I don't mind an occasional movie for holidays or something, but daily screentime would not make me happy - not because of some moral stand against screentime, but because I'm paying for child care! My kids could watch videos for hours at home for free.
What's your daycare's policy on TV/screentime?

There was a TV in our old daycare and it really got me upset when I heard that they had watched a MOVIE or something else during the day. That was when she was in the 2's room.
Current daycare has no TV's. Not sure about computers in the older kids (5+) rooms, though.

They don't have any TVs. Well they do for Parent Night Out. but they are in the gym, where elementary kids are for the after school program.

They sometimes watch music videos on a laptop, but only ever during pick-up time.

They have a projection screen in the enrichment room that they use for presentations and teacher training. At Christmas time every year the kids all watch Polar Express. Other than than, no TVs and no screen time. Teacher's aren't allowed to have their phones out in the rooms at all either to avoid any screen time there.

I've seen a TV (on a cart) in the older kids' Pre-K room----but it *looked* like the teacher was interacting with the class with the TV, doing something. I just walk past the room on the way to LO's room, so I don't know. But no tvs in any of the younger kid rooms.

They watch a movie a couple times in the summer in the preschool rooms. (2.5+) You have to fill out a permission slip.
No screen time during the rest of the year.

None at his new center! The school aged kids have access to computers but it's not a regular thing even for that age group.

In her room (older toddler room from about 2 years old), they watch 1 hour of tv every Thursday. I was not happy to find out about that since I thought it only happened in the pre-school room.

There aren't tvs in the infant or young toddler rooms. I've seen a tv in the pre-school and older child rooms (4+). I wouldn't mind if once she was that age they watched a show during pickup or something, but I'd still rather them not watch tv at all.

The kindergarten level classes do abcmouse.com several times a week on a desktop computer.

I am not sure if our school has a TV, but I remember reading in the handbook that in before-care & after-care (7-8:55am & 3:05-5pm) they may show movies to the kids over 2 years old if they can't go outside. LO is going to start after-care in the fall so I should ask about that.

No TV time in our daycare.
However when they trialed an "aftercare" program (basically for date nights once per month), they showed a movie to the kids who stayed late.

We're at a home daycare. They watch a bit of TV during early morning drop off, and occasionally (maybe every 2-3 months) they will watch a movie. But I really don't mind; she'd be getting at least the same amount of TV time if she were at home!

Every Friday afternoon (after they've been playing outdoors), they gather all the kids around 4:30 PM and sit them all down to watch a movie. Movies tends to be Disney classics. It doesn't bother me since he gets a whole lot more screen time at home but the kid has been defiant lately so he's been losing his ipad privileges on a daily basis.

There are no TVs or computers at our daycare, which I like. Makes me feel less guilty if she watches an episode of Sesame Street while I'm getting supper ready!

@mrbee: I agree too much tv is a waste of child care costs.
Our daycare has 2 pm dance party everyday and she plays music videos (kid friendly) for that. Otherwise nada.

I've never seen a TV in our daycare so I assume the policy is that they don't watch it. There's storage closets that I suppose one could be stashed in but I never really thought to ask.

They watched two movies: One for christmas and one for Peter and the Wolf to talk about instruments. Otherwise no screens at all. I love it because my kid gets way too much screen time at home.
I don't mind special occasions or rain days (note we don't have snow issues so that may change my feelings if it was frequent). But at my friends kindergarten the kids watched ninja turtles or Little mermaid every day at school.
What happened to reading time?
I would not send my kids to somewhere that had screentime because we do that enough.

DD is at an in home daycare so there is a TV in the room where they spend their time. I think they watch videos on rainy days but we only have about 10 of those per year.
During football season the owner's husband sets up a folding chair in the middle of the kids and watches games. There is very little overlap between the game start time and pickup time so it doesn't bother me. It is just a funny sight to see the guy intently watching football in the middle of chaos.

Its a home daycare, and they really only do TV when they are getting all the kids ready to go outside or something. It's off the rest of the day.

There will be no TV in the day care at my office. I wouldn't choose a day care where TV was regularly used (more than maybe once or twice a year).

Our really wonderful daycare shows movies sometimes at the end of the day. Maybe 2-4 times a month during cold weather. It really doesn't bother us. If it were more frequent it might.

@mrbee: The daycare I worked at did not have TVs. We did have a movie day as a treat once in a blue moon but it usually didn't go over too well. The kids would sit for about 15 min and eat their popcorn, then talk/move around for the rest of the movie then after about a half hour there would only be 1 or 2 watching haha.
