She's 2, we still let her have a bottle with a few oz of water at bedtime. Meh. I think she's just getting to the point where she's ready to give it up. I know that's not a popular choice but Im not too fussed.

We started weaning right when he turned one. We cut out one bottle a week and replaced it with a cup until he was completely weaned.

We are attempting to bottle wean now at 12.5 months. It's not going well, haha.

We just started transitioning to a straw cup during the day. I will keep a bottle for night before bed till she's 20 if it helps keep her full. But probably until she's a better eater. And she just turned 1.

@Adira: Sippy cup? straw cup? open cup?
@Anagram: DS drinks water from a straw cup just fine. He still takes his milk warm (BM or WCM) so I've been keeping it in a bottle. I'm debating if I want to try a straw cup for his milk even though his milk is warm.

We went cold turkey at 12 months with a sippy cup. It was a bit of a struggle for awhile but now is ok.

We started at 11 months giving sippy cups with meals and a bottle in the morning and at bedtime. We then cut out the morning bottle and just after 12 months we cut out the bedtime one. He used a straw cup as he could never get the hang of tipping the cup when he was that age.

@Alivoo01: that's exactly what our problem is here--LO is used to only water in sippies and straw cups-but we just had our official 1 year appointment and her weight is good right now (actually a small gain in % from 9 months) and her ped said she can go down to 16-18 oz of milk (or in our case, milk alternative) a day, so I just decided to go cold-turkey during the day and only put cold bm+hemp milk in a straw cup.
Before, LO would have had 6 oz in a bottle at 11 am and another 6 oz at 3 pm, and yesterday with the straw cup she had 3 oz in the morning and 1.5 oz in the afternoon, so with her morning and night time bottles, her overall oz were 17 for the day, which is supposed to be fine! She didn't sleep as well for naps or at night because she didn't eat more to compensate for less milk, but I'm hoping she will catch on to eating more food soon.
Again this morning she drank 3 oz out of the straw cup at 11. So we'll see how it goes....it's tough because with the bottle, she just gulps it all down, whereas with the straw cup, she sips it, put it down...sips it, puts it down.. It takes about an hour for her to drink 3 oz. Frustrating.

Before a year, but I don't remember exactly when. He took to a zoli cup of water instantly, so we just started using those for milk too and never looked back!

Interesting question. She only takes bottles rarely since I BF and SAH, so I was thinking we will just only use bottles for BM, however long I BF, and start introducing whole milk in a straw cup (she drinks water out of one now) after 1. So bottle always equals breastmilk, every other drink is always in a cup. BUT we shall she how it goes, since we haven't crossed that bridge yet.

@Alivoo01: We did a straw cup because that's what he was used to for water. Though daycare has sippy cups, so he can drink from both.
ETA: When we were weaning, we would still warm up his milk because it was BM. So he'd take warm milk from a straw cup. Eventually we stopped warming it and he was totally fine with that.

LO only got bottles at daycare and when he switched rooms, they stopped giving him bottles and I guess he was cool with that lol.

11 months on accident - the other little boy our nanny keeps has straw and sippy cups, so he wanted to drink out of those.

@Foodnerd81: Slightly OT but Miss A never took a bottle and she's totally happy to drink cow's milk from a sippy cup even though she's still bf'ing on demand.

We bottle-weaned at 8 months. He just drinks out of a sippy now. We used this and now he'll drink out of anything http://amzn.com/B001TBYNUW

Started weaning at 13 months and dropped a bottle every few weeks. He was down to bed bottle by 15 months and we let him have it til 18 months. Replaced each bottle with a straw cup of milk at first and slowly transitioned to milk at meals. We only ever offered milk in bottles so that's all we had to wean from.

At 11.5 months she dropped her afternoon bottles. Then two days after her bday, we just didn't give her bottles. Just got milk in a straw cup with meals. A week or two later she wasn't drinking a ton, went to a sippy and she would chug the milk down.
