DS shows a lot of interest in drinking from a cup - he's 6 months today. When did you introduce one? And was it a sippy, straw, or straight to a regular cup, Montessori style?

@grizz: we did a straw cup and open cup tarting with solids at 6m. He really didn't drink much until now at 12m when he's only nursing 3x a day!

Straw cup at 6 months with solids. We just did water until he turned 12 months and then did water and milk. We started open cup around 11 months and he does well with those now, too.

I tried at six months but we didn't get serious til a year...that's when she was ready. We used spout for about a week and then tried straw and it took.

Straw cup at 5.5m & a regular cup (shot glass) size around 6.5m. She loves both!

Happy 6 month birthday lo! Dd is 6 months on Tuesday. I ordered her a zoli. Still not sure... we might try a straight cup also.

Straw cup and shot glass or sharing my water cup at 6 months. We alternate straw cups vs regular based on how much mess we're prepared for, where we are, and what it clean. My fave straw cup is one of the cheapo holiday ones from Target. I have a Halloween pumpkin for LO, and will probably get him a Christmas one after the holidays are over and they're clearanced.

Straw cup and silicone topped sippy around 6 months but he didn't get hang of it til maybe 8 or 9 months? Really didn't get sippy cups (hard tops) until after a year. we always let him take sips from our open cups and he also got the hang of that around 14 months?
Zoli is a great first straw cup.

We started around 7 months.

Zoli straw cup at 5.5 months. Open cup is still a challenge At 13 months.

We started introducing sippy cups at 6 months, but my LO didn't take to them. We gave him the zolibot at 11 months, and he immediately got the hang of the straw cup. Wish we had introduced the straw sooner.

5.5 months when started solids. At 8.5 she still doesn't get it.

We started with the Zoli straw cup last week when we started solids. LO loves it!

We started giving her sips from a regular cup when we started solids, at about 5.5 months. We hit some constipation issues at about 6.5 months, so we tried a sippy to increase water intake and a little prune juice. At 7 months we have a serious constipation issue, so we are giving her apple cider in a bottle!
Hope to return to the sippy / regular cup soon. But, both create a big mess. She leaks everywhere with either option. -
5 1/2 months, both straw and regular cup. She's now 6 1/2 months and just learned how to use the straw today!

Why does everyone's LO get a straw cup but mine?!?!?

we started with sippy and straw cup at around 6 months. she wanted nothing to do with the sippy because it was too close to the bottle, which she hated. the straw she didn't figure out until 8.5 months. now she'll drink through her straw cup or an open cup when we offer it.

@Smurfette: R got it around 9.5 months when I saw shopaholic's babe drinking hers on IG! I tried the zoli again and she took it right away! So weird!
We gave her a sippy with water when we started solids around 6 months but she didn't get it for a while. We still had to hold it for her when I gave her the zoli again at 9.5 and she took it. Total game changer!

We tried a regular sippy at 6 months and he didn't get it, so then we tried the Zoli. It took a few tries, but by 7 months, he was drinking from it.
