7 months! I gave LO regular old fashioned oats that I would grind down in my food processor a few times a week.

Around 5.5 months. Our pediatrician suggested starting him cereal LO's 5 month appointment and told me to start with rice, then barley and then oatmeal. He also told me to give it 3 days before introducing the next cereal.

We started with baby oatmeal at 5.5 months and just a week ago I tried to give Lil some of my oatmeal, on 2 different days and she was not a fan either time!

He's eaten rice cereal since 4 months and box 2 is about to run out so I figured maybe it's time to switch. He's 6 months.

I gave oatmeal around 6.5 months but it was home made oatmeal from steel cut oats and not the flakes from the store.

@Mrsbells: Same here. LO was about 6.5 when I started feeding her oatmeal, made it from grinding oatmeal in the baby bullet.

We skipped rice cereal and started with oatmeal right away (at 4 mths) because she wasn't regular and the ped said that rice could of bound her up.

We're hoping to start next week. Today her doctor said she seemed ready for solids and that anything is fine as long as I follow the three day rule. I want to start with a couple of vegetables first.

I've always just given oatmeal. We never give it alone though. I either mix fruit with it or use it to thicken store bought purees.

I started LO on oats after two weeks of rice and barley cereal. She started at 5 months, so it was probably around the 5.5 month mark.

Planning to transition her to solids 2x a day when she's 7 months. will probably do oatmeal then.
For those that gave homemade did you mix With anything to make it more appetizing for them? Thinking maybe squash purée since she's already had that and loves squash.

@regberadaisy: Yes, I mix it. I've mixed it with sweet potato, apples, and pears so far.

@regberadaisy: I don't do homemade, but I never serve oatmeal alone. I always mix something with it to make it more appetizing. I can't imagine that infant oatmeal alone tastes very good.

We did oatmeal at 7 months (started rice at 6 months) and always mixed it with apples or pears.
