DS is 6.5 months now. Am I supposed to start giving him water? He's still pretty much EBF. I offer him solids, but he's not actually really eating any of it yet. He just spits most of it out.
How old was your LO when you started giving them water? And how much?

We started offering it regularly when she got the gang of solids at 7ish months. I just let her drink whatever she wants from the cup. I've never measured it.

We will probably start right at 6 months. We live in the South and it's starting to get HOT HOT HOT so I'm looking forward to being able to start giving her water in the next few weeks so I don't have to worry about dehydration.

@MamaMoose: yes it's starting to get hot where I'm at. 90s all this week already! So it would probably be good to give him water so he doesn't get dehydrated.

I've heard that if a baby is EBF, they don't technically need extra water to be hydrated. My son is 7 months and his daycare just started giving him water in a cup so he could practice his cup skills. I'm not worried about if he's actually drinking it though.
