We are still on the newborn/slow flow nipples for our Avent bottles. We bottle feed while I am at work, and I need to buy more for daycare. What flow should I get, and how do I know when to size up? She is 4 months old.

We haven't. She inhales her bottles as it is now, so we have just kept them. We use playtex drop-ins.

@Weagle: I am. That is why I was hesitant to size up, but I wasn't sure if I should go from newborn to slow flow. We've never had an issue, so maybe I won't mess with it.
@singingbee: @Smurfette: thanks!

@LovelyPlum: we use Avent, too, and switched to level 2 nipples around that age. Daycare requested faster nipples, otherwise we probably wouldn't have bothered -- but I have a forceful letdown so I wasn't surprised that the slower nipples were frustrating for her. The level 2s seem to approximate my flow pretty well. I think if your LO seems happy, though, there's no need to change.

We switched to the next level when R was taking 20 minutes to finish a bottle. We only switched once and we used Avent as well.

I never have switched from slow flow and don't plan to. He's already bottle spoiled from how immediate and easy it is to get milk. Keeping it slow flow helps a little.

I never did. She used the slowest flow since day 1. Combo breast and bottle.

LO was EBF til 12 months and we never switched (she gets bottles of pumped milk at daycare).
