R is almost 4 months and his spit up hasn't slowed down at all yet. Some days it's fountains and some days it's "normal" amounts. His GI doc said many babies improve by 6m. Hoping that's the case for us.
When did your baby stop spitting up?

LO1 around 5 months, LO2, not until closer to 8 months. LO2 was a major fountain too.

Alice was around 5 months. For Blake it had slowed down a lot by 8 months. At 11 months he still occasionally has some spit up, but very rarely.

I don't know if my daughter was as bad as your lo about the spit up but I remember it improving with solids, around 6m. However there were mornings she spit up what seemed like her whole bottle!

UPDATE: Spit up started to slow down at 7 months, slowed WAY down at 8 months and it went to only a few times a day. Then reduced even further between 8-9 months and at 9.5 months spit up is quite rare here.

@winniebee: That's great news! Was wondering how he was doing with it, so glad to hear it's clearing up!

@winniebee: good news! My spitty baby still spits at 6 months but it's less and less over time.

@winniebee: Thanks for updating! Glad to know there's hope. My 4.5 month old is ridiculous - like a continuous fountain I know the doctor says it's just a laundry problem, but she's not the one getting covered in spit up all day!

@sapphire: I got so discouraged at 6m because everyone said 6m was the benchmark for improvement - for us it was 7 months. But man, I'm glad those days are behind us!
@SeptMomma12: R was an absurdly spitty baby. Continuous fountains multiple times after every single feed. Gah, I hated it! Hang in there!

@winniebee: Was he on medication for it? As soon as we got C on medication, she almost completely stopped... unless she caught a stomach bug... and then it lasted for 6 days

For us, it was around 10 months. Baby C was a happy spitter, thankfully, but even with solids and thicker formula, nothing helped until she just grew out of it finally. It sucks but hang in there, it does stop eventually.

@BabyBoecksMom: He was on Zantac from 6 weeks until 8 months. It never improved the spit up, but his symptoms of showing discomfort following feedings (arching and fussing) improved around 10 weeks. We toyed with the idea of a PPI and even went to a GI specialist, but never pursued it because by 10 weeks he had shown improvement.

@winniebee: Ahhh ok. Zantac did improve some of the discomfort, but did nothing for the spit up (and she HATED the taste haha), so we moved to Prevacid and it stopped everything. I'm so glad you finally get a break from the reflux!

@SeptMomma12: We were in the exact same boat and now at 8.5 months it's maybe once a week that we get slimed, I really never thought we would reach a point where we would stop carrying beach towels around our house to protect ourselves! It will get better!

@winniebee: Awesome update. My LO #2 is a big spit up guy too. He did Zantac for a week because it was really bad. It's still not great, but better. We're going through a sleep regression right now. I wonder if part of it is his tummy growing and catching up in general. I read sites Google during late night feedings when we have long nights.

Our DD spat up a ton! It seemed to calm down around 6 months. That's when I started to notice I was going through less bibs!

Our son was still spitting up a tiny bit as late as 12 months. He never seemed too bothered by it, but we had a LOT of spit up in our lives for the better part of a year.

My oldest got worse at 6 months (introduction of food) and it finally stopped when she was a year old, it was the combination of medicine & just her body maturing.
my youngest is a normal spitter, but at 6 months still has quite a bit of spit ups, we change clothes usually once a day.
