We typically ask my BIL and his gf. But we're going to start asking a daycare teacher so we can get out more often.

I wish I had a regular one!
I used to work a part time retail job before I had J and a few of the girls were in college and in the neighborhood. We kept in touch and a couple offered to watch him after he was born. For the first year I had two girls that would watch him pretty regularly but then they both found full time jobs.
We haven't been on a date night since Summer 2014

No one! Sucks moving to a town where you know nobody! I'm sure I could ask a friend to, but I don't want to be annoying. Also my child screams when I leave.

MIL every few months. We used my friend twice last year.

My dad is our go-to. They absolutely love him and the feeling is mutual. Since he's retired, he has time and wants to spend it with his grand kids. My mom works so she's more available on the weekends.

Our nanny. She's part time, so happy to take on date nights. This is a recent thing though....previously grandparents always watched the kids.

MIL or my parents. Both moms are retired/SAH, LO is the only grandchild and both are obsessed with her. So, yeah.

Our parents, but we'd like to look for another person we could have as a go-to if need be.

@Caly: @yoursilverlining: both my ILs are retired and don't offer to watch the kids or say yes when we ask. Unless, it's an emergency....so....yeah.

We have an English lady (recommended through a friend). I actually just tried to get in touch with her today since it has been awhile and I don't even know if she is around right now.

Mostly our parents, since we pay for full-time daycare during the week I don't feel guilty using only free childcare in the evenings.
But it sure is nice to give directions and a person follows them, grandparent care sometimes means they make the rules. We have a girl that lives near by that has offered to sit, and we have tried to use her only once but she was already booked with another family - but I'm really feeling it's time to try again!

My mom lives with us, so she's our go-to. We usually leave after his bedtime, so it's no big deal for her at all. Before that it was my ILs, although it was pretty rare since they are 40 minutes away and often out of town.

Mom, MIL, SIL #1, SIL #2, either of my sisters, my neighbor, basically whoever I can pawn him off on. Ha ha ha.

Our moms are our go-to sitters. We've also had my girlfriend look after them (no kids of her own, but she used to be a nanny and my kids LOVE her and visa versa), and we could pay our regular nanny if we were desperate and needed to get away for some reason.

We've lived in 3 different states since having LOs, but have never been close to family. So we have used a variety of babysitters: teachers from LO1's infant room, recent college graduates with childcare experience, and mid-30s girls that nanny full-time. We've had decent luck with care.com, but also used personal references. Most recently (we just moved), we used a 14yo neighbor whose family is good friends of a friend. I wouldn't necessarily use her for daytime care, but LO2 was already down for the night and LO1 was basically ready for bed before we left for dinner, so I was confident she could watch TV for a couple hours and make sure nothing happened while we were 10 minutes away

Umm, no one? We haven't had a date night since before our daughter was born in February 2013 We moved away from family in 2012 and my husband is fiercely over protective and refuses to allow any non family members to watch our kids (especially since our youngest is only 6.5 months).

A close friend of ours. We don't ask often though. Maybe twice a year?

We have a few - we are blessed.
MIL/FIL - live about 10 mins away. FIL is great for quicky watches but he is not quite there for long term and/or stays that require bedtime/feeding. Tho that is probably more me than him!
My dad - he loves to watch her but is more of a "watch the monitor" babysitter right now. I need to give him more responsibility and test his skills!
My mom - can do anything, she is also one of our overnight options.
Daycare Teachers - we have used an assortment of teachers. There are probably 4 girls or so at the center we have/would use right now without hesitation...usually they charge $10/hr and I round up.
Daycare Teacher - we have one teacher who is our most trusted sitter (next to family). She is absolutely amazing with kids and I just never have a doubt in my mind when I have her watch K. She needs no instruction - which is great in a bind. She keeps a carseat in her car and is the only non family member authorized to take K from school. She is $10/hr (I usually round up and/or include a small 'gift' for longer watches) or $100 per night when she does overnights. She is the only non family member who has a form authorizing her to approve medical treatment for K.
We are so lucky to have such great options. We do have a month or two in the winter where all grandparents go south to Florida and we feel the pain of paid for care but its short lived.
We have a few younger girls in the neighborhood (13-15) who I need to start trying out as Mommy's Helper!

My best friend watches my kids so we can have date nights and in return I watch her kids so she and her hubby can go out. It means we never double date with them ... but it's free and has worked for the last 9 years

So far my mom (who was visiting from out of state) and my in laws but they live an hour away so I don't want to ask them too often.
There is a lady at my office that babysits. I need to pick a date and have her Coke over so we have another option.
