I'll be happy if my kids want to attend the same school but I don't want to pressure them at all. I remember my friend felt like a failure because she didn't get into the Ivy League school that her father and grandfather attended...she had to settle for Stanford!

We won't pressure him, but DH and I both went to the same university and would love for our son to go there as well. We will be happy with whatever he chooses, though.

I went to a small liberal arts college and while I loved it, I think a huge university would have been such a great experience as well! My kids can go wherever they want (assuming we can pay for it without going into debt for life).

It would be cool, but I don't really care where they go! As long as they go to college and pick good careers and good schools! And it doesn't cost an arm and a leg and their first born

It depends where we live. We met at the same college and both ad great experiences, so I would love our kids to go there or consider it. But we live in the same city as the school, so I'd rather our kids go away for college and experience living somewhere new. Neither of us are from this city but ended up here because we went to school here. So, if we stay in the Boston area, no, I'd hope they go to a similar type of school but not in Boston. If we move, especially while they are young, then yes, I'd love them to come back here.
But really, it would be up to them. I would discourage them from staying in the same area they grew up for college, but otherwise whatever they wanted within reason.

I had a lot of pressure from my mom to go to Harvard like my grandpa, and it annoyed the heck out of me, especially since I couldn't have gotten in!!
I live in the same city where my alma mater is, so there is no escaping the school spirit and Aggie onesies, but unless they want to spend college living at home with us, they will go somewhere else! -
No, I don't care at all. Then again, I'm not really the school spirit type.

Maybe, only because they have parietals (no opposite sex sleepovers!) haha. Although that didn't stop my friend and her GF (now wife) from living together!

I'd at least want him/her to apply. I applied because my dad went there, thinking I'd go to a "better" Ivy, but you just never know how things will turn out.

I loved my alma mater so I wouldn't them going there! Hubby didn't go to my alma mater, but is a fan of the school as well, so I'm sure the hubby wouldn't mind either! However, they're free to go anywhere they like minus my alma mater's biggest rival. Ha!

We want DD to go to school in the US, but we'd be okay if she went to our alma mater since it's a top Canadian school.

I'd love if LO went to either of my schools (grad or undergrad.) I had a fabulous education and hope can have the same opportunities I did.

We would love if our kids went to our alma mater! We met there and have a really strong connection to it. It's a wonderful town and a great school.

I went to a really hard engineering school and didn't have much of a life or get any sleep. I would definitely not want them to go unless they REALLY wanted to.

Nope! I hated my alma mater. I'd be thrilled if she got into an Ivy or a good west coast school instead.

Not really - my DH and I met in college, but otherwise, I wasn't incredibly impressed with my school. I hope we can afford to send DS to any school he wants to go to - I had to go to mine because it was in-state and the tuition was too reasonable (at the time) to pass up.

No, if they want to go school there that's fine. I want them to pick their school according to what's important to them and their studies.

We are already joking about this, how awful!
DH attended a well known university, and everyone (not kidding) in his family is attending or has attended there. It is in his home province and has a very big following so to speak -amazing school.
My university is a smaller, perhaps "less regarded" institution that I loved.
Between the two I would probably push for our kid to go to DHs school.
THEN there's the fact we both work at another university now (me full time, DH in athletics (coach!)) and that's in the mix too, local, but I would never push for our kids to stay home unless they wanted to!
If DH has his dream come true our kids will go to the US on D1 scholarships for hockey, lol.

I absolutely loved my school and hope my DD wants to at least entertain the idea of attending there, but I won't pressure her.

I love my school, too. I wouldn't force them to go there but I would certainly visit and tell them all about my experience.

Nah, neither of my parents went to college and they never put pressure on us. I won't pressure my kids. If we raise our family here in Utah there is a school I might disown my kids if they go (kidding.... Sort of) so there are not many other options if they go in state. Or they could rebel like me and go to Idaho. BAD IDEA. I'm still so frozen!

If we still live in RI, yes I will totally encourage in state tuition. The out of state costs just aren't worth it!

I would love if our kids went to my alma mater as DH is now attending it for paramedic school and my dad went there for grad school and there is a long standing history of school pride. That being said, I wouldn't pressure them to go if another school was a better fit. But I have to say, I would NOT be willing to have them attend our rival. I'm weird like that.
