Will your Kindergartener take the bus to school?
The bus goes right by our house but I'm not sure if the timing works with when I have to bring our younger son to his school. DS2 has drop off at 8:15-8:30 about a 5 minute drive. And the K bus seems to come by between 8:15-8:30. I would love to be able to get DS1 on the bus and then immediately leave to drop of DS2 at school though. DS1 won't take the bus home because we have an after-school nanny.

Yes. DH and I are hoping to flex our schedules so that we don't need to pay for before/after school care. I'll get him on the bus at 8:00 and then DH hopes to be able to be home by the time it drops off. The extra half hour of bus time each way will help us to make the no daycare thing happen.

No...but there is technically no bus service since we're in another town from the school. Even if he were eligible, I am not at all comfortable with shool buses for kids that are less than 10 years old.

Not my DS... We are close enough and school starts early enough that we will walk him to school. When he's in 1st grade there is a new school opening though across town he will get moved to and will probably get the bus then.... Unless we decide to drive him?

No, I'll drop her off at that age. I have some pretty traumatic memories of riding the school bus as a kid!

No, we take public transit. There's a bus, but it's private and you have to pay for it. We live too close to need it.

@FaithFertility: No it's the same bus as the whole elementary school.

We live close, so no bus option for us. If it's really cold or gross, I may have to drive him.

Our public school is only 3 blocks away, so she'd be a walker. If we were to go private, bus would be an option, but we'd have to see what the timing is compared to preschool start for the younger kiddos.

Yes, DD takes it home and LOVES it!!!
She was assigned a 6th grade safety who gets her from her classroom and gets on the bus with her - she gets off at the same stop as DD (this is done for all K and 1st grade kids)

No. The bus arrives too late - we will have to take her to before care.

We live within 2 miles of the school so there is no bus option for us. It's less than a 1/2 mile from our house so we'll probably walk if we still live here in a few years.

Probably not, since both DH and me should be pretty flexible with dropping off while the other watches DD2 for a few minutes...

We only live a mile from the school but she takes the bus (no sidewalks and a few busy streets to cross). Ince in awhile DH has some extra time and she bikes to school with him.

We'll try it but logistically I would still need to drive her to the bus stop and the school is only right across one major road. I think it may make more sense to drive but I've heard they like the kids to take the bus at least the first few weeks.

@winniebee: I was going to say that is awesome if they did! We have many K-8 schools so kiddos are all on the same bus Kinder-8th grade 
That thought scares me, and I know many parents decided to drive kids based on that factor, can't blame them!

LO is so sad she won't get to ride the bus to school. The Elementary school is in our neighborhood, so we'll just walk her to school.

No. Ugh I dread school busses. They are where 90% of the bullying and misbehavior happens because the kids are unsupervised except for a driver that is... um... driving. And usually not trained to handle discipline.

Nope! I hated riding the bus. It was loud, hot, and crowded.

Nope, it's convenient to drop off. And the bus comes about 30 minutes earlier than we currently leave the house. Which is simply too darn early to be ready! She really wants to ride the bus.
And coming home isn't an option, she does after care at the school and DH picks her up most days.

We've got a few years to figure it out, but probably not. The bus stops right by our house, but we also live less than 5 minutes from the school. I guess it will depend on our other kids' preschool schedule at that point, too.

Gah. Probably. But the bus has kids from 4 years old (JK) to grade 8 PLUS highschool kids!!! I can't imagine my 4 year old on a bus with 17 year olds, knowing how much of a moron my husband was on the bus in highschool. Small town problems!

She takes the bus 3 mornings a week and I drive her the other 2. I pick her up every day.

No, our elementary school is in our neighborhood, a quarter mile walk. I'm a sahm so I can drop off if it's rainy or too cold.
