LO has been with his caregiver since he was 3 months old and in the beginning, I would call every day around lunch time to check in and see how he was doing. As time went on, even though I became more comfortable, I continued to call. Now, at almost 16 months old, I don't call everyday, but find that I check in about 3 times a week. Our caregiver doesn't seem to mind, but I just wonder if I am the only one!
Does anyone else call during the week to check in?

Nope, I almost never check in. She will message me from time to time if LO has done something extra cute though.

No. I have called a lot the past few weeks because my son was transitioned to a different room and I wanted a potty update.

When my DS started at 5 months old I called the 1st week - they told me I could continue to call but I didn't want to bother them every single day.
Now that they are older I only call if they seemed "off" that morning or had a bad night - then I will call the school to check on them - otherwise I never call

We have a nanny but I do text her at least once a day to check in and see how LO is doing (he's almost 19 mos). I doubt I will stop anytime soon either. I might not do this daily if he was in a center/in home daycare because there would be other children and I wouldn't want to be a distraction.

Never.
Well, once I texted her because I forgot to tell her that morning what time to give L her medicine.
But otherwise I try to give her space. Plus, I don't think she has great service in her basement...

I only call when LO is having issues--has a cold, is super cranky, is complaining about something hurting. In the beginning I used to check-in more.

No, only if there is an issue. I stayed with her on the 1st day though. Otherwise, we usually ask the teacher at pickup, how her day went and teacher is pretty good with a quick verbal report.

Oh my goodness, our caregiver probably thinks I'm nuts! Although, we were her first family (which was maybe why I started calling in the beginning!) so maybe she thinks that's the norm?!

Only if she was having an off morning, I don't like to bug them everyday knowing they are busy with kids. So maybe once a month?

I called every day her first 2 weeks there, usually mi-day, to see how she was doing. I haven't called since though. She runs an in-home daycare and I figure her hands are full most days!

When my mom watches him, she sends me emails while DS is napping, but it's mostly mother/daughter chatter anyways.
On days that my MIL watches him, I have to call every day at lunchtime or she totally thinks I'm a bad mom!

I called once during his first day, but otherwise, nope, I never call (unless it's to say "OMG, it's a blizzard out here, I'm not going to get there by 5:30!")

We are our caregiver's only FT family and she texts me every day around lunch with an update on my LOs. Occasionally I'll text her to check on them but usually only if one of them had a rough morning.

I never do. If he's been acting "off" I might text his nanny to ask how he's doing, but I've never called and he's almost 2!

I skype with my LO at lunch everyday. Not so much to check up on him - I know he is fine and in good hands with our nanny - but because I miss him and want to see him. I went back to work when he was 12 months and it was so hard not to be with him all day. I miss a day sometimes when I am really busy or when there are problems with the volume and internet that we can't figure out, but generally it is part of our lunchtime routine.
I used to text a lot more because i wanted to know how he was napping and doing in general - again because i missed him. But it was getting a bit repetitive, so I now have the nanny fill out a chart with everything he does and nap times, etc. It helps me to feel connected to him and i love reading it over with him when i get home everyday.
My nanny also emails me the occasional picture.
We will be putting him in daycare in a few months, I am not sure what I will do then.
eta. we started skyping a few weeks after i went back to work, not from day one. and the chart started initially because i wanted to maintain his routine on the weekends because he was napping so badly on the weekends, but now it is also for fun.

Ay i've never once called. Although our daycare director is amazing at keeping in touch with me over text, so I know if there's an issue, she'll text or call. I've texted a couple of times to say "how's she doing?" but never called.

I called the first day. And I think one other day when he seemed like he wasn't feeling well. Otherwise, I count on them to call and let me know if something is wrong. He is always happy when I pick him up, so I trust that he is doing fine throughout the day!

My mom is our primary caregiver. She sends me texts throughout the day. Usually I'm too busy to notice if I haven't heard from her. But in the first few months, I'd call and check in, etc.

We text throughout the day. I call if it's urgent. I like getting little updates, it makes my day a little bit happier knowing she's having fun.
