if your daycare teacher shared pictures of your LOs on their personal, but private, social media accounts?
Do you let daycare share pictures of your LOs on their social media accounts?
ETA: not our teachers!

One daycare/preschool I toured had a section in their application form that basically forced us to allow them to use LO's pictures for any promotional/media use. I thought that was weird but I don't know how normal or common that is?
I guess I'd be ok with it, but I don't know if I'd be cool with a teacher posting it to their personal account. I would just wonder why?

I'm not cool with a teacher posting pictures on her personal page, but I do allow the center to use her picture for promotional purposes. They don't show the kid's faces usually. The one they have of H is looking down at the top of her head (the babies were playing on the floor).

I think it would depend on how it was explained to be beforehand and if the pictures were appropriate. If it was a surprise, I wouldn't be happy about it.

Our daycare has a private group where it posts photos of the kids. Only current teachers and parents are members of the group. I'm okay with that! But a teacher sharing on their own page - not okay!!

At our daycare, they have to get permission from us to use any pictures. (We are given a release form, but there is no pressure to give/not give permission on the form.) The school has a blog, but it's private with password access. I think we can even indicate we don't want pictures of our kids posted there.
I'm pretty confident that the school would be not be happy about this. I would consider it pretty unprofessional. (But my kids go to a school. If they were at something more informal, I would have a different opinion.)

I don't get pictures of DD at school... I would not be okay with her picture being shared on a teacher's personal FB without my knowledge.

Yes, I would have a problem with it. I'm not going to share pics of my LO one social media and certainly don't want others to do so either.

That's a huge deal. If I don't put pictures of my kid online, and don't let family members do it, why would I let daycare or someone else do it?

No, that is creepy to me. Plus I don't know who the teacher is friends with, what her privacy settings are, etc. Our daycare doesn't take a lot of pictures so there is no usage of his image anywhere.

Yes, this would absolutely bother me.
Our daycare has something where you can choose whether or not to give permission to use LO's picture on the website. We chose not to.

@HLK208: really!? I'm friends with a good amount of my girls' daycare teachers and none of them share pictures of the kids on their pages. Even when they babysit!
My daycare also won't share pictures unless you give them permission. We didn't the first two years then changed to yes. It's a private page.

@regberadaisy: mostly old friends and acquaintances who are teachers, not the teachers that my kids have had (that I know of - we aren't FB friends). So maybe they had permission?! I don't know!

Yes, it would. I used to teach preschool, so I have a lot of former coworkers as friends on Facebook. I've seen several of them do this and I don't understand! Unless you are personal friends with the parents, it's not a good idea!!

@lilteacherbee: yes! It seems like she is friends with some of the parents?! Some of them comment and seem to be completey OK with it. A lot are AT daycare too. It's baffling to me. My daycare doesn't allow teachers to have their phones while working. With good reason!

I wouldn't be ok with it. Also our daycare doesn't have social media accounts but we did agree to release photos for promotional/media needs.
But I used to be a camp counselor in high school and do remember posting pics of my camp kids on Facebook, as did several other of the counsellors. I wouldn't do it now, but I didn't think anything about it then, which crazy to think was almost 10 years ago.

I wouldn't mind because I really like and trust them personally. But I don't think I'll always feel that way, we just are really lucky with preschool right now.

No, not cool. It's crossing the line.
I'm a teacher and I sure as hell don't take pictures or share pics of my students online. No no no.
