DS is in daycare full time but we use a nanny agency to fill in sometimes and yesterday I hired a new nanny for the day because I had to stay late at work and couldn't pick him up on time. Before I left for work I asked her to move her car to the street because we are having construction done and workers need to get in and out all day. She did this right before I left. When I got home I noticed her car was in the driveway, so I confronted her about it. I asked where DS was while she was moving her car (he is 2) and she said in the back seat, strapped into the regular seat belt. I told her this was unacceptable because I don't think that is safe (cars whiz down my street all day and a car parked on the street has been hit right outside my house) and I was upset that she didn't even ask my permission first. She got really defensive and insisted it was safe, but I told her she was wrong and it didn't matter what she thought because I was not okay with it.
Would that have upset anyone else? Or are you okay with a child who needs to be in a car seat being strapped into a regular seat like that without your permission? Otherwise she was okay, she took good care of DS but didn't do a great job of following my instructions (which I've found is pretty typical of older nannies and doesn't bother me).
