I think I saw on the boards a little while back that someone would feel differently about breastfeeding their son for an extended period of time (beyond 1) than they would their daughter. As in they would feel more comfortable breastfeeding a daughter longer.
Would you feel differently about extended breastfeeding your son vs. your daughter?

Nope. I don't intend to breastfeed any of my children past a year but gender has nothing to do with that decision.

No, I wouldn't feel any differently. I intend to nurse until age two, but I have no problem with mothers who chose to nurse their sons or daughters until age four or five, it's a personal choice and I think they should be respected for their dedication!

Not at all. I'd like to wean in not too long, but the fact that he's a boy is not an issue at all.

I am hoping to nurse until 2 and would have done so boy/girl because I think there are major health benefits.
Beyond around the age of 3 I think children need to start learning about private parts and yes I think I would possibly find it easier to nurse my daughter at that age then I would a son.

No, no difference. I mean, if you see it as sexual in any way, it's sexual, whether it's a girl or boy. I don't see it that way so it's not a problem.

No difference. I have to nurse my son till two because of medical issues. If I had my choice both would be cut off at 1 year old.

nope, not at all. I plan on breastfeeding for as long as DS wants to (well, within reason, of course, lol).

I would say no!! I plan to go to two years with DS and it would have been the same if he was a girl. I actually think it might be good for a boy to have the experience of extended breastfeeding so that he doesn't have a sexualized view when it comes to breastfeeding.

Nope, no difference to me. I was breastfed until close to 3 years, and I sure don't remember any of it, so I wouldn't expect my kid to either. I don't plan on breastfeeding too much longer past 1 anyway- I may continue to pump and keep a freezer stash and give milk via bottle or sippy cup for longer though.

@sloaneandpuffy: This is my thought exactly. It's weird to me that someone would say extended breastfeeding isn't sexual, but then to say "well, actually, I'd only feel comfortable doing so for daughters and not sons".

No, it wouldn't make a difference to me. I hope to BF my daughter until 2, and I would do the same for a son.
