How will you feel if you move him and the sickness situation is unchanged? It doesn't seem like a guarantee to me that changing the environment will change the health of your child.

Kids are resilient and he will overcome the move. Even without a move he's likely to move classrooms soon'ish at the large center and will have a transition regardless.

My LO was in her first daycare from 6 months-1year and then I was off for summer break (I work in a middle school) and after that summer break we decided to start her in a new daycare close to my work (it was $800 cheaper a month, haha).

Even though the decision was mostly financial, the benefit was that I have been WAY more happy with the new daycare. LO has been less sick, but I think that's just because it's her second year and her immune system is better. But the teachers were much more communicative, the teachers seemed slightly more competent....there was nothing "wrong" with her old school, per se.....there were just more crying kids always and teachers seemed slightly less responsive to the crying, and the room was always more disorganized and crazy at the end of the day. These are all "small" things, but the new place has none of those issues and I just feel so much better about it.

LO was fine with the many transitions (daycare to home for two months to a new daycare), but she's pretty good with transitions in general.

I would just stick with the center you are at. The first year sucked for us with daycare illnesses for LO 1 but things improved a great deal when she was around 13-14 months. LO 2 didn't have the same rough first year at the same center and she started in the fall around sick season.

8 teachers in a day sounds like way too much! My LO has two main teachers, and then two floaters will be in there throughout the day to give the teachers their breaks, but there is always one of the main regular teachers in the room at all times. So that would concern me.

I might start looking for another option, but in home day cares have never been on our radar. I don't feel like there is enough accountability, and they don't offer anything close to the curriculum based learning that our LO gets at a big center. But that's a personal decision.

As far as the sickness, I don't think switching him is any guarantee. He'll still be exposed to lots of other kids and their germs. And honestly, a large center probably has a more organized/intense sanitization process than an in home.

My lo was sick for approximately 2 years of her life after starting daycare. I don't feel comfortable with home daycares so that wasn't even an option for us. We just dealt with it and figure now we all have healthier immune systems...
