Sigh. Mom life.

My kiddo turns 3 the first week of July. But since I am a teacher and have the summer off, I asked her school if we could do her "birthday" sometime this month. LO has recently become obsessed with birthdays, since a kid in her class has a birthday almost every week and they celebrate it at school.

A few weeks back, I asked the teacher if we could do LOs birthday in June before she's gone--teacher said yes. I asked the teacher for good dates that wouldn't conflict with other kids' birthdays or things--she said all days I suggested were all clear. So we picked this Friday.

All week long, LO has been saying "Friday is my School birthday! Friday is my school birthday" and really looking forward to it.

This morning at drop off, teacher says she just realized there is a conflict. They are having a Father's Day event on Friday (neither of us thought of that, but then again, I don't work there and have a calendar of their events) at 3 pm, and that's when they do the birthday parties--after nap, at snack time. The teacher asked if we can reschedule. Butttt...we are out of town ALL of next week. We're going to Canada. So we'd have to reschedule for 2 weeks from now. Lo is going to be very, very disappointed. She doesn't really understand "2 weeks".

I asked if we can somehow do her birthday stuff before the Father's Day event. But...They decorate the room and tables for Father's Day, so the little Daniel Tiger plates/tablecloth/cups I bought wouldn't be used (LO knows about the décor and is excited), and they will have to quickly sing to LO and move on, because the Teachers have to set up for the Father's Day event. And the teacher indiciated she thought it was too much to serve cupcakes followed by the Donuts for Dad.

=( =( Usually I'm so laid back, but LO is going to be crushed. She has been talking about her birthday every day for the past two weeks.

WWYD? Reschedule for 2 weeks from now? Have LO be crushed that she's not having her birthday Friday?

Or cram her birthday in hurriedly (they would move it up, so I wouldn't even be able to attend) before the Father's Day event, with no décor that I bought? And it seems the teachers aren't happy about doing that.

ugh.
