Bees, help me out. I just noticed that the inside of my lo's upper lip is attached to his gums in between his teeth. I'm pretty sure he wasn't born like this because when his two front teeth started coming out they were close together. Now there's a noticeable gap. Dr. Google is surprisingly not much help. Anyone have experience with this? I'm seeing it may cause speech delays, and (eventually) braces or surgery may be needed =(

You're talking about an upper lip tie. Are you concerned because of tooth spacing? There's no way to know whether an upper lip tie will cause speech delays/tooth issues because of the way the jaw/gum changes as babies grow and develop. It's totally normal and GOOD for upper teeth to have spaces between them. It gives space for the adult teeth to come in. ENTs/dentists only recommend clipping an upper lip tie as a baby if there is an issue with nursing/eating. So don't stress!

lip tie! I know there's been threads here about them! I know @rachiecakes 's son has a severe one. LMW has a pretty severe one as well. Didn't affect nursing or feeding and doesn't seem to affect her speech yet (she only babbles so far)! Both my kids have pretty bad tongue ties (Wagon Sr. does too) and other than more drool than other kids, they have both been fine with nursing/feeding/speech!
