No, full time day care is just crazy expensive. I'm in a relatively inexpensive city and I'm still getting quotes from $1000-$1500/month.

Our daycare is one of the more affordable ones in our area at about ~$1000/month (for an infant).

We pay $179/wk for 5 days a week, FT (7:30ish-5:15ish, including breakfast, lunch and a snack. It was recently reduced from $219/wk when he was in the younger class (he's in the preschool class now), and included their diaper service (unlimited diapers and wipes, so I never had to worry about it). I think it averages out to a little over half of my biweekly pay. It's one of the pricier places we looked at here (in Central PA), but we love it and it's a great place.

I just calculated it out and as of 10/1, my DD's daycare (full-time) will cost 21.6% of my gross annual salary (and I also make a very good salary, but childcare is stupidly expensive here). It used to be about 20% but a rent subsidy the center had isn't available anymore so they're raising the tuition pretty substantially. I'm bummed because she just moved up a room and I was looking forward to it being cheaper.

our area is expensive as well. toddler is $1700/month full time. my almost 3 year old is $1400/month, which would total to 40% of my salary! womp womp. we put our toddler in part time (luckily i can work from home a couple days a week) which brings it down to $1000/month for him. so thankful for that!!

I pay $1340/month in Dallas for full-time infant care.

This gets us up to 10 hours/day, 5 days a week, meals and snacks included (once they are done with baby purees). This is comparable to other full-time programs here.

We have both of ours in the same daycare and pay 8 months at a time to get a discount for ours (sibling discount + 2 discounts for paying in advance), and it averages to $2000/mo (normally about $2300-2400). Granted, this is more of school than a typical daycare, so it comes at a higher cost. But I think the average around here is $225/wk.

It works out to about 22% of my gross pay. Daycare centers around here are $200-300 per week depending on where you send your child. I live in a southern major city.

Wow, around here $800 is normal for infant care.

In my neighborhood in Brooklyn, daycare is between 2k and 3K a month!

In my area daycare is $1000-2500/month per child depending on location, age of your child and the particular center. It's a lot.

I live in Los Angeles. It really depends... I toured a few facilities but my top two were $1200-$1600/mo for full time infant care (that was 3 years ago).

I'm in the Midwest and its $50/day/kid. So we're at $500/week, or about 30% of my salary. But honestly, I never look at it like X% of "my" salary. It's X% of "our" income, because it is not my burden alone

I live in Ohio. Daycare is about 1200/mo for infants and gets a bit less for toddlers (I think when LO starts we'll be paying 1050/mo).

Under a year old works out to be $36 per day (unlimited hours between 6:30 and 6) but they don't include anything for that age. I live in a half suburban/half rural area.

Our preschool is $1350 a month. Less than we paid a nanny, but more than 25% of my take home for sure. Luckily we have two salaries. (SoCal)
