How much do you pay per month or week in daycare? I think we will have to put LO in daycare when he is around 6 months. I've been calling to area daycares and they are all about the same : 135 a week or about 540 a month. - we do live in a lower cost area!

wow! those prices are crazy low compared to ours. But we are in a high cost area (Boston suburb). We pay between $300-$400 per week and that's considered affordable in our area.

I wish we could find someone who baby sits in their home or a nanny - a situation where you pay by the day - because we really only need childcare 3 days a week but all of the daycares in the area make you pay by the week!

@coacheswife123: they don't change the rate if you're only part time? All the daycares in this area offer part time options-- # of full days, # of half days, etc.

@coacheswife123: Oh, that's kind of a bummer! Our daycare offers part-time at $55/day. Though your $135/week is still cheaper than what ours would be for 3 days!

Wow, those are incredible rates!! I live in a pretty high cost area (orange county, CA), but pay $208/week for full-time care... not too bad for our area I guess.

$840 per month for the full day montessori day care we're considering when LO turns 36 months. We live in a relatively high cost area (Vancouver).

DH is Active Duty and I work on base as well. There is actually a really nice Child center here on Base for Military. They go off of totall home income. So there are different levels of price, depends on what you make. There are 9 different pay levels. 9 being the highest. DH and I are a level 8, so once she is here and we put her in we will be paying around $600 a month.

That sounds awesome. Most of the daycares I like around my office are ~$1800/month, and most of the ones I like around DH's office are ~$1600/month.

Haha - well you ladies are definitively making me feel better about the costs!! That is the price for the best one where we live - it is really nice and has a brand new facility. I worked there many moons ago when I was in college!

We pay $160/wk about an hour north of Houston. I don't think it's too bad. If he was formula fed, they provide a particular kind of formula, and they provide lunches and snack for the older kids.

That is really low! I have only called one place so far and I was quoted $1127 a month. That is this year prices too, so I am sure next year it will go up. I am going on a tour of it next week to get more information. All my friends pay at least $200 a week around me as well.

@rachiecakes: When Wagon Jr. turned 2 years 9 months old he dropped to a lower rate because he's of preschool age now, so I guess it's cheaper because it's considered private preschool vs. daycare. I'm thankful!! It's $335/week. They only take 15 months and up, so I've been looking around at other daycare centers for LMW who will be 6 months when she goes in, and one of the bigger chain centers charges $400/week. They provide snacks but not lunch.
Oh, Wagon Jr.'s daycare provides nothing-- we provide snacks, lunch, diapers, wipes, etc.

Day care prices are crazy around here. I felt really lucky that I found a place for $450 a week. And I put my name on the waiting list around when I got my BFP.....we won't even need day care until January 2014.

I live in Tampa. We'll pay $235/week for "extended care" (between 9 and 11 hours) because my work day is 9 hours so with a commute it tips me over their full-time limit (grr).
When he turns 1, it will become $170/week. That does not include lunch, if we want lunch it will be $18 extra/week. It does include snacks.
The infant cost doesn't include diapers or wipes, either. Which is fine, because I don't want them using whatever cheap stuff they would end up buying.
It's a competitive price for this area.

$265 a week, we provide everything. We checked a number of daycares in the area and that seemed to be the going rate. We live in Colorado.

We originally were going with one for 155 a week, but one other in my area called to say they will have an opening for her. It is 208 a week. We took a tour and I think it is worth the extra $50 a week. The center is smaller, but the classrooms are considerably bigger and they have a 3:8 baby ratio compared to 2:8. They also have better reviews from those I know.
I live in the most expensive city in my state, but its still a relatively low cost area.

We'll be paying $350/week in Chicago, which is actually cheap in the area. We provide diapers, formula/breastmilk and changes of clothes. Once they start eating "people" food, the daycare provides food as well as wipes, diaper cream etc. She even does laundry. I love her.

We pay $275/week in the DFW area. We moved from a daycare that was $30 less per week and found the extra expense is definitely worth it. Now that she's 14 months all food is included (milk/water, 3 snacks, breakfast and lunch).

We pay $275 per week in Boston (I know its a great price!), its a small center and they do provide b-fast, lunch and snacks. It will go down to $255 per week when he is 15 months and if you send 2, you get a 15% discount. We love it!
But my work has daycare that starts at 2 yrs old-- -so that is the dilemma now. Should we move him at 2? What if we have another? Two drop offs?? Le sigh.

I'm researching right now and finding between $270 & $350 a week. This is in Northern Virginia also. DC burbs so high COL. We would need to provide our own diapers, wipes, formula or BM. Lunch is included in the more expensive ones when they get to the 16 months and up rooms. Very frustrating as our housing costs are high and if we can't find a daycare that works for us to commute together it will be at least $400 more a month in transit costs.

We're currently paying $230/week. We will be paying $330/week starting November 5th. It huuuuurts. Oh, I'm in Raleigh. The more expensive one is in the RTP area. We provide diapers and clothes. We provide bottles until she is off of breastmilk/formula. They provide the rest.

@sunshineandsushi: We actually live in St. Pete but I work near Westshore Mall, so I priced all infant care near where I work (within 10-15 minutes). We looked at a couple of places under $150 and they were pretty bad (IMO -- not that all those of that price are like that). We had a couple left on the list around $175 but we decided not to look at them after we found the daycare we ended up going with.
ETA -- also, yay Tampa! We really should do a meetup, I think there are a couple of us.

@ladyfingers: that makes sense! Originally we were going to use the one in downtown Tampa since that's where I work, but after finding out it was twins, we had to reevaluate - can't afford two at their rate!

@ladyfingers: Yep! My next-door neighbor had all three of her kids there. She said they're awesome, but pricey. The oldest just started Kindergarten, so she did some shifting around and now has three drop-offs and pick-ups each day. Oy! I don't know how she does it!
