What did you buy your own baby for his/her birthday when he/she turned a year old?
My own baby's first birthday is coming up at the end of next month. My parents are buying her an activity cube. I'm at a loss as to what to get her myself!

We got him a little fold out couch. Otherwise we would have gotten him a tricycle.

We got DD a wagon. A water table or kiddie pool might be nice for a summer birthday too.

A really nice personalized hand drawn print of his name with animals making up the letters. Got it on etsy to hang in his room.

We didn't get her anything. She didn't know the difference, so the party was our "present" to her

Spoons
Bubble wand
Poncho towels for swimming
Nothing extravagant. Like @Charm54: they didnt no the difference!

We didn't get anything. He didn't need anything and I don't like buying things just for the sake of buying.

PBK anywhere chair! One big gift was enough. He opened plenty of small toys from relatives!

We got her a wagon and a small indoor/ outdoor slide. She is currently 3.5 and both items are still played with a ton!

We didn't buy them big first birthday gifts, but a few months after her first bday I got my younger daughter a knock off anywhere chair from TJ Maxx and it's been a huge hit. The other long term favorites have been a ride on car and a super cheap doll stroller.

A name puzzle, a little plastic chair for outside, and an IKEA toy kitchen as a big present.

@agold: I honestly don't remember! Oops. But I'm mostly just commenting to say I can't believe your LO is already turning one!!

A cabbage patch doll was one thing I was most excited for, and honestly the only thing I can remember now. I'm thinking of buying Ds a learning tower for his first birthday though.

For DD it's hard to remember but I'm pretty sure I got her a chair from the LON. My parents got her bench/stool with her name (the letters come out like a puzzle). There were some other random things but I'd have to look at pictures.
I really want to get a LON for DS but haven't figured out where to put it.

A Hape play kitchen (October) and then a Cozy Coupe for Christmas and both are still getting a thrashing four years later!

I can't actually remember! We didn't do a 'big' present. I remember for B we bought him a few things and then he got so many presents at his birthday party that we ended up not giving him any of the things we got, and just saved them to dole out on rainy days. W had a much smaller party so we gave him the presents but I don't remember what they were.

A bike trailer and a water table. Grandparents bought water play toys and his helmet.

We got her an IKEA toy kitchen and also a table and chair set. She didn't really play with the kitchen for a while and the table was def too big and would have been fine for her 2nd birthday! We didn't get anything for her 2nd birthday.

We did a kidkraft play kitchen. Grandparents/aunts/uncles did the following that were all huge hits (and still are now at almost 3): little tikes basketball hoop, soccer goal, little people barn, wagon.

We got the V tech sit to stand walking toy for DD and a water table for DS. My kiddos were cruising but not yet walking at that age.

I haven't really done gifts for him yet b/c he doesn't care or know what is going on. However, I did get a water table for him around the time of his 1st birthday, which we use all the time (and he's almost 2 now). Great option for the summer and it was like $30.

We got a bookcase for his room and a few board books. We would've bought the bookcase anyway and he didn't know the difference. It didn't even arrive before his birthday nor did we have it assembled right away. He only unwrapped the books. He got plenty of toys and clothes from our families, and we didn't feel the need to add to the pile.

We got this little play kitchen, which was a huge hit (and still is at 2.5)

I don't remember what we got DS. But for DD we got her this: https://www.target.com/p/radio-flyer-174-4-in-1-stroll-n-trike-pink/-/A-14218505
We have so many toys already I don't think there's any point in getting anything else. But the gifts DS got when he was 1 that were big hits are his water table, cozy coupe and play kitchen. They all still get played with almost 3 years later.

A stuffed animal. We threw them a big party and they got plenty of gifts from family and friends.

We got him a Hape walker/ride on toy- the red one, Mega Blocks, Melissa & Doug classic blocks, Montessori style puzzle, three books including a Dr. Seuss theme first bday. Family gifted two types of stacker toys (1 plastic, 1 wood) a talking Elmo, and clothes. If I were to do it all over again I would just get a Learning Tower. The rest are good gifts, but he had to grow into them a little bit.

Basically nothing! She got SO MUCH STUFF from grandparents, and I collected several new-to-us items from Buy Nothing to give her, I decided she didn't need anything else. I did the same thing for her 2-year birthday, even wound up holding back one of the Buy Nothing gifts for a future occasion since it just felt like overload.

we made a teepee for our oldest (that we still have up in our living room) and a ride on bouncy unicorn for our youngest (like a rody)
