I posted about this once before but I'm back for more support, and to vent.

Basically, my son has gas and it's getting worse. He wakes himself up from sleep to fuss, contort his body and toot. Sometimes he just writhes and the gas doesn't come out. Now it's getting worse and he's having gas all day. It's affecting breastfeeding -- which we finally got to a fairly pain-free point. But now he's squirming at the breast and pulling himself off and relatching several times over, so he's not feeding as well (I don't think). He's also waking up more times in the night to fuss about it. He has brief happy times where he smiles and babbles again after pooping, and then not too long after he's back to being unhappy and uncomfortable.

I was trying to eliminate dairy and did for about a week before selfishly reintroducing it -- but I had read it could just be an immature GI tract to blame, and not food sensitivities. But it sounds so laborious and hard to figure out what the culprit would be, and could take a long time to figure it out. If it turns out it's not dairy, then I have to cut out soy, or wheat next?! Then if that fails, the next thing... and how long do I wait in between before cutting the next food? Or what if I eliminate it all at once, but then if it works I'll never know exactly what is upsetting his tummy. Raaaaah!

Sigh. Did anyone just deal with bad gas until it actually did go away? My pediatrician says if it is just his body to blame, it should get better at 3 or 4 months old. I just dunno.
