What is/was your baby movement like at 25 weeks? I'm starting to get kind of worried. I went to the midwife last Monday and told her that baby isn't very active. She said the baby is still small and its a little early for kick counts, but asked if I have about 10 movements in 12 hours. I said I thought so, but the last few days I haven't and it worries me. Baby had a strong heartbeat last Monday and I do feel movement, but it's just very infrequent. Also I haven't felt any kicks from the outside. I forgot to ask at my ultrasound where my placenta is so I'm hoping it's just the placenta position muffling things. Regardless I think I'm going to call on Monday. Has anyone else experienced this?

@mrs. 64: hey there. Good to hear baby had a good strong heartbeat! I have always worried about movement...it seemed like everyone but me had consistently felt their baby since like 14 weeks and their DH's felt movement since then too!! I'm exaggerating but that's what it felt like to me. I had very inconsistent movement/questionable movement (like is that the baby or me??) movement up until about two or three weeks ago. (I'm almost 29 weeks now) It wasn't until I think after my 25th week appointment that I could confidently say I felt consistent movement. It's still not always consistent- I didn't feel him all day on Monday (it was very hot and I was going till like 9 at night but I called the doctor bc I was worried).

My husband has only felt movement twice and the doctor said today that is is still rare to feel movement outside at this point and some people may never have that! I have an anterior placenta which may contribute to that.

I hope this helps. Always call your doctor if you're concerned but I think my situation sounds similar to yours.

@mrs. 64: @Apples4Teacher: this is what it was like for me last time when i had an anterior placenta. i'd feel some movement every day but not alot and it was very soft. from what my dr has said, once you hit 28 weeks you should be able to start doing kick counts, before then its still too early. my last pregnancy even during the most active times of day, some times i would get 10 movements in 30 min or less, sometimes 10 movements in an hour. i was def worried but it ended up just being normal for that pregnancy. so i understand what you guys are feeling. i'd def see what your doctor has to say bout it. even this pregnancy, i get worried and i feel this baby alot more than last time. i just figure i make sleepy babies?? haha anyway, hopefully your dr can give you more info but it was def normal for me not to feel very much last pregnancy!

@mrs. 64: IF you're worried, have a sugary drink like OJ, lay down and start counting.

But this is still early for some to feel frequent movements. I remember with M I didn't feel regular movements till later on.

@Apples4Teacher: @kodybear: @locavore_mama: Thanks guys. I'm glad others have had similar experiences. I think I will check back with my doctor on Monday for some peace of mind.

Is anyone else still dealing with morning sickness? It has never let up and suddenly in the past two weeks feels like I'm back in the trenches of the first trimester. I optimistically thought my second pregnancy would be like my first and the ms would go away by 20 weeks or so! I don't want baby boy to come early, but I get excited thinking about labor and not being sick anymore (and meeting him of course)!

Can't believe so many of us are in or approaching the third trimester!!!

So I had my glucose test today! All I have to say is Yuck! They only had fruit punch (again, and is my least favorite flavor of all things). The room they had me in was really warm and mid conversation with my Dr. I started sweating and started to not feel well at all. I really thought I was going to lose it with only ten minutes left. Laying down and a cold cloth made me feel a million times better in seconds. Hopefully I pass because I really don't want to do that again any time soon.

28 weeks tomorrow so I will officially be in the 3rd trimester. Eek. Now I go to the doctor every other week. Only 13 ish weeks to go.

How everyone else doing? How did your glucose test go? Did you have any side effects?

Eta: my next appointment (30 weeks) is June 2nd. Wait... June is only 2 weeks away??

@Mrs. M: yikes i'm so sorry you're dealing with that still! I had it pretty bad from 6-13 weeks or so, but thankfully it has subsided. Does anything help?

@Aandmklover: I have my 28 week and a glucose test coming up May 30, but i'm not sure if that's when they start the biweekly checkups, I'm kind of hoping not bc it's a pain!

So the every-2-week appointments start at around 28 weeks?
I'll be 26 weeks this Friday... I'll ask at my next OB appt but just wanted to know in advance what to (sorta) expect.

@Aandmklover: Oh gosh, hopefully you pass!

I'm doing okay. Had a little scare and ended up in L&D being monitored overnight. Glad baby is okay and happy to be home. My husband did say it was a good preview for what to expect in August!

@Aandmklover: Yuck! Hope you pass! If not, you could just refuse to take it again and go for the GD diet.

My test is coming up soon, on 5/30

@msmug: My doctor doesn't do every 2 weeks until 32, then weekly at 36. I think every doctor is different!

@Aandmklover: Ugh, hopefully you do pass! I would hate a fruit punch flavor too... yuck!

@BakerBee: Oh no!! Glad you're okay!

@Mrs. M: AH, so sorry! I really hope it doesn't stay around very long - I can't even imagine STILL having to deal with that

I think I'm now feeling my first hiccups! Can't help but feel a little sorry for baby Wish I could send in a spoonful of peanut butter to stop it for him!

  15. LBee

    pomegranate / 3895 posts

@Mrs.Someone: awww! I found out at an ultrasound recently that what I thought were kicks on my left side are actually hiccups. I was feeling "movement" before the scan and they turned on the screen and there he was hiccuping away.

  16. swurlygurl

    honeydew / 7091 posts

@mrs. 64: Baby sister is not moving very much. Maybe... 3-4 times a day? It's SO different from when I pregnant with L, because she moved non-stop from 8 am - 5 pm (which meant DH never got to feel her, hah). But, I think I'm also carrying this baby lower? And it feels like she's tucked away on one side - it's awkward feeling. I always felt like L was all up in my ribs and throat, but this baby is just in the way of my hips. Makes me wonder if this labor is going to be much quicker. I had to labor down with L for many hours so I didn't exhaust myself pushing

@Mrs.Someone: Oh, that is the cutest!! I love the hiccups!! I hope this baby gets some

How's everyone feeling with the temperatures starting to rise?

I am a freaking heater, apparently. It was 70 outside one day and it definitely felt like it was over 100. It's hard for me to tell how to dress L because this pregnancy is making me feel so hot all the time! I'm slightly concerned about how I'm going to feel once it IS over 100... Also, my fingers are sausages, but nothing else is swollen - complete opposite of last pregnancy where everything was swollen except my hands.

  19. LBee

    pomegranate / 3895 posts

@swurlygurl: I'm weird, but I am still cold natured and not having any kind of heat issues. I have been okay with swelling, but I can't sleep in my rings anymore. If I don't take them off when I get in bed, I seem to take them off in my sleep? It's weird, but I wake-up and they are always gone. We recently found my wedding band under the bed (after a frantic search). My husband thought I was mad at him the first night he saw my rings on the bedside table. I told him pregnancy had made me dramatic, but not THAT dramatic.

Do you have a pool near you? That's my summer plan.

I don't think I've felt any hiccups yet! I mostly feel what seems like either kicks and jabs or somersaults lol!

@pui: same! no hiccups yet. but baby is having a party in there 24/7, he never sleeps!

@Aandmklover: i passed my test! mine was orange flavored. like flat orange soda. it wasn't that bad... i was starting to feel alittle weird towards the end i think partly bc i didn't eat anything before. But after I ate i was better! sorry you felt sick from it!

@msmug: every 2 weeks starting at 28 weeks for me. then every week starting at 36 weeks!

@BakerBee: hope everything is okay!!! scary that you ended up in l&d!

@swurlygurl: i'm feeling alittle warmer than normal but not too bad yet.. we just had a heat wave here (90-100s!!!) and i stayed indoors alot! the hottest part of the summer around here should be aug-sept so hopefully the rest of the summer b4 baby isn't too bad! my wedding rings have been bothering me alot lately tho. i don't think i'm swollen (yet) but the rings are def irritating my finger so i don't wear them as much.

  23. Mrs. M

    kiwi / 645 posts

@Aandmklover: I wasn't a huge fan of the fruit punch either. I had orange during my first pregnancy and that was a little better! Good luck!

@chibee: @swurlygurl: Thank you! Since nothing really helps I'm just counting down the days until the nausea is replaced by sleep deprivation. I will take that trade off!

@swurlygurl: I'm not loving that the third trimester is during the summer. It makes my morning sickness worse and puts me in a cranky mood lately! I live in the southwest and we've already had a few 100 plus days. I'm trying to stay inside as much as possible unless it's super early or around dusk. Recently I've had a few wake ups where I've kicked off covers and asked my husband to adjust the air!

Auuugh. So my SIL (who is also pregnant) is currently staying in our basement. She's super sick with some kind of cold/flu. She even went to the ER a few days ago. Well now I think I've caught whatever she has So far I just have a terrible cough and muscle aches, but I have a feeling the fever and puking is coming...

@pui: Boo Start downing the OJ? Speaking of your SIL, how are she and baby doing otherwise? My photographer did a session with a baby who has a cleft palette and it was really nice. Let me know if you want to see it.

So the debate about when 3rd trimester starts... I would say I'm in the 3rd trimester today - 6 months pregnant today!! Wooohooo!!! 9 months/3 trimesters = 3 months/trimester.This puts me 1 day shy of 27 weeks. Soooo... totally fluctuating based on days in months, and different for each person, but that's my opinion of the day
