@swurlygurl: lol I think I'm going to count 28 weeks as third tri... although my app did say 27 weeks was third tri. I don't want to admit to myself I'm in the third tri already.

Augh, I'm still feeling pretty crappy. My cold is mostly gone except for some left-over chest congestion, but now I have sore teeth (???) literally, it feels like I am back in 7th grade and my braces were just tightened. Is this a pregnancy thing? Also starting last night and continuing in to this morning I am so nauseated. I feel like I'm back in the first Trimester.

@pui: oh no! I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. Probably just low immune system?

I've heard your guns can become more sensitive during pregnancy so general mouth or tooth pain could be normal. U less it's specifically on one tooth or area then I wouldn't worry too much. They do make a sensitive tooth paste maybe you could try.

How is everyone else? We are all almost in the third trimester! I'm really feeling the changes too!

@pui: the same thing happened to me! I was dealing with a lot of sinus issues the last couple of weeks. You wouldn't believe the amount of snot that was coming out my nose (gross I know). I woke up in the middle of the night and the whole right side of my face hurt then the next morning my whole jaw hurt then over the next few days it got better. But my upper molars on that side had pain! I got worried and went to the dentist. My teeth are fine but it turns out that sinus problems can cause tooth pain. My dentist said that the roots of those upper molars go into your sinuses. I went back to taking a daily allergy med, and my tooth pain went away and I'm not as stuffed up anymore. I found that also doing a saline rinse of my nose once a day helped clear out a lot of stuff.

Hope you start feeling better soon!

can't believe alot of us are in the 3rd trimester now! i delivered my first at 37w5d which means maybe 10 weeks or less till i meet my baby?! (i'm 28w now) i'm hoping i make it to 37 weeks with no issues, after that i'm all ready! our weekends are so busy for the next couple weeks, hope we have time to get the nursery together soon!

hope all that have their glucose testing soon pass!

@pui: no experience with this but hope you feel better soon!

@pui: So sorry you aren't feeling well. I can totally relate and I know it feels awful to have nausea constantly. I hope you feel better soon!

This pregnancy has been so much different than my first. Besides still being sick everyday (I swear it's Groundhog's Day around here for the past 6 months) I also have intense round ligament pain near my inner thighs and super low energy (did not have this with my first pregnancy until the very end). Are any other second time moms experiencing a much different pregnancy this time around?

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@Mrs. M: I had really bad pains around 20-25 weeks and I got really scared it would be the rest of the pregnancy but I am feeling better now. I think it was just a bad growth spurt. I am still a bit scared though how bad the end will be though!

    kiwi / 645 posts

@T.H.O.U.: Maybe this pain will go away too...thank you for sharing! Yes, I'm a little scared about the end too. At least from past experience I know it goes by fast and then suddenly you have a newborn (who grows up too fast)!

@T.H.O.U.: 2 more days until i'm 28 weeks so i'm so close to the third trimester! I feel sluggish - is this normal? i feel like i'm still going to get so much bigger!

I had weird pains Sunday night - maybe braxton hicks? but i read they weren't supposed to hurt so it worried me a little, and i had a little bit of pelvic pressure so i just stayed in bed from 6:30pm till the next morning and felt normal the day after. It freaked me out, and if that's what contractions feel like (and i'm sure i felt 1/10000th of it) i am going to be screaming for an epidural as soon as i get to the hospital lol

@chibee: How are you feeling now? BH can kinda hurt (well not hurt but you feel them). But yes, thats kinda how contractions feel but for me they were more internal? Like BH was more on top (like muscle level) but the actual contractions were obviously deeper inside by the uterus.

@Mrs. M: How are you feeling now? I'm not really feeling much different just a lot of the pains much sooner!

    kiwi / 645 posts

@T.H.O.U.: The round ligament pain is much better now...thanks for asking! It still hurts to change positions when I'm sleeping or getting in and out of bed, but it no longer feels like my legs are going to fall off!

My BH are in full swing. I have them a lot, but the doctor said not to worry.

I had an appointment last week and was shocked to hear that from my belly measurement I was measuring right on. Hoping baby boy is just under 8 lbs like his sister!

    How is everyone doing?

    @Mrs. M: I had my appointment today!

OB said everything is looking good. Passed the 1 hr GD but iron levels are a bit low. Weight gain is still normal and below where I was with pregnancy 1 at this point. Fundal height was a big large and with d being so big we will do another ultrasound later on to check size.

Starting two week appointments with my next one June 17 (30 weeks)

  16. chibee

    @T.H.O.U.: much better! thanks!!

My 28 week appointment was Friday- everything went well! I had the GD test, and they will call me if there's a problem, so hoping for no news! Weight gain is normal i guess? I feel HUGE compared to last month's checkup but apparently i've only gained 3lbs, meaning 14lbs overall gain so far.

And I had my last appointment at the perinatologists! I've been going every 4 weeks for a cervical length checkup since I had a LEEP in May 2013, but it's been normal every time and now they're finally done! But they always checked on the baby so that was fun. The baby weighs 2lbs 10 ozs at 28 weeks 1 day.

Now i'm anxious for his arrival! Although i have nothing ready - haven't even started on the nursery ahhhh

i had my appt on friday as well, everything is still looking good! i'm alittle over 29 weeks now, can't wait to get into the 30s!

i forget if i asked this before, can anyone tell if their baby is breech or head down? i know its alittle early to worry about it, but i'm pretty sure my baby is breech (last u/s showed breech) and i still feel the most movement low. i have another u/s soon so we'll see! i'm sooo hoping the baby turns bc i don't want to have a cs!!

my to-do list from a couple weeks ago is pretty much the same now the only thing i've really done is pre-registered at the hospital. so one less thing to think about!

  18. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@kodybear: My OB did say he thought we were head down at this last apt. And based on the movement he saw while doing the doppler, he said, yup, those are feet up there!

  19. chibee

    pear / 1974 posts

@kodybear: the tech said my baby was head down on Friday - but i guess it could change? I have no idea actually. I feel movement everywhere, all over, all day. I can't wait to get into the 30s either!

Forgot to mention that i am now starting every other week appointments! Yikes.

  21. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@BakerBee: Oh no! I'm sorry! I did get a topical steroid but it didn't help.

Here is what I did for about 10 days:

Once you are sure you have washed EVERYTHING that could have come in contact with the oils, you can start taking a really hot shower in the morning. This kept the itches away until about 2-3pm. Shower was all the way hot and I held the shower head as close to my skin as I could (down by my legs). I didn't shave because I didn't want to open the pores.

Topical creams as you can stand them (but they never did much for me). They are really expensive to buy a ton. To help get rid of it, I did both a baking soda scrub (mix vinegar and baking soda to a thick paste and scrub hard on your skin) and then a baking soda paste and let it sit on my skin as long as I could.

At night I took 1-2 benedryl to help me sleep. Sometimes I took a second hot shower before bed or an oatmeal bath.

@BakerBee: oh no! Poison Ivy! Ick. Good luck getting better.

Had my 30 week appointment today. Passed GD test at a 107 and baby's heartbeat was 150. Since my water broke on it's own at 37 weeks last time we are starting checks earlier at 35 weeks this time. That's only 5 weeks away. Ahhh! My next appointment is 32 weeks June 16th.

  24. kodybear

    pear / 1616 posts

@Aandmklover: my water broke naturally the first time at 37w5d. honestly i'm hoping the same happens again around the same time. did your dr say anything about whether it'll happen around the same time/earlier/later the second time around? i'm sure it depends but i just don't want to get into that waiting in anticipation stage.

  25. Aandmklover

    kiwi / 506 posts

@kodybear: I brought it up because the dr with my son stopped delivering so this is my first time with her. I was asking because last time I never had the results from my group b strep because it was swabbed only 12 hours earlier. Since they didn't know the results I was treated as if I had it and had to stay an extra day. I'd like to be In the hospital as little as possible this time so I can get back to DS.

I'd love for this one to come at 37 weeks too. As long as it's ready.

I just got the best news... no more blood work for the rest of the pregnancy!!! i really am not a fan of getting my blood drawn (i bruise easy and it looks ugly when someone doesn't know what they're doing!) i passed my glucose test (90!) so this means i can continue to have my ice cream (drumsticks, specifically speaking) every night, right?

@kodybear: i think your dr or midwife should be able to tell if baby is head down around 28-30wks, but they told me they dont really start paying attention until 32wks.

The midwife did recommend a website called spinningbabies.com (terrible name if you ask me), but it has GREAT tips for keeping good posture and for naturally helping baby turn to a head down position. I've been doing some of the daily activies and it seems to be working so far! Might be worth a peak!

@BakerBee: I hope you are feeling better!!!

Did anyone not pass their GD test? I would be lost without my evening ice cream!

We found out today that we got into our company daycare which is right on site! I'm so thrilled. The wait list is long, so we were unsure if we'd get a spot. But this means I can just walk over to nurse during the workday instead of pumping if I want.

How's everyone doing on nursery and baby prep? I feel like I'm making good progress but with only 8 1/2 weeks left it feels like I need to get my butt in gear!

  31. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

@Mrs. M: Oh you poor thing! I could not imagine still dealing with morning sickness. Yeah, things have definitely been different. I had some weird sciatica/butt pain for a couple of weeks then it went away. Now i have a sore tail bone. Never had any of that with my first.

@kodybear: I feel like she goes from being head down to like laying sideways in there. I feel like I can tell by where I feel the hiccups. I feel them low in my belly and on the side sometimes.

    @chibee: yay! Great news.

@JennyPenny: great news on the daycare! That will be awesome to be able to nurse instead of pump!

Nursery is starting to come along. I've been sewing things like crazy the last few days but still feel like I have a lot to do. We at least have all the baby gear we would need since we saved it all from baby #1. But I HAVE to get the nursery done before she arrives! I know it's not necessary, but if I don't do it now, it will never get done. I feel like I have so much to do before she arrives!

  32. Mrs.Someone

The nursery is a little stalled at the moment. I plan on starting the crib sheets today, but I still haven't purchased the mattress! It went up about $60 on Amazon a few days before I was ready to purchase, so I've been hoping it will go back down. I'll probably take it over to a friend's house to make sure the first one fits before making more.

Otherwise, I have materials for a mobile on its way, and we still need to pick out some artwork. Anything else is hopefully going to be gifted at my shower at the end of the month

@MrsT927: i'm a big baby when it comes to dietary restrictions so i'm really glad i passed, i just recently got in the habit of having something sweet every single night so if i had to give that up i think i would have burst into tears!

@JennyPenny: only 8 1/2 weeks left for you that's crazy!!

Can someone please kick me into gear with starting the nursery? I have nothing. I'm using the excuse that the crib i ordered isn't here yet but i really could be clearing the room out, etc...

Question for 2nd (and 3rd?) time moms - are there any more ultrasounds coming up before birth? I've been getting them every 4 weeks since 8 weeks on but now that I've "graduated" from the perinatalogists I'm wondering if that's it? I do have to go in for bi-weekly checkups from now on but they only check bp, urine, weight and heartbeat.

  35. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@chibee: The bigger you get, the harder cleaning and working on the nursery is going to be? As for the ultrasounds, my OB's office gives out a schedule of all appointments and there are no more scheduled. I would imagine it's on an as-needed basis.

  36. kodybear

    pear / 1616 posts

@chibee: usually not. the only reason would be if there is a growth concern like your fundal height is too small/too big. I had to get a growth scan last time at 34 weeks because my fundal height was too small by 2-3 weeks. and yes, eat ice cream! haha i feel like i'm eating sweets all day everyday!

@MrsT927: i heard of spinning babies! i think my next u/s is this week or early next, so if the baby is still breech i'm going to be doing whatever i can to turn him around!

@JennyPenny: haha my nursery prep/baby prep is stalled. we need to renovate one of our rooms so that we can move the guest bedroom furniture out of the nursery. so i'm kind of waiting on that.

  37. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@chibee: I asked that at my appointment today and I was told I'm done with ultrasounds unless there's a problem. It's probably different for each practice though.

Our nursery is somewhat stalled too. We had a big project - some diy built-ins that are pretty much done. But the crib I wanted just went out of stock on amazon and all the major retailers! A couple places have it listed as back ordered till late June, so I'm hoping this is true. I so don't want to try and pick a new one, and I think ordering end of June will still get here in time...

    Hope everyone is doing well!

C is in the NICU and will be for several months. We've had a lot of ups and downs already and it is very hard. We are staying positive and taking things a day at a time. I am so lucky to be the mama to my beautiful, strong, and sweet girl.
