Calling all August 2014 Mummas!

    @locavore_mama: @Mrs. M: @msmug: I'm glad it's not just me. She was moving around like crazy last night before bed for like 2 hours. And I kept getting those sharp pains. Then I was getting excited b/c I thought maybe labor was starting. haha

    @yellowskates: You are probably feeling braxton hicks contractions which are contractions that don't dilate you. When my labor started, I woke up in the middle of the night and had to go #2. Then a little while later, I started getting contractions that felt like menstrual like cramps. They would come and go pretty regularly. Not too long after those started, they started wrapping around to my back as well. They were coming every 5-10 minutes at first.

    @mrskc: haha every time I have to go #2 at weird (for me) times I get excited and think "could this be it?!". haha

    Labor symptom spotting is way worse than pregnancy symptom spotting.

    @locavore_mama: OMG, seriously! Especially since that's how mine started for DS. Last night I had to go #2 again for the second time that day and that got me excited too. lol Ugh, this is seriously the worst. I was not like this at all with #1.

    @locavore_mama: I agree, labor spotting is worse!

    I'm having bad back aches and I keep trying to determine if its back contractions but usually its just because I've sat in a position for too long.

    @mrskc: haha and of course our 2nd pregnancy will start completely different than #1!

    @T.H.O.U.: haha me too on the back pain. Le sigh. It's weird because it's usually when I'm laying down on my side! Which is why the snoogle has been great.

    @locavore_mama: @mrskc: thank you both for your replies! (here and the other thread). I've definitely been getting more consistent BH over the last few weeks...these ones just felt different, because they sometimes felt achy and sometimes feel crampy - it's just only when I'm standing or walking and never sitting. It's probably just extra fun BH, as you guys said. I'll keep waiting on that 'wrap around back pain' that you've described. Thanks ladies!

    And I have to add YES to the every time I head to the bathroom! I have to actively stop myself from thinking that, as the frequency has picked up the last few days, haha!

    Is anyone else's coworkers starting to get overly excited? Every day, I get a lot of comments about whether or not I've dropped, how this baby is for sure coming any moment, etc and I 'm starting to not be sure what to reply when I say "see you tomorrow" and they say "probably not! haha" Especially because I keep showing up and we have to do the whole process all over again at the end of the day.

    @Aandmklover: congratulations!!

    @jennypenny: congrats!! What a cutie!! Love the name!

    @kodybear: congratulations!!

    My labor story, abbreviated
    I actually started to feel sick around 5pm last Thursday night and started throwing up and having some stomach cramps. Called the doctor but she said I probably wasn't in labor but to come in the next day. At 2 am, got up to go the bathroom and felt my water break. When I was admitted I was checked by the nurse and was 2 cm, and 100% effaced. Started having horrible contractions and begged for the epidural but my doctor wanted me to wait until I was further along as to not slow down the process. Labored until 7 am when I got the epidural and my doctor was finally able to check me. Turns out, she could not feel the head and we were quickly wheeled into the OR for a c-section as Baby Apples was breech! He was born at 8:25 am, 6 pounds and 8 ounces. My recovery is going way better than I thought and while caring for an infant is harder than I ever imagined, I wouldn't trade it for anything!

    I'm thinking of all you guys and hoping for great deliveries!!

    @BakerBee: I am 2 days from my due date and still feeling pretty good! Wearing compression socks all day long but I am still walking around just fine and nesting like crazy. Good luck to everyone and congrats on the babies so far!

    @yellowskates: Yes yes and yes to the coworkers! We have the same dialogue everyday about how my belly is dropping and I'm waddling more and 'have you had the baby yet' and 'MAYBE we'll see you tomorrow'. I fully expect to last another 2.5 weeks - it's starting to get really old!

    @Apples4Teacher: Congrats again!! Stinkin babies already throwing us surprises - glad everything turned out well!!

    I'm 38+3 today and I woke up crying because I would already be in labor with DS at this point. I don't know how I'm going to make it a couple more weeks if she decides to stay put. I'm going to drive myself crazy!

  15. LBee

    pomegranate / 3895 posts

    @mrskc: I know it's hard because you had DS "early" - you are not alone and you can freely vent here. Labor spotting is so miserable, I can't even imagine how I would feel if it was coupled with the knowledge that my first child came around this point in my pregnancy. Try to stay busy and enjoy these last few days / weeks.

    @Apples4Teacher: Congrats on the baby!!!

    @yellowskates: I don't get coworkers asking me as much these days since I"m working from home now until the babies arrive. But everyone and their mothers have been asking me how I'm feeling. I know they are just asking because they care or want to know.. but it's getting annoying having to answer the same thing over and over

    @mrskc: aw I'm sorry! I imagine I'll feel the same when/if I go past my date with LO1!

    honeydew / 7091 posts

    @mrskc: Ugh, so sorry!! It's so frustrating having to wait, and wait, and waaaiiittt.

    I had a dream last night that my water was slowly breaking all day at work, like not sure if I was having a leaky bladder or not. Kinda sad to wake up this morning and not have any labor symptoms

    @BakerBee: @locavore_mama: @swurlygurl: Thanks ladies. This labor spotting really is worse than being in the TWW.

    @mrskc: any reliable sitters for a last date night before being parents of 2?

  21. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

    @locavore_mama: that's a good idea. My mom and grandma are both around. Maybe we'll try and go out tomorrow night.

  22. Mrs. Milk

    blogger / apricot / 310 posts

    @Apples4Teacher: congrats mama!

    @swurlygurl,@msmug: YES, thank you! I appreciate their love and concern but the attention and focus seems to only multiply mine as well. I feel like every morning when I wake up I have to come to terms that, yep, I do get to go to work today. Again.

    And a big hell yes to the labor symptom spotting. I can't help but feel every twinge is the start of something, and every time I stand up I have to hold down resentment that my water didn't break. Which is insane. I know it's all gonna happen in it's own good time, but I feel like my mind is constantly saying "now? is this it?" So glad I'm not alone.

    Does anyone else have a weird preference for the 'date' that baby will come? I find myself saying "ooh, don't come that day!" For example, weirdly, I'd love to baby to be born tomorrow (8/6) because 8 plus 6 equal 14 (8/6/14). Am I alone in this super strange thinking?

  23. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

    @yellowskates: I agree with the mentally trying to "schedule" and pick dates!

  24. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

    @yellowskates: yes, everyday I decide if I like the date for a birthday! I like even numbers so 8/6 or 8/8 would be nice.

    It's probably good she's not coming today. My cousin was due today but lost her baby at 26 weeks.

  25. Mrs. Milk

    blogger / apricot / 310 posts

    @T.H.O.U. & @mrskc: so glad I'm not alone! I also like even dates, haha!

    also, @mrskc, that's so sad - sending love to your cousin today, on her due date.

  26. smores

    @mrskc: no, I'm fairly certain he was breech my entire pregnancy haha. At our 20 week ultrasound he was and again at an elective ultrasound we had done for Father's Day around 30ish weeks. The doctors kept saying they felt his head down below but I didn't have any medical ultrasounds after my 20 week one so it was just their best guess!!

    And, I'm so sorry for your cousins loss.

    Had a doctor's appointment today and everything still looks normal/good. Doctor says that baby has definitely dropped. He told me to expect internal exams starting next week. It's definitely gotten harder for me to move around... I'm really glad I finished all my preparing last week!

    37 week check up this morning. Baby is at a 2 station and I'm halfway thinned out. OB said likely no baby this week.

    Due date, no baby in sight, OPI's fall collection comes out today (I'm an OPI snob).

    3 guesses as to what I'm doing today and the first two don't count.

    We have 6 babies due by Saturday!! Sending lots of labor thoughts to all you mommas!!

    @yellowskates: My due date is 8/22, which I've really grown to like because 8 + 22 = 30. That doesn't really mean anything, but it's easy math and they fit together nicely... haha! So, I guess I'm a little weird too

    @locavore_mama: 2 station = ?? 2 cm? Sometimes I still feel so stupid about all this birthing talk

    @sera_87: Are you going to be painting your toes, or just your nails?! I tried my toes this weekend and couldn't DH got quite a kick out of watching me try though... haha. What colors are you getting?

    I'm really surprised at how not-bad I'm feeling. Not awesome, obv, as there is a 7 pound baby stuffed in my belly, but not terrible! 2.5 more weeks, and I feel like I could totally go another month. I would probably freak out if I went into labor today - not mentally ready! Plus, I have too much going on at work, I really have no idea what they would do with my projects if I go into labor early

    I am getting a little anxious to see her though

    @swurlygurl: I am right there with you. I am due the 23rd and still feel good overall. Tired but otherwise good. Also, I am secretly hoping for a 22nd delivery as I like the double digits for some weird reason. And, if baby girl decides to come early I will freak out as I met with my supervisor this morning to go over what I need to finish up before I start maternity leave and OMG, I need the 2.5 weeks I have left!!

    I agree, I am really trying to be thankful that I surprisingly feel really good for being 38+ weeks with a huge baby in the heat of the south. I mean I'm tired and uncomfortable but I'm not in major pain or anything.

    @swurlygurl: bwah! I haven't been able to paint my toenails since the end of June. Thankfully SO is more than happy to do it. I got 2 colours from their Nordic collection - Thank Glogg it's Friday (a really pretty berry creme) and Viking in a Vinter Vonderland (a purple-black).

    just wanted to pop in to say i can't wait to meet more of our august babies!

    I posted this in the gold thread but here is a quick version of our birth story:

    Our baby boy was born at 4:21am 8/3! I had started feeling contractions during dinner last night but they were really mild and I only felt 3 in 2 hrs. They started to get more frequent throughout the evening so we headed in to get checked at 11pm. I was at 5cm. I was borderline to get admitted since contractions were mild altho regular at 2-3 min apart apparently (didn't feel all of them). so they had me walk around the floor for 40 min. By the end of it the contractions were more intense and I progressed to 6-7 cm. I got my epi around 7cm at 215am. Then they broke my water at 315. I progressed from 7-10 cm in 45 min after that! I pushed for 15 min and the baby was out!

    Life is crazy but good now! getting used to our new normal. hoping everyone else has a fast and smooth delivery!
