Calling all August 2014 Mummas!

@Mrs.Someone: Any particular reason? I was always hoping for a Friday so that my husband could miss the least amount of work. I'm crazy like that.

  2. Mrs.Someone

@BakerBee: The main reason is that my brother is in town this weekend for a wedding, and if baby comes, I can hopefully convince him he doesn't need to fly back for a bris. He is broke so my mom pays for plane tickets And you know, walking isn't terribly comfortable, so I just want to get the show on the road, AFTER tomorrow (our anniversary).

@Mrs.Someone: Oh yes, I remember that. Sorry - I can barely remember a bra these days. Happy anniversary! Any big plans? It's not our anniversary, but we are planning for this Saturday to be a special day as our potential last weekend without a baby.

@kodybear: Yay! Easy pushing!! I'm hoping my second delivery is quick as well.

@locavore_mama: Oh, haha - still so much to learn! Is that how far down into the birth canal they are? Sis is probably -5...

@Mrs.Someone: I'll send you extra labor-y thoughts this weekend!!

@BakerBee: With #1 I wanted sooo badly to give birth on a Friday afternoon for that exact reason. And, of course she was born 2:34 am Monday morning
Although, for Sis I'd looove to go to the hospital on Monday after dropping L off at daycare, and give birth before she needs to be picked up. Minimal interruption to her schedule! I'm going to be sending DH home at nights so L gets to sleep in her bed every night (unless I'm laboring overnight, obv, then she gets a sleepover at Grandma's)

@BakerBee: I'd love to be next! haha I'm just done with being pregnant.

My DH is a teacher and has to go back monday and I was really hoping she would come this week so he could be at home longer to help me. Guess it's looking like that's not going to happen tho. I guess at this point I'd like her to hang out until after Tuesday so my DH can work the 2 professional development days and get extra money. Then his principal is begging him to come to the first day of school if I have the baby before then. Watch she'll come on the Sunday before or that monday. haha

I have my 39 week appt this morning. I really hope I don't make it to my 40 week appt next week.

@BakerBee: No worries, I don't expect anyone to remember these silly details No plans for our anniversary other than going out to dinner. We're kindof afraid to make any plans that aren't easily cancelled.

    @swurlygurl: Thanks!

    pomegranate / 3895 posts

@Mrs.Someone: Don't you know that if you want baby to come on a certain day you should book something very expensive (that you had to pre-pay) that is noncancellable and nonrefundable?

@mrskc: Good luck at your appointment - there was a part of me at my appointment that hoped they would test my urine and tell me my water had secretly broken. I don't even think that's possible? Are you going to let them do an internal check this time?

@swurlygurl: Hopefully you'll get your Monday again this time!

@BakerBee: Hah, yea I know, but we're too practical for that!

  10. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

@BakerBee: I think you would know if your water broke! You would probably feel a trickling. lol No internal check again for me this time. I'm already anxious enough. Maybe next week when I'm almost 40 weeks.

@Mrs.Someone: Awe Happy Anniversary tomorrow! My DS came two days before our anniversary so we spent it coming home from the hospital and having our first night at home.

I would kind of love her to come tomorrow (8/8). 8 is lucky in Chinese culture so 2 8's would be great.

  14. mrskc

@locavore_mama: Yeah, so I decided to get an internal check since I was too curious. only 1 cm and firm cervix. ugh, so disappointed. I was 2 cm and 50% effaced at m 38 week appt with DS and I then had him 3 days later. And I know the numbers don't mean anything, but it still bummed me out which is why I didn't want the checks in the first place. Should have listened to myself. lol

How's everyone doing? I'm guessing there may be several babies being born this weekend with all those close due dates

As for me, James is 1 week old today. So far the transition home has gone well. He's eating great and has already passed his birth weight. His jaundice is clearing up as well. Dr gave me the go ahead to let him sleep up to 4 hrs between feedings which he did twice in a row last night. Glorious!

I'm recovering well too. I gained 38 lbs total. Was down 10 the day we got home and am now down 17. And even though it's only been a week, I think the bellefit is totally worth it. If I get up the courage I'll post some pics, but basically I went from looking 5 months pregnant on Monday to just a chunkier version of myself today!

@JennyPenny: So glad to hear things are going so well for you and your baby!!! I'm glad you are getting some longer stretches of sleep...sleep deprivation is no joke! Congrats on your weight loss already too!

I was due on Tuesday and I'm hoping baby comes VERY soon! I may need to try the bellefit or something like it this time around!

  21. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

@JennyPenny: good to hear that things are going well!!! Never heard of the bellefit. will look into it.

@Mrs. M: oh my gosh, I didn't realize your due date was the 4th! (just looked at the due date list again) I hope you have your baby soon! How far along were you when you had your first? This is making me nervous that I'm going to go past my due date. My OB said most second time moms don't go past their due date.

Also, it's a full moon so maybe some more babies will be arriving soon!!!!

  22. Mrs. M

    kiwi / 645 posts

@mrskc: Thank you...I hope he comes soon too! My daughter was born on her due date, so I figured I would've had him a week or two ago (as I also heard second time moms deliver earlier). I can handle waiting, but I've literally had morning sickness every day and the physical discomfort of this pregnancy is driving me nuts. Hoping you don't go past your due date!!!

I'm still holding out hope for this full moon to help me out (and other August moms who are ready to go)!

  23. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

@Mrs. M: I feel so silly whining about still being pregnant at 39 weeks when you're almost a week overdue still dealing with morning sickness! I hope you go into labor soon! I keep reminding myself she can't stay in there forever!

  24. Mrs. M

    kiwi / 645 posts

@mrskc: Oh, don't feel silly! I've been anxious for a couple weeks now myself! You are definitely right...these babies can't hold out forever (although it sure feels that way sometimes)!

  25. swurlygurl

Aaahhh - 11 more days! How did this fly by so fast?! Haha
We have our hospital tour/registration today... finally... I wasn't procrastinating at all

Sometimes I can't tell if I'm feeling cramps/small contractions, or if baby is just moving weirdly. I've been spending a lot of time just sitting still and trying to 'feel' the baby. So ready to see her already!!

    How's every that's left feeling?

@JennyPenny: I'm so glad it's going well, AND that he's passed his birth weight - that's awesome!! I had to set my alarm to wake up L every 3 hours to eat for the first month - that was actual torture

@Mrs. M: Oh man, you must be dying. That's too much over-due time! Have you and your Dr discussed induction yet? Hopefully it doesn't come to that

@mrskc: I really hope Sis comes earlier than L did - I'm tired of all this labor-spotting. Starting to get burnt out at work too - it's been TOO busy and I'm getting too tired to care My daycare provider had each subsequent kid (she has 3) later than the previous one - ugh!

@swurlygurl: I felt terrible all last week and thought maybe I would go early and then I took it really easy this weekend and feel great today. I have been sitting around a lot trying to figure out what is going on in there, but I really think baby girl is comfy cozy and not going anywhere for awhile (I was 2 weeks late for my mom). I told work my last day (before leave, I will be going back) would be the 22nd regardless as I am just having a hard time focusing on work as it is - I will just be totally over working by that point.

@locavore_mama: That was me all last week: everything hurt and I felt super uncomfortable. Now after a quiet weekend I feel great. This is my first baby so it is all totally confusing to me, Lol.

    @swurlygurl, @locavore_mama, @beckysue: I feel your pain!!
I'm 37 weeks, but have my c section to deliver the twins scheduled for this Friday. I"ve been having mild contractions on and off for weeks now.. but nothing regular enough to trigger a call to the dr and a trip to the hospital.
At my last growth appt 2 weeks ago, they were 6lbs 6oz and 6lbs 7oz... So that's over 13 lbs of babies in there!!
This is SOOO not comfortable. I'm officially whining over here too!

Yesterday, I had this strange pain in my mid to upper back.. it felt like I had pulled a muscle. Anyone have that before? It hurt to walk, sit, even lay down so I was in pain all day. I stayed home and watched The Good Wife all day.. and so of course I feel ok today.
DH wanted me to call the dr and see if they could move up my c section date.. But they told me to just hang tight and wait for Friday. Ugh!

@msmug: Wow, that is a lot of baby you are carrying around! You make me feel like a total wimp since I am only carrying one and she is only about 7.5 lbs right now. You are doing great!! I hope the time to your c-section passes quickly for you!!

@swurlygurl: At my last appointment my OB told me Saturday would be induction day if necessary (I would be 41+5). I'm really hoping he comes on his own before then...like maybe in the next few hours . All day long I just wish for my water to break!

  34. mrskc

@swurlygurl: haha I feel you on the don't know whether it's contractions or baby moving. I'm hyper aware of everything going on in my body right now. It's driving me crazy! I'm sooo over being pregnant right now.

@msmug: oh wow! I can't even imagine carrying twins right now. I complain enough just carrying one.

DH & I decided last night we'll be keeping LO1 home with me 3 days a week starting first week of September. That's when she's switching rooms so she'll be going 2 days a week until either my mom leaves or I go back to work FT.

I think it'll be nice for her to have more time with my mom, get to "bond" with baby sister. And of course saving on daycare will be huge with the uncertainty of my job.
