R will be 5 months old this week. He is still swaddled and still in the rock n play. He has significant reflux (the spit up kind) so sleeping at an incline has always been good for him. But our GI doc said it's fine for him to lay flat. Plus he can roll (back to belly always rolls, belly to back rarely).

A typical night is sleep 7:30/8 - 1:30/2 (eat) up again at 5 (eat) up for day at 6:30. Bed time routine is jammies, white noise, swaddle, bottle or nurse, bed. Nap time is white noise, swaddle, paci, rocking, bed. Substantial rocking. Naps usually suck, though lately he has been starting to take a first nap of more than one hour.

A few weeks ago tried putting him in crib swaddled at night. He slept 3 hour then couldn't stay asleep. Last week tried the zipadee zip at night and he never fell asleep (didn't really let him cry though...) Last night just used a sleep sack and he fell asleep easily for the night but woke 2.5 hours later - I soothed him and gave him paci but he woke a few minutes later. I soothed him again and he sucked his thumb but woke a few minutes later. I rocked him but after he was in the crib woke a few minutes later. Finally at 11:30 I put him in his swaddle and R&P and he still had night wakings at the usual times to eat.

Do I:

1. Swaddle him in the crib to get him used to the crib, then ditch the swaddle. When he wakes, soothe but let him cry.

2. Just put him in the crib in a sleep sack. When he wakes, soothe but let him cry.

3. Something else.

Also, what do I do for naps? Just let him cry? Thanks! I feel like I have made more sleep mistakes with R than I ever did with T....it's just easier to use sleep crutches when you are chasing a toddler all day

Note: His room adjoins big brother's via door. They both sleep with loud white noise but you can definitely hear R crying from big brother's room....
