My IUD was fully covered (I refuse to say free since I pay for my insurance and my insurance paid for it). I can’t remember exactly but I think I just paid a regular office visit copay for each visit (insertion, checking that it was right a few weeks later)? Definitely not MORE than my copay.

Mine was fully covered, just had to pay office visits. But that was on our old ppo plan. we recently moved to a high deductible plan - not sure what it would cost now.

I got an IUD after each of my kids were born and I just paid an office visit copay ($20) each time; it was fully covered otherwise. I have an HMO plan with no deductible so ymmv. My member services booklet from my health insurance plan lists it so you may want to search yours for intrauterine device and see if you can find it there.

Mine was free all around. Unless you have an unusual plan I believe it should be fully covered under contraception. Maybe whatever your plan charges for an office visit, if anything.

Not exactly the same, but my nexplanon was placed at no cost at my 6 week pp appointment. If I would have done it at any other appointment outside of pp or my annual it would have been my $20 copay.

The website sounds misleading. The IUD itself should be covered at no cost under the ACA. That doesn't apply to office visits. Even if you haven't reached your deductible on your plan yet this year, the device should still be covered at 100% (there are some rare circumstances when it wouldn't be, but if i remember correctly you are a teacher, not someone who works for a religious organization).
