What is your favorite type of cake to go with cream cheese frosting?
My friend eloped last week and her aunt is throwing her a surprise dinner party this weekend. I signed up to bring "any kind of cupcakes with cream cheese frosting" but I want to try to make something besides red velvet.
Have you tried any new flavors for cakes or cupcakes? Would pineapple cupcakes go well with cream cheese? Or is chocolate a safer bet for a kid friendly party?

I second @lawbee11 and I also agree that pineapple upside down cake would go well. Also any kind of "spice" cake (gingerbread, banana bread) would be good as well.

I love lemon or strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting if you want something different. So yummy.

With cream cheese carrot is my favorite. Another is lemon cake and a bit of lemon juice or zest added to the frosting.
Other good ones are banana and chocolate. But you could even do a vanilla with strawberries and the cream cheese frosting would almost give you like a cheesecake type flavor.

Carrot sounds good but hand grating does not....I can grate in a food processor, right?
