@FaithFertility: With Xander, and now Logan, once I knew they could sleep X hours without eating, I would always offer the pacifier if they woke before the normal time. So far with Logan, that always works. The only time I've fed him in the MOTN since he started sleeping 9:00 - 5:00 has been when he went through his growth spurt and he woke up screaming. Sometimes he'll wake up earlier than normal (4:30 instead of 5:00/5:30) and I'll just feed him because I'm getting up then anyway. But if he wakes up at like 3:00, nope - no food for you! Unless I'm trying to get him back to sleep for 45 minutes and it's not working (or he's obviously hungry).

@faithfertility: e's cries are pretty different depending on what she needs. Or, rather, when she has just been waking up randomly in the night, she just kinda grizzles and grunts and squirms. That's when I decided to try the pacifier. When she is hungry, it's definitely an angrier FEED MY BELLY cry. That's the one I got when she woke up at 630 today

@FaithFertility: If she is gaining well she can def wean that night feeding!

I should try the pacifier trick. We did 3-2 last night, but up after another hour and just restless, I put him on me and he squirmed for awhile.
With the pacifier though, he can NOT keep it in on his own, so I'd have to wake-up to hold it for him and hope he falls back asleep quickly!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: yeah that's the only thing... most of the time k is good about keeping it in her mouth, or it comes out and she's already asleep. but when she's TRYING to sleep and it keeps coming in & out and it's so annoying!

Has anyone mispronounced your lo's name yet? I thought I had picked a name that was easy to pronounce but someone called him "mick-eye" yesterday... I'm like "it's Micah"
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: Hahaha oh no! I didn't think Micah is hard to pronounce (or so rare a name that people don't know how...)
nectarine / 2053 posts
@snowjewelz: i know, right? People are crazy!
on the subject of names, I just talked with someone who named their daughter elizabeth but it's spelled alyzabeth.... yikes.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@whenoceansrise: Were they foreign? I feel like Micah is pretty obvious with its pronunciation... No one has mispronounced Logan yet...
nectarine / 2053 posts
@Adira: Nope, definitely not. It's so weird! & I hope nobody mispronounces Logan!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@whenoceansrise: Well if people can mispronounce Micah, then I'm sure they can mispronounce Logan!
BabyCenter says my baby should be able to reach out and grab things and have some semblance of coordination... is Logan delayed or are some of your LOs not really doing much of this yet??
pomelo / 5298 posts
@Adira: K only likes to grab soft things (my hair, shirt, burp cloth, blankets, her own clothes). She's not too much into grabbing other things except an o ball. Our ped just said this week that I shouldn't expect her to hold things, but to at least be reaching toward objects.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: Logan does hold my shirt or his blanket, but I don't think I've seen him reach towards things... how old is K? Logan is 16 weeks.
nectarine / 2210 posts
@Adira: K will grab burp clothes or other fabrics and bring them to her mouth. She actually grabbed her onesie the other day and then got upset when it wouldn't stretch all the way to her mouth!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: I wouldn't worry about it! K does grab stuff.. She is violent lol. When she is on her play mat she grabs and pulls the rings like crazy. On the other hand, I haven't gotten her to laugh again! I feel like they're still all over the place with everything! And some days she'll roll like crazy and the next she wouldn't do it at all!
pear / 1961 posts
@adira: e is 16w too. She reaches for stuff when it hangs above her and sometimes if I hold something out. But I wouldn't necessarily call it coordinated yet! She also forgets to hold on to things and gets mad when it falls. Babies!
Who needs Merlins sleepsuit when you have a bunting?! E fell asleep in the ergo while walking the dog, and I just left the bunting on and put her to bed. She's been asleep for awhile now...definitely longest without swaddling!

@Adira: Matthew grabs his clothes, my hair, his bunny lovey & the toy bar on his bouncer. Sometimes he'll even grab our shirt if we're holding him & he falls asleep.
@whenoceansrise: I would hope no one mispronounces Matthew, but some people are silly. I would think Micah would be easy to pronounce.

@whenoceansrise: no mispronunciations, but when Ethan was baptized the Deacon called him Ethan Allen a couple times. He must be a frequent shopper.
@Adira: Ethan is 16 weeks too, he grabs things now but I wouldn't call it coordinated. Honestly I think it's on accident most of the time.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@whenoceansrise: Yeah I get it a lot kind of expected it with the way we chose to spell her name
eggplant / 11861 posts
@josina: bahahahh that is too funny, is his middle name Allen?
@snowjewelz: hmmmm....maybe we will work on that
@Adira: G grabs stuff like crazy, but has no interest in tummy time, it is like a Navy seal mission / three ring circus we put on to entertain her to do it....lol
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: Poor K It's hard to think of them not being happy. Honestly, neither of my kids have ever been content to just hang out by themselves. J will lie down if someone is entertaining him, but otherwise he wants to be held. M was the same way. It's kind of hard for me to believe that not all babies are that way!
@KayKay: That would be great if she could drop some feedings!
honeydew / 7283 posts
It's hard to know when to feed them if they wake overnight. I know that J can STTN but he's been waking up MOTN more since we moved him to his crib. We've started letting him make noise for a few minutes before going to him and usually he can put himself back to sleep pretty quickly. I'm always worried that maybe he's going through a growth spurt or that maybe he didn't eat enough before bed.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@Adira: J reaches in the general direction of things, but doesn't always make contact. He'll definitely grab my hair and give it a good yank though. Ouch!

@Adira: Ryan doesn't reach for toys yet either. He will hold them and try to eat them if I place them in his hand but that's bout it! His movements are still robotic and he hates tummy time and doesn't roll He's 14 weeks.
@FaithFertility: I use the ergo for extended baby wearing (i.e., if out and about). Ktan sometimes for around the house. Soon will use the Bjorn for outings too if I don't want him to sleep (outward facing).
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
I always feed Ryan MOTN. He just started going 6-7 hours a few weeks ago so I just wouldn't feel comfortable with not feeding him overnight. He usually does 6 hours and then another 3.5. I never use the paci overnight b/c I don't want him to be dependent on it, either!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@KayKay: haha yes Ryn can barely move in his bunting
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@FaithFertility: Nope! Ethan Michael.
I think Ethan doesn't like to be alone... last night I had him on the playmat in the living room while I started dinner and he whined because he couldn't see anyone (couch in the way). I moved him and the mat to the kitchen floor and he was fine for a half hour that way. Same the other night when he was in the R&P in our room, he was fine as soon as he saw us, but if the door was closed he cried. Hmmm.

@josina: kara likes to watch what we are doing too!
I'm hopeless! Got home early today due to the snow... And I'm holding her for her nAp bc I missed her so much even tho I have a billion things to do!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: Yeah I'm going to continue to feed her if she wakes and doesn't go back down on her own like she usually does

Being a mom today wiped me out......G wasn't any different, but Man, I just feel like I need a break, wine tonight...lol

@FaithFertility: Some days are just longer than others. I hope the weekend helps!

Just got back from a much needed date night with DH. My parents came and did dinner, baths and bed so we could go out to dinner. Nothing too fancy but so nice to have a conversation without crying and crayons and "why? why? why?". Love being able to reconnect
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: yay! i agree, it's so needed!
So i had extra pumped milk from the week so K took a bottle before bed. Down at 7, woke once at 9 but I gave her the paci and she was out! I'm wondering if she doesn't drink enough from my breasts bc she gets too distracted?? I don't bump enough during the day for her to have the bottle at bed time already tho...
