@Adira: Awww, I was going to say, same here with sickness and daycare, as soon as he gets over 1 cold he gets another!
Poor guy, sorry he's so sick! Enjoy the extra cuddles today!

@winniebee: That's good to hear that dropping the nap hasn't been too bad for you guys. I'm sure it gives you some more flexibility!

@snowjewelz: Ugh - that's horrible to be up for an hour in the MOTN.
@Adira: No! Poor baby (and mom)

G is getting a rash under her neck....
I think it is from her being so messy with the sippy and me wiping it all the time
What do you girls use or have used for this? Aquaphor???
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@Adira: Oh no!! Poor boy
Sorry for everyone getting crummy naps or sleep!! The past two nights, H's sleep has been bad. Bah. Hoping he is just teething or something (sooooo droopy the last two days), and he gets back on track soon!

@theotherstark: awwww sorry I think teeth are playing a big part in a lot of things
She does a lot of chewing/ear pulling
Hope H feels better

@Adira: oh no poor kid. Cold and flu season is almost over right?!
@FaithFertility: just aquaphor! It could be from drool too.

So had our 6 month appointment today. She did great! :). She is a peanut though, 10% weight, 50% height and 25% head. Doctor wasn't worried about her weight, since she is so healthy. We are adding a 2nd meal of solids though. She showed off at appt: crawled, sat unassisted, grabbed for a toy and came back to sitting, and for her finale pulled up multiple times. Doctor was shocked at her motor skills and said she expected her to be walking next time she saw her. My little show off! :). I posted this on IG but I love so much I'll share again.

@BandDmommy: she's adorable! Ryan can't do any of those things I'm pretty impressed! He can only tripod sit and roll
So apparently 3h nap the other day meant Ryan was getting a cold. It doesn't seem awful yet....

@BandDmommy: great job D! She's leaving my chunky monkey in the dust Beautiful photo

@josina: @MrsF: @FaithFertility: @theotherstark: @winniebee: Thanks ladies! After I picked him up, he just passed out in the car and then seemed fine for the rest of the day, apart from his normal cold symptoms that he's had. Not sure why the daycare was having issues with him. And I got conflicting reports from them on whether he had a fever or not, but he didn't when I tested him, so who knows! Hopefully he'll be okay today though because I have a meeting all afternoon that I don't want to miss.
@FaithFertility: Logan has a rash on his face and neck from constant drool. It's normal. Aquaphor is a good choice. I use that, though you'll be combating this for a while!
@BandDmommy: Wow, awesome appointment!! She's doing so great! Logan's not nearly so mobile! But you'll have your hands full, haha. And she's a beauty!
@winniebee: Sorry Ryan's getting sick too.

@winniebee: ohhh I'm sure her drool is insane total bull dog status...lol
Aquaphor is definitely helping

@BandDmommy: Go D! I will add that Mighty is a perfect word for this cutie pie!

@banddmommy: what a little ham! we've been pretty consistently doing solids at breakfast and dinner times lately (730a and 5p) for e, and she's been chowing down. i'm sure D will be all about it!
@adira: @winniebee: sorry your little dudes are sick again. hopefully all the fresh air with the warmer weather will help this one get out of their systems quickly!
apparently E is actually getting a fair amount of the solids she is eating lately because she has been a pooping machine! for a kid who normally has been a once-a-weeker, this is quite the change...although not unexpected. on the plus side, i think i'm going to make it through the rest of the Size 2 diapers i have for her
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@BandDmommy: Wow, she's pretty amazing with all that she can do already!
@Adira: Glad that Logan was okay! Hopefully today goes well!
@KayKay: Our diapers are definitely changing! Not so runny and explosive, more solid and stinky! Good for less blowouts.
I'm taking Ethan in to the dr. this afternoon for his cold, we're going on 3 weeks of this and he's pretty raspy yet so figured I'd get him checked - and I can get 6 month stats! Also going to ask about him not taking bottles although I don't think its related. **We won't get to see his regular pediatrician till his "6 month" appt. in 3 weeks.
So daycare gave him ice cream yesterday. Not sure I like that, isn't it a bit early or no? She said he screamed at her when she wouldn't give him anymore, lol, so he loved it, but did spit it up on the way home, might use that as an excuse for her to not give him anymore quite yet. She's got two other babies the same age so I hate to be the paranoid mom. (selfishly I wanted to be the first to give him ice cream!)
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: WTF??? I would be PISSED if my daycare gave Logan ice cream!!! For one, babies do NOT need that kind of sugar at this age. And for two, milk is a HUGE allergen!!! How do they know he's not allergic??? (Though maybe he's on a milk based formula? I forget which babies are eating what)
eggplant / 11861 posts
@josina: stinky I'd be pissed though! I'm kinda OCD when it comes to G I would be mad if they gave her anything that I haven't said ok to or they didn't ask!
I also feel you on wanting to give him ice cream first
eggplant / 11861 posts
@KayKay: awww glad those solids are worki g well in her system
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@Adira: Nope, he's bf so hasn't had milk or any dairy yet. I was surprised when she told me like no big deal!
I'll ask the ped. today and see what he says also so I have something to back me up when I tell her not again.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: You do NOT need to have anything to "back you up" when you tell them not to do it again. All you need is your right as the parent! Is this a daycare center or a home provider? If it's a center, I might even mention it to the director and ask for their policy regarding giving food to infants (I've done this before and caused all the infant room teachers to be "re-trained on the policy" because of my complaints). If it's a home provider, it may not be as easy, but just say that you don't feel comfortable with her giving E anything you haven't already okayed and that you'd prefer her to stick with only foods YOU tell her she can give him for now. You are his mom and you have every right to tell a care-giver what they can and cannot feed your child!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: This whole situation is getting me so riled up for you! The very FIRST time that my son (Xander) had dairy (infant yogurt at 8 months), we had to rush him to the ER for anaphylaxis! His reaction was immediate and SEVERE! I can't even imagine what would have happened if this had happened at a daycare instead of at home with us. It honestly makes me sick to my stomach to even think about it. I'm so so so so so grateful that E is okay!
pear / 1961 posts
@josina: i'm with @adira: on this one! especially since they know he is just starting solids, they should only be giving him things that you bring or have okayed...whether it's in-home or a center. i'm pretty lax on most of the rules for solids, and we don't have allergies that run on either side of our family....but still...
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@KayKay: We didn't have any food allergies in any of our families until Xander, so it can happen to anyone!!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: @Adira: sorry the boys are feeling not well. K has a pretty good cough and some congestion/sneezing but she seems to be plowing through it relatively happy.
@FaithFertility: K has a rash too. Her's isn't on her chin though. It's the side of her face and forehead. I think it's from sleeping in her drool! She actually is less drooly than her older sister was. I wish this darn tooth would come through already!
@KayKay: @BandDMommy: Solids! We are doing them once per day right now, I probably need to give daycare the greenlight to start there and send her food. She's now eating two containers at dinner time (a large one and a small one). We haven't introduced any real "chunks" yet, just purees and oatmeal. She's not the greatest with the spoon/tongue but she gets angry if you aren't shoveling it in. D will do fine, I'm certain.
And in local news, it's still raining! We've had 3+ inches just since midnight. I think our overnight total was probably closer to 5". And we officially have the wettest May in Texas history with a few more days and forecasted storms on the horizon. Lots of flooded out roads this morning!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@Adira: He's at an in-home daycare. Im so non-confrontational, I'll have to suck it up on this one. Wish I didn't have to deal with it!
@KayKay: Luckily no allergies either so he should be fine, but still. I've been telling her what he has been eating so she's knows and have sent cereal and applesauce with him.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@josina: I feed our older plenty of junk but I'm pretty junk free for an infant. I didn't give C any sort of sweets (cake, ice cream, chocolate, etc) until she was 1. Carbs are another story, she had more than her share of cheerios and puffs. I'd have a hard time with someone other than me or DH making the decision to feed ice cream. My DH is considerably more lax than me. He fed her the ribeye bone over the weekend! And guacamole the other night.
At our center, infant is provided by the parents. I don't think they get center food until they are 1.

Oh, and ladies. I threw a post up on the December Due Date Board for 6 month stats. Feel free to add yours as you have your appointments.

@BandDmommy: wow, Go D! She is such a doll!
@josina: Agree with everyone else, I'd be sooooo mad! I'd just politely ask the daycare provider not to give him anything unless they okay it by you first or to only give him things that you bring.
nectarine / 2053 posts
you guys.... since we plan on starting to sleep train tonight- I cried last night as I was snuggling with M in bed. He's growing up way too fast!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@josina: I'm pretty laid back in the food dept but like others have said I'd be pissed for the reasons mentioned by others....and also, he's having some problems taking his bottles lately. Food before 1 is just for fun so I'd probably shy away from increasing solids until he is back on track with drinking his bottles. Now that you mention his cold though I wonder if that's why he's eating less. Sorry about that : (
Ryan loves solids. Loves them! He can eat a whole jar of puree and....his diapers are pretty crazy. I usually do one meal of puree and the other BLW / just let him play with real food. Usually once during the day if I need to distract him I'll give him some fruit in the mesh feeder.
I shouldn't have said anything about naps improving. YIKES today is rough!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@whenoceansrise: Awww. They are growing so fast! It's crazy!
@winniebee: I'm going to ask the ped. today about his bottle issue. I'm not sure if its related or not since he nurses fine.
I started sending cereal to daycare a week after his bottle issue just because I didn't want him going 9 hours on so little!
We do cereal during the day, and some solids at night, he'll do a half a banana, 2 mesh feeders of watermelon, or about 2 Tbsp's of peas. The mesh feeder is def. his fav.

@BandDmommy: D is sooo adorable and she is doing so great! And being small just makes her even cuter

Sorry for all the sick babies again
And sleep front is still the same over here for night & naps. Not great, not the worst... Since we took sleep training off the table, it will probably just be this way unless she decides otherwise
