My husband thinks something is wrong with G beacause her drool is out of control..bahahaha
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: K can go really long in the morning too. For example, on Sunday I nursed her at 6:30, then she didn't eat again till after 11am so that's def almost 5 hrs and she was pretty okay the whole time!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: Here too. I just ordered more bibs b/c we're going through so many a day! Even when she is doing NOTHING drool comes out both sides!

@snowjewelz: that diaper setup sounds crazy! The regular diaper will end up HUGE.

So we just had our 6 month check up. 21.7 lbs (98%) & 26 in long (36%). The ped (not the one we usually see) said he should be sleeping in his own room, which we really can't do as our 2nd bedroom is DH's office since he works from home. He screamed for a few minutes because of his shots, but is good otherwise.

@AngelicOne: big boy!! Weird they said he should have his own room! I feel like most docs encourage rooming in!
@FaithFertility: super cute! Look at those thighs!!
Sleep at night here is so variable. One night it's one waking the next it is 3. He pretty much always wants to wake up early though! We have been getting at least one nap of more than an hour lately but I've been letting him cry some. And letting him stay up quite a bit longer than before - like 2 or 2.5 hours. Today was 3 naps (45 mins, 1.5, 30) but he had actually slept in til 730 and we still put him to bed at 8.

@josina: kellymom has some good info on reverse cycling which it sounds like he is doing. I hope he figures it out soon!!

@AngelicOne: Growing babe!!!! I second @winniebee: I think my Pedi is a ok on rooming in too, he kind of gave me kudos for still having her in our room because he said his kids were so loud at night he shipped them off to there rooms at 1 month..lol
I wouldn't worry to much about it!
G is still with us

@AngelicOne: Did the doctor have a reason for the advice on having baby in a separate room? I know at our appt, I got a strong opinion on sleep training. We didn't see our normal pediatrician who has never suggested this. While I agree, that I needed to sleep train, I need to get there on my own. And for us sleep training including her own room, but we have the space for that.

Wow, there are some big babies in this group. I think D is the smallest by a LOT. I guess being less than 6 lbs at birth has something to do with that.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@BandDmommy: We cover the spectrum in this group. I think we have a few on the small side - @winniebee: and @snowjewelz: have some bitty ones too.
K never stood a chance. While she was "average" at birth like her sister, they put on some weight quick. And at nearly 4 C is considerably taller than her peers. They get it from their Dad!

@FaithFertility: @MamaG: Since the ped wasn't the one we normally see, we're thinking about not following that advice. She said they require more attention when they sleep in the same room (I guess more comforting & such since they know you're nearby). Also that he could probably sleep through the night if he had his own room, started solids (tried squash tonight...not a fan yet!), and ate like 6oz bottles at a time (drinks 1oz - 4oz usually depending on his mood). Said that it would be so much harder to get him to sleep in his own room later on if we kept letting him sleep in the PnP in our room (even if we delayed it for a month or two). We apparently need to get him nap trained as well.
This week he has been putting himself to sleep in the PnP & only waking to eat twice a night, so I thought he was doing pretty good. I'm hesitant to do much because we leave for an 11 day trip in one week so that's going to mess up everything.
Sorry for the novel!

@AngelicOne: That's a lot! Sounds like a doctor with a lot of opinions. I agree that all of the changes are hard, but I also firmly believe that parents have to be ready to make the changes to really be able to be consistent. So if you feel like your situation is working, so be it. We all have different tolerances for things like sleep deprivation Clearly your kiddo is growing well.

@BandDmommy: K is on the small side too. She isn't 6 months for another 2 weeks, but at her 4 month visit she was only 10 lbs 14 ozs, 5th%ile.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@AngelicOne: I Definetly don't think moving him to his own room is the magic answer to sleeping through the night, while our sleep did get better I'm still up at least 2x per night. Do it when you are ready. And I thought bf babies didn't need to up the oz in their bottles either since its about fat content?
I wish I had stats to share on E but his 6 mo. Appt isn't for another 3 weeks! Boo.
@winniebee: Thanks, I'll check that out. Good news is E took 2 bottles today at daycare plus cereal and a banana (he got jealous watching the other baby, lol), so maybe we are on the way out of this phase.

@Miss Ariel: @BandDmommy: Ryan's a peanut as well. He was 13.5 lbs at 5 months so I'm guessing probably only 14 or so at 6 months. He was 5 lb 6 oz at birth though. Tiny!

@KayKay: ugh that was out weather in NM last year! May was gross! Then June and July craaaazy storms in the afternoon and HOT otherwise. Good luck solo parenting! Wine and bad tv help

@AngelicOne: I wonder why that ped thinks your LO should be in their own room. I've heard that sleeping in the same room can help reduce the risk of SIDS. I say keep doing it if it's working for you!
pear / 1961 posts
@angelicone: ditto what others have said about doing whatever works for you guys re: sleep. i'm pretty sure unless your baby (or you!) is not sleeping you're doing fine!
@winnibee: everyone says the weather changes for GoPro games, which start June 4. I cannot wait. I'm so over all of our inside choices (storytime, open gymnastics) that we mostly just stay home and play, and i'm getting sick of it. bring on the splashpads! also, i'm sick of wearing (and dressing the girls in) all of our fall/winter clothes. seriously need some warm weather in my life.
@josina: that eating sounds a lot better! maybe the solids will get him!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: @MamaG: Yeah K is at best avg! She was 6 lbs 4 oz at birth and I'm estimating her to be 16 lbs and change now and probably 25.5-26". I def do not mind her being on the smaller size so it's easier to hold
@AngelicOne: We only see this one doctor at our practice b/c he is the most supportive! I've had others push formula, sleep training, etc... Whatever works for your family IS the best! And esp if you're going on a trip where everything will change anyway, might as well wait till after to figure out what exactly you want to do next!

@AngelicOne: I wonder if J is a big as your guy! My DD was so tiny and J is definitely the opposite We have our six month checkup on Monday.

Jealous of your 6 Month apointments....lol
I love checking up on G's growth
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: I measure and weigh her at home too haha, almost 6 months later I still worry all the time whether she's growing or not lol!

thinking it may be time to start sleep training.. sleep has not been good lately. it's weird though because it just seems like micah can't get comfortable. i'm thinking maybe sleeping in his crib will help?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@whenoceansrise: What's he currently sleeping in? Logan was sleeping in the PNP and I felt like he couldn't get comfortable, so we moved him to the crib, and I definitely feel like it helped, but it hasn't been game-changing or anything.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@whenoceansrise: haha, you'd think that would be pretty comfy then, unless he's getting too hot or something! Logan always seemed to sleep better in our bed than he was in the PNP, so that's why we figured he'd like his crib.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@whenoceansrise: awww yeah they move around a lot I think I hear G and she is so loud at night, slamming legs down, rolling I think it keeps me up sometimes....lol
pomelo / 5298 posts
@whenoceansrise: It can't hurt to try the crib out. Is he sleeping on his back or stomach? C is a much better sleeper now that she sleeps on her stomach.
The only downside is diaper leaks and a rashy face because she's drooling so much and sleeping in it
persimmon / 1050 posts
@josina: Boo that E's appt isn't for 3 weeks. That'll be a 7 month appt then lol.
@snowjewelz: We only saw this ped because his usual one was on call at the hospital that day. He will be seeing her for his 9 month appt though.
@MrsF: Can't wait to hear about J's appt on Monday!
Thanks everyone for confirming what I was already thinking. If it's not broke, don't fix it!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@Adira: right? maybe he's the kind of baby that needs his own space... but he's done fine up until now!
@FaithFertility: yeah he moves so much that it wakes him up and i have to give him the boob to get him back to sleep.. but it's all night long!
@MamaG: he sleeps on his back. i'm too nervous to let him sleep on his tummy
pomelo / 5298 posts
@whenoceansrise: Can he roll both ways on his own? Do you think his movement is him trying to roll over? K will occasionally sleep on her back for a short period of time and it catches me off guard. She's been a tummy sleeper at daycare for all naps since she was able to roll. We didn't really allow it at home until she was in her crib. She was in the RnP and couldn't get to her tummy.
nectarine / 2053 posts
@MamaG: he has rolled from tummy to back for awhile now but has just started rolling from back to tummy sothat definitely could be it! if he's wanting to sleep on his tummy, we'll have to move him to his crib because our bed has too many blankets/sheets.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@whenoceansrise: he might want more movement! Ryan was getting pretty uncomfortable in the rock n play (differ t than bed I know) and is doing much better in the crib overall. Naps especially. Just lay him on his back and he will figure out what position works best for him!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@whenoceansrise: Maybe give it a try in the crib? It might be a difficult transition, but it's worth a try!
@winniebee: Glad to hear that Ryan is doing so well in the crib! I know that was a tough move for you guys.
