@whenoceansrise: Aquaphor Baby Gentle Wash & Shampoo. It's what we started using because Xander has eczema. Our pediatrician recommended it because it's so gentle on the skin.
@winniebee: The carseat probably would work, but I didn't want to leave the house because I needed a shower! And I couldn't shower until Logan went down for a nap, which he finally did. Sorry your kids aren't sleeping either!

@winniebee: @Adira: sorry about the nap troubles
I'm tired today because J was up more than usual to eat, but he actually went to sleep without hours of soothing! Right now I'd rather see that. I can handle a hungry baby, but an overtired baby who I can't get to sleep makes me insane! (I may have had a minor temper tantrum on Saturday night when he was up 'til 1am. Not my finest moment).
We haven't been doing as well in the nap department, but we've had him out of the swing for four days, so I'm calling it a success.

@Adira: showers are heaven.. Sadly B insisted on showering with me this morning.. Not relaxing when he's driving cars up and down my legs

@BandDmommy: that's how I have most of my showers too!

@Adira: @winniebee: same thing with kara today. Cranky, fussy, won't sleep... I am soooo tired. And she is draining my boobs. I thought we had the 6 wk spurt!

I think we are the opposite here... Yesterday and today Ethan slept most of the day. He has his 8 week check up today and is in the 70th-80th percentiles for everything. He is 12 lbs 7.5 oz and 23" long. His shots weren't too awful... He screamed/cried for maybe a minute, nursed and then slept for 3 hours while dh and I got some shopping done.
He does have a strawberry hemangioma birthmark on his head, smaller than a pencil eraser now. Any other babies? I had never heard of this till now.
@MrsF: Sorry J is so hard to put back down! I just told dh tonight we are lucky at least that E always goes right back to sleep until the time we get up, around 6:30.

@josina: yeah - all that soothing is time-consuming! I think it's getting a little better though, knock on wood
Glad his appointment went well! We have that one coming up.

Logan had three 30 minute naps today. He's asleep again now... hopefully for 5-6 hours this time.

@Adira: we are with you! But somehow I doubt a 5-6 hr stretch is in my future tonight.

@josina: Matthew seems to be a lot like Ethan. He's been sleeping all day too. His 8 week check up is Monday. Hoping he does okay with his shots. He has red spots on the back of his head, base of his neck & above his butt. Not sure if they're birthmarks or not.
Glad to hear the appt went well.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: What is a strawberry hemangioma? Logan has some sort of birthmark on the back of his neck. It's red and blotchy.
Logan slept almost 6 hours! My boobs are rock hard...
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@Adira: sounds similar to Ethan's... His showed up at around 4 weeks as a red mark, its a little bumpier now. The Dr said they are perfectly normal and most will eventually go away or fade. They may grow for the first year.
@AngelicOne: Hope Mathews appt goes well next week. Ethan was a bit whinier tonight, wrote up crying at 10:30 and I had to let him fall asleep on me, but so far no bad side effects from the shots.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: I'll have to remember to point it out to his pediatrician in a couple weeks!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Logan is making me worried about my supply. He keeps fussing and refusing to nurse after the initial letdown and I don't think he's getting the hindmilk. Nursing him has become so frustrating the last couple days.

@Adira: wow what a nice stretch following a rough day! I still only got 3, 2 and 3. Reaaaally hoping today won't be a repeat of yesterday.

@Adira: hopefully it's just growth spurt period!
K sounds like she has a stuffed nose. We tried nose frida but I think the congestion is very deep. Any tips?
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: G sounds stuffy all the time, I ask pedi and he says it's normal their noses are so small even a little inflation or snot will sound like a train, I tried nose Frieda and nada as well!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Adira: maybe a stork bite? G has one right on back of neck, it is broken blood vessels
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: ah! I just feel so bad hearing her breath and then I wonder if it's adding to her crankiness!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@Adira: Ethan fusses like this also and I basically give him a 'time out' by sitting him up and burping him, when's he's calm I'll nurse again. And for whatever reason it seems to help if I basically smack his butt (same motion as burping) while he's nursing, sounds funny but it seems to work?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: I try that too, but it doesn't always work! Patting the bum while nursing is very calming for him, though it often makes him fall asleep!
Speaking of sleep - today so far has been the opposite of the last two days! Logan's been sleeping all morning, only waking up to eat! Not sure what that means for tonight...
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: I don't think so! Not sure if it's affecting her sleep!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: these babies are crazy! Kara is opposite today in that she is NOT sleeping this morning!

I had my 6 weeks visit today and while K was awake the whole time, she at least didn't scream. I call it a success.
Also my dr didn't mention glucose testing since I had GD, and I completely forgot about it till the drive home... So I guess I don't need to worry about it? Although I may test it a few times on my own to make sure it looks ok.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@Miss Ariel: With my first pregnancy/GD I was tested in the hospital to make sure my levels were okay before they let me return to a normal diet.
This time, I wasn't tested at all in the hospital and allowed a normal diet immediately and had a glucose tolerance test and A1C at my 6 week appt. I felt like I was treated differently because of the repeat GD.
It can't hurt to check it yourself, or request your doctor to do a A1C test. I'm not sure why this isn't the standard instead of a glucose tolerance test anyway.

@Adira: when Ryan acts like that it usually means he has a burp. Ryan seems pretty tired after yesterday too. Though we had no extra sleep last night.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Miss Ariel: I would just ignore it! I was tested every 6 hrs or something at the hospital and again at 6 wk pp
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: Maybe I need to try harder to get a burp out when he's being so fussy.

Dr. Called and gave us a referral to a Pedi PT for G's neck.....ummmm I was under the impression it was no biggie?!?! Apparently it still isn't but can lead to her favoring a side and then flat spots.....etc...well after I cried thinking it is my fault I am ok...he also said don't let her favor her left side, but I feel we have done a good job with that before I knew any of this! I lay her on her back, sides alternating during the day, at play time too, and he said tummy time helps so start.....I said I Have!!!!!!
I know this truly is nothing but with my anxiety I am OCD about her head and neck now......ughhhhh!
Torticollis is what it is called
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: My friend's daughter had torticollis. She favored one side over the other, but once she started walking, it resolved itself. I remember my friend was supposed to do exercises with her to help with it, but she wasn't that strict about doing them and it all worked out. Hopefully the same is true for you!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Adira: He acted like no big deal but can't hurt to get PT, as a new mom of course I just felt bad....we just had a lovely nap together so I feel better
honeydew / 7283 posts
@FaithFertility: sorry that this is causing you stress You definitely haven't done anything wrong and I'm sure she won't have a long term issue. Glad that the dr is being proactive. I hope you feel better after talking to the PT!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: Awww! I'm sorry! I think it's fairly common though. My niece had it and is fine!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Today is a repeat of yesterday. Crappy short naps. 6 weeks is quite the age!!!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: ughhh sorry! We are the opposite I know not what you want to hear, but makes me nervous for tonight!
