@theotherstark: over the past two years I've made friends at a breastfeeding support group at my hospital, at library story time and by joining my town's chapter of the MOMS club. I'm shy by nature and I've really had to force myself to be brave and put myself out there. It's not easy but it's been worth it

@winniebee: glad the swaddle worked for you at least!
Dh and I are so used to Ethan waking up every 2 hours that when he doesn't we wake up anyways to check on him!

@theotherstark: in my city, there is a free 8 week new moms seminar at local health clinics and you just sign up. My group had 8 ladies and we all hit it off and we've been friends for over 2 years now. I also met a lot of moms at the neighbourhood playground! Once the weather got nicer we went there all the time and met a ton of families. I found that meetup groups were a bust, as well as anything moms club that was really big. I met some moms at mommy and me, but it is hit and miss if they are already there with friends. Library storytime is a great place too.

I'm sorry everyone is sick! I'm finally recovering and A seems to be feeling better...but I feel bad when I suck snot out and see a little bit of blood. It is so dry where I live.

@theotherstark: My only mom friends are people I was already friends with who have kids. I'm terrible at meeting new people and making new friends. Good luck to you.
@whenoceansrise: Oh no! I'm sorry! Hopefully you are in growth spurt territory and soon he'll go back to sleeping better.

@whenoceansrise: uhh, I hate the hourly wake ups. I hope it is temporary!

So I think I'm actually starting to feel better. Shortest cold ever!
I've started pumping before bed since Logan now consistently goes 5-6 hours before eating again after his last feed of the day. I was putting the milk in the fridge when I realized that I'm going to be pumping before bed for the next YEAR.

@Adira: I hear you! The thought of pumping for that long is crazy to me! It didn't feel long with B- but maybe bale cause now I know what to expect!
Emily slept for 6.5 hours last night!!! Woah! If this is going to continue I need to start xsetting a motn alarm to keep my supply up!

@whenoceansrise: so rough. I'm sorry! Is he still co sleeping?

The miracle blanket produced same results last night - two 3+ hour stretches, 1.5, then up with spit up and burps for awhile then another hour. which feels like a little miracle.
@Freckles: he doesn't fight it! I stick a paci in his mouth while I wrap him and feed him right after. However he wants out of if early morning when he has a bunch of burps and needs to wriggle around. I haven't re swaddled then but probably should because after Unswaddled his stretches are much shorter.

So, I cut major dairy two weeks ago after lots of gas and burps and spit up and green mucousy poops. Like no cheese, milk, yogurt, ice cream, sour cream etc. However I have small amounts of butter. His poops went back to yellow seedy (coincidence?) and the past few days especially has been much more settled and less burpy. Well, I forgot and last night ordered a pasta dish that had cream in it. He was sooooo burpy and gassy at 5 am and had two huge spit ups already today. I think I'm convinced to go dairy free for the foreseeable future. It half breaks my heart to give up pizza, but is fairly easy when we eat at home just hard when you go to others for dinner or go out to eat.

@cheert16: Yay sleep!! I hope she keeps it up!
@winniebee: I guess swaddling is the way to go then! Hopefully you will start seeing even longer stretches. That sucks about dairy, but at least you now know that cutting it out helps. How long are babies usually intolerant for? When will you feel like you can start reintroducing it into your diet?
honeydew / 7283 posts
@whenoceansrise: that sounds brutal! I hope you have better nights ahead!
@Freckles: glad A is feeling better!
@Adira: yay for short colds! Ugh, pumping for a year I stopped BF by 12 weeks with M so I never pumped at work. Not looking forward to it!
@cheert16: such a great night
@winniebee: glad the miracle blanket seems to be helping! Sorry that it seems like you're going to be in the dairy-free club If it helps R though I'm sure you're happy to do it!

@winniebee: sorry no dairy and pizza, but glad there seems to be a pattern so you can help him!

J is 2 months today and slept in his own room last night! He had one MOTN feed around 2 and then slept 'til 7 I know that with M we all slept better when she was in her own room so I hope J keeps it up! It's such a game-changer to not be tiptoing around him in our room.

@MrsF: Pumping at work both sucks and is awesome. I couldn't work while pumping, so pumping was always a nice break for me. I'd usually read a book while pumping, which was relaxing. But pumping is also soooo stressful, worrying if you are getting enough each day and whether your supply is still good or not. I'm NOT looking forward to the stress of producing enough!

@MrsF: Happy two months! And that's awesome about the sleep! I hope that it keeps up for you.

G slept 5.5 hrs but woke up HANGRY my body is not used to her going that long so we had a milk fountain.....milk everywhere....lol

@Adira: Tyler went on special formula at 4.5 months Bc I just couldn't deal with it anymore (I was EP which was another hurdle). We started giving him stuff baked with dairy around 9 months and then maybe yogurt and cheese all of which he tolerated well. He was on whole milk by 13 months (he had some skin reactions but we actually were following with a GI specialist and she wanted us to push forward anyhow).
@MrsF: are you still cutting soy and dairy? What does your typical meal day look like? I've been having toast and PB or egg cooked in olive oil for 2 weeks for breakfast, turkey sandwiches for lunch, pasta and meats for dinner. Fruits and hummus, nuts. I feel like I'm still craving dairy snacks though. And more hungry too. Need some new ideas! I'm not going to read labels for now (like crackers and things) because it seemed to be fine.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: that's amazing! Hope he keeps it up! I am going to move Ryan when his first stretch is a little longer but he's definitely not going to be in our room for 6 mos!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: that actually sounds a lot like my day, food-wise. MSPI safe bagel with jelly or PB, coffee with almond or rice milk, lots of turkey sandwiches on safe bread and I've been making chicken or beef dishes with lots of veggies for dinners. Things like chili or tacos are good bc I can just skip the cheese or sour cream for myself. Lots of rotisserie chickens from the grocery store. Chips & salsa or fruit & veggies for snacks plus WAY too many Oreos. Lots of recipes from mspimama and other sites.
I'm planning on trying some soy in the next few weeks and maybe baked dairy after that. It would be so nice if I could avoid major dairy but not have to read labels in the grocery store with two screaming kids
I hope all your hard work pays off and R im sleeps better without dairy. Is he fussy in general or just wakes up frequently?
nectarine / 2053 posts
@winniebee: yes to co sleeping but last night I tried to put him down in his RnP to see if that would help but he wasn't having it. I also cut out major dairy to see if that would help with his spit up but I haven't really noticed anything. His spit up is pretty predictable though- he doesn't do it at all during the day but two or three times at night before bed and sometimes it's projectile.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: he's not particularly fussy unless he has a big burp he can't get up. He is much less fussy than my first so I think if he does have an intolerance it's mild. I think the early morning wakefulness is because of gas but that he's just taken time to get to longer stretches Bc he is still catching up weight for length. But who knows! I hope that you can get by without reading Labels too. It's so time consuming!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@whenoceansrise: our biggest spit ups are early morning too (like 4-5 am) that's when the fountains come on. He does spit up during the day too but much smaller amounts. I've had him on Zantac since Wednesday but I think he was less mad over spit ups before then. Is Micah fussy during spit ups or is he fine with it?
nectarine / 2053 posts
@winniebee: he's fine during but he hates it when we clean him up. It just looks awful watching it all spew out of him. I am thankful for my leather furniture (easy to clean) and that I only spent $75 on our glider because we get spit up everywhere! So ready for this to pass!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@whenoceansrise: I don't even use burp clothes. I burp him using a huge swaddle blanket and leave them in every location that he could spit up
nectarine / 2053 posts
@winniebee: good idea! We have burp cloths everywhere and I am thinking maybe keeping a bib on him will help. Seriously we have so much laundry!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@whenoceansrise: the laundry is definitely annoying - his and mine!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: that's good that he's less fussy than T was. I feel the same way. J's intolerance is WAY less severe than M's was.

Happy for those mamas that got 5-6 hr stretched! Send them my way pls! Got 2-2-4 last night. So swaddling with arms in don't really seem to help except for reducing the movements/noises she makes. She is also still always grunting and makings noise for that early morning stretch and I end up pulling her up to sleep on my chest!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: that is so awesome! Did you do anything diff or she just randomly gave you this long stretch?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: I know I'm dreading going back to work! So many friends I have just couldn't keep up supply and stopped between 3-4 mos. if I can even just go till 6 mos I'd be so happy! Tho I never even imagine making it to 2 mo with bf!
