@Ms.Mermaid: I’m glad there’s still hope for this cycle. I hope you get the timing you’d like. That hasn’t happened for me but I’ll be good with happening whenever with the idea it will be the perfect time then. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I feel nauseated and I’m super anxious and I know the nausea is caused by the anxiety but omg this feels so familiar but I literally ovulated yesterday or tomorrow I am not pregnant. How do people stay sane during the TWW without driving themselves batty?

@Ms.Mermaid: thank you! I think we’re going to give it another month and if we’re not successful, I think we’re going to take a break from TTC for my mental break lol. It would definitely be a great Christmas present though if it happened in December.

    Good luck on your TWW!!

@patientlywaiting19: I’m starting to go crazy in this tww. I was doing well on vacation but started to feel weird yesterday and it’s growing today. I really am beginning to wonder but I’ve been down this road before and it hasn’t worked so I’m so trying not to get my hopes up. Just one day at a time until AF arrives or I get a bfp.

Hi ladies! AF arrived on Saturday for me, so I'm moving over from the Nov. board. As I said over there, this is our final month of ttc before we go to see the obgyn in January and see what our options are as far as letting science help us down the parenthood path. (I also turn 35 in January.)

    Cycle Day: 2
    TTC Cycle: 8
    Ovulation Date: 12/9
POAS Date: 12/25. Bring on the Christmas miracle!
    Baby #: 1
Holiday plans: We have one work cocktail party and a 7-hour road trip for Christmas to see both of our families.
Favorite Holiday dish/cookie: I looooove baking, so I've already started whipping up gingerbread cookies, and just made a ginger-spice layer cake. Bring on the baking!

@afc061018: I’m sorry you are joining us but welcome. I just prayed for all the sweet HB ladies ttc - asking for us all to have some Christmas miracles. I hope you get yours.

I too love to bake. I just made cranberry kiss bars - skinny taste recipe - half the calories of the Starbucks ones but tasted so amazingly good. Even my DH (whi sneers at the idea of skinny food) loved them.

For those of you who have been through several cycles, how did you stop symptom spotting every month? I think I'm setting myself up for disappointment and I would like to be more relaxed about this process but I'm such an anxious person. Does anyone have a mantra they use or other strategies?

  20. afc061018

    apricot / 301 posts

@Ms.Mermaid: I'm planning to call tomorrow to schedule a January apt. I'd been waiting because I had high hopes for November (first month temping alongside OPKs, and I found temping super helpful), but it didn't happen for us. I have my annual exam in January anyway, so one way or another, I'm going in.

As for symptom spotting, I was awful about it in October, but last month was easier, I think because I was so bad about it in October and didn't want to set myself up for disappointment so badly again. I find the only thing that eases my mind is to be kind of meticulous about logging any symptoms in FF.

@MrsJBeeG: Thanks for the prayers and well wishes! And cranberry kiss bars sound delicious! Are they like shortbread? I've made a cranberry-orange shortbread before that was perfect during the holidays.

Oh boy. Just took an OPK and it’s not even a minute! I was definitely having a ton of EWCM the last day or so, so this makes me excited that it was leading up to this.

With that said, can my POAS date be changed to 12/13?

@MrsJBeeG: I'm just now trying to play catch up on this board. Vienna sounds amazing!!! I picture a movie-like scenery I hope you guys have an absolutely wonderful time!

  23. Ms.Mermaid

@afc061018: It hadn't occurred to me to log my symptoms in FF, but reading through an old board where I mentioned having a lot of nausea around ovulation made me pause and realize that what I had decided was a pregnancy symptom was just a normal thing that happens monthly and I usually just ignore it. So I'm definitely going to track it so that I stop thinking every tiny thing is a symptom when I'm like, 3dpo.

  24. patientlywaiting19

    @MrsJBeeG: those bars sounds amazing!

@Ms.Mermaid: I agree, I need a strategy to not symptom spot this month. I tried last month not too but no matter what it’s always in the back of my mind. Pure torture lol.

@Mrs. Oreo: looking good! Have fun

I had a typo. They are cranberry bliss bars

If you google skinny taste cranberry bliss bars - you find them. Only 150 calories and they taste amazing. They are like a sugar cookie with white choclate chips and cranberries. Then cream cheese icing with more cranberries and melted chocolate on the top.

@Mrs. Oreo: I hope it will be beautiful. I love Christmas at home - it’s my preference since I used to travel a lot to spend that holiday with my family before I met my DH. But he really wanted to go so I’m hoping it will be a lovely trip.

@afc061018: @Ms.Mermaid: I’m on the symptom spotting crazy train this month. I was better last month - could be when I compared last month to this month in Ovia - I didn’t have many symptoms at all last month. 😬

I do have my hopes up after having mild/dull cramps off and on for 24 hours, lots of CM and some nausea/lightheadedness on 8/9 dpo. But I’m trying to tell myself it could be nothing and I need to expect a bfn. Sigh. I really do hate the tww.

  30. afc061018

    apricot / 301 posts

@Ms.Mermaid: Lol! I can see how nausea would be a really tempting symptom to confuse. I normally have cramping and backaches, so if I was nauseated, I would totally think I was pregnant!

@Mrs. Oreo: Wohoo! Those are some great lines!

@MrsJBeeG: Fingers crossed! The tww is a special kind of torture.

  31. Ms.Mermaid

    kiwi / 745 posts

@MrsJBeeG: the TWW is the worst. I cannot believe science has not advanced enough to magically tell you if you are pregnant immediately.

I’m feeling nauseated again today. I had heartburn yesterday but maybe I shouldn’t have had pie for breakfast. I’m also totally getting sick.

....I also ordered two Big Sister shirts from Carters during their weekend sale so I can use them to tell my husband if I’m pregnant. I used a “best gift ever” onesie to tell him about our first so now I feel like I’ve set the bar and I can’t just shout at him from the bathroom. But now I have a 3yo and no time to shop.

  32. patientlywaiting19

    olive / 53 posts

@afc061018: I have the same symptoms during the TWW, mild cramping but major backaches and always end up with AF.

@Ms.Mermaid: I bought DD a Best Big Sister shirt a few months ago and we are still waiting to use it lol. Hopefully in December!

  33. Ms.Mermaid

    kiwi / 745 posts

@patientlywaiting19: I am so worried I have jinxed it by buying one. With my first, I was terrified when I bought maternity pants at 10 weeks that I was somehow going to cause myself to have a miscarriage.

I maybe don't have rational fears.

Sadly, my symptoms have been totally engulfed by the daycare plague, so the answer to "how do I stop symptom spotting" is "get incredibly, instantly sick", apparently.

  34. MrsJBeeG

    clementine / 787 posts

@Ms.Mermaid: @patientlywaiting19: i totally get the worry of jinxing. I don’t have kids but purchased the sweetest stuffed elephant for a baby in October. I sometimes wonder if I’ll get to have it in a baby’s room at the rate I’m going.

I almost pulled out a test this morning when I woke up to test. But I’m confident that it’s too soon so I resisted. I told myself I’ll enjoying thinking I could be rather than staring at a blank space and telling myself it’s too soon. Hoping for a lot of little Christmas surprises this December!

  35. Ms.Mermaid

    kiwi / 745 posts

@MrsJBeeG: I almost tested this morning too because I...have no self control. But I’m like, 6 DPO and that’s just ridiculous. I’m trying to wait until 10dpo, since that’s when I got my BFP last time.

  36. LabradorLover

    kiwi / 548 posts

I hope all of you ladies who are symptom spotting turn up with BFPs!! I tell myself every cycle that I won't do that and I won't test too early and I never end up listening to myself. I feel better knowing it isn't just me...

  37. MrsJBeeG

    clementine / 787 posts

@Ms.Mermaid: 10 dpo is awesome for a positive. Hope that happens for you now. I had a positive at 13 dpo when I got pregnant this spring. So I hesitate to think I’m out until AF really shows.

  38. MrsJBeeG

    clementine / 787 posts

@LabradorLover: lol. I’m glad you shared that you do it to so I know I’m not alone on the crazy train during the tww.

  39. Ms.Mermaid

    kiwi / 745 posts

@MrsJBeeG: I had such severe nausea during the TWW that I was pretty sure I was pregnant, and I think FF messed up the timing of my ovulation so I think I was maybe 13DPO. I am still having nausea now but I'm also really sick, so I'm trying hard to talk myself down and get myself some chill. It would still be bonkers to be this sick at 6dpo, so I think its psychosomatic/I am actually just sick.

  40. LabradorLover

    kiwi / 548 posts

@MrsJBeeG: haha nope, definitely not alone!! It’s terrible and I wish I could stop but just can’t!

@Ms.Mermaid: good luck to you!! I hope you feel better soon...or maybe you won’t because you’ll be pregnant!
