Depends how much of a mess she makes, but I always try. I also use those plastic placemats that stick to the table so I put all her mess in that and wrap it up when we are done. I need to remember to put a big napkin or small blanket under her chair to catch the majority of the food that hits the floor so I'm not on y hands and knees.

I "make" LO clean up after himself and apologize to the server if they have to sweep.
Fast food restaurants I do the same and then LO throws out his own garbage etc.

i try to and i feel like 75% of the time, the staff stops me and tells me they got it. i think they like that i'm making an effort! so i voted sometimes since i always try, but not always successful.

It depends on what kind of mess. If it's a lot of small crumbs on the floor, I'll leave it. But if it's bigger pieces, I'll pick it up. Silverware, I always pick up. Her messes aren't so bad anymore though.

I was a server many years ago and this poll does not explain all the messes I saw left by most families at the tables in the restaurant.
Maybe HelloBee moms are just much cleaner than other moms? -
before i had kids, i didn't know how much of a mess they could make. the first time we ate out with LO, there were chunks of food sprinkled on the floor--i felt like i had to clean it up.
@Jenn23: i think it's definitely easier to speak up/vote on this one when you're a mom that does clean up!

Yep as much as I can on the table. I leave a bigger tip if DS has made a mess of the floor.

I try to clean up as best I can and we leave a bigger tip to compensate. We also used these table covers for a long time. Now that she's 2.5 we don't have to use them but they were awesome when she was younger and would make a mess while eating. I would just sweep everything onto it and fold it up to toss. I would get them at Target.

Absolutely. I'm on my hands and knees every time. I'll be honest, too- I judge people when I see them leaving a big mess. I've been in the service industry, and I can't tell you how frustrating it is to have milk dumped all over tables, bread stuffed in water glasses that won't come out, and food everywhere.

@autumnlove: they are so great for cleaning up and for those times where the table doesn't seem the cleanest - like on the go dining in the airport!

I'm still a few weeks away from baby but I will always clean up at a restaurant. I waited tables at a chain for years and years and always had to clean up after messy kids. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
