I usually don't. I have a common name with two equally common ways to spell it- in fact one of my best friends has the same name and spells it the other way.

I agree it's a lack of attention to detail, but as long as they are calling me the right name, meh. I always double check in emails, especially when it's a name with two common spellings (like I know a Lindsay and a Lindsey).

I have a common name but with a unique spelling, I just let people spell it how they want to because I usually just end up confusing them if I try to spell it for them.

Nah, my name is spelled oddly. Usually people know it's spelled differently and throw some odd letters in, so points for trying (even though it's usually spelled out in the email ).

I usually only correct people if I feel it's important--employers, billing, medical, etc. Occasionally someone will ask. My younger brother is an awful speller and spelled my name wrong often until he was in high school. Not a big deal to me.

I don't. I only do if it matters...like making a dr's appt, etc. Otherwise, I really don't care. My name isn't terribly common and is commonly misspelled, but it just doesn't tend to bother me.

My name is a wacky spelling of a common name (I'm eastern european) so people always spell my name wrong. I only ever correct people when it's something I need spelled correctly (for example I need to pick something up and have to show identification with my name on it) or something like that.

I only correct if important (for an official document or something), or if someone spells the name back at me and gets it wrong. I pretty much expect people to spell my name incorrectly (the spelling is less common than the typical way) so I don't really mind much. I do correct it when people pronounce it incorrectly though.

I does annoy me, but I don't usually correct them. Today I accidentally addressed a "Theresa" as "Teresa," and I felt badly and corrected myself right away. How are people so frequently oblivious?

At work for me, no. Anytime for my daughter? Yes. We spelled her name with as few letters as possible. Please don't add your a or h. Thank you.

I get misspelled all the time at work because aboard spelling of my name is common in the country most of my colleagues live in. It doesn't bother me in daily communication, although it would if it were on a website or in public presentation of some sort.

Always. Well, most of the time, my barista can spell it however as long as I get my coffee.

For some reason the other two spellings of my name drive me insane.

My name get's mispelled and mispronounced all the time. I correct people if I will be likely to interact with them frequently, otherwise I don't worry about it.

People spell and pronounce both my first and last name incorrectly. I don't correct them, unless it's someone who I will be interacting with a lot. DS has a fairly common name, so there shouldn't be that problem.

@californiadreams: I correct people because they're idiots for spelling it any other way.

@Torchwood: my brother misspelled his SON's name when he sent out a text announcing he was born. So my whole side of the family spelled it wrong for weeks until his wife made him tell us. Seriously, brother? (His son goes by a very short easy nickname (Max) but has a long full name)

Meh, no. I also don't correct if they call me the wrong name lol.

ALWAYS. I have a very very simple 3 letter name, and I constantly say NO E. always gets added onto the end. I particularly hate it when someone posts to my facebook page with my name spelled incorrectly. ITS RIGHT THERE!
