Our daycare just mentions fever as a rule to not bring them in.
Both don't have fevers, both were clear runny noses yesterday, but DD has yellow mucus today.
I called the daycare to check and they said they recommend that we take them to see the dr but there is no policy that says they should stay home.
Does your daycare's sick policy mention anything other than fever?

DDs preschool says if it's green/yellow to keep them home. Along with the typical diarrhea, vomiting and fever. They must be 100% symptom free for 24 hours before going back.

I'm pretty sure color doesn't actually mean anything. If it's a standard runny nose I send her, if she seems actually uncomfortable and sick I try to keep her home. Other than that we just go by fever, vomiting, etc
ETA: kids have colds basically all the time October through April around here, it seems

No. B would miss basically half the year if they cared. Only fever/vomiting/diarrhea.

Ours is the same as @erinbaderin: and I agree - the kids in DD's class seem to always have gross runny noses. I hate it but I also can't keep DD home for a week when she's the one with the gross nose... Sigh.

Just the usual vomit/diarrhea/fever to have kids stay home. Kids seem to have a lingering cough or runny nose from fall till spring.

Nope, not in the policy. Like others have mentioned, if this was a rule, we'd all be paying to keep them home half the year. It's nasty, but it is what it is!

Yep, ours says fever, consistent wet cough, green mucous and the obvious throwing up/diarrhea.

Mucous color doesn't mean anthing. Ours includes fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and rashes only.
