I used cardboard over the window for a similar purpose, and it worked fine (and was obviously temporary).

I didn’t even know they existed! They sound intriguing though.

Is there any way to put a tension rod and drapes up? That could be another temporary option?

@raspberries: was going to suggest these too. We’ve used these multiple times and they are great. Come down very easily when ready but stay up as long as you need them (in one instance we used them for a whole year, on a door like the one you described @MaryM:)

@marym we used those blackout paper blinds in my son's room as blackouts for like 6 months. They come with plastic clips to hold them in place for when you fold up the blinds, and we clipped them up during the day, unclipped them at night, and they were still going strong when we finally replaced them with something permanent.

Another thumbs up for the paper redi blinds. They have non blackout ones too, more light filtering for privacy than black out. We used the same pair in my daughters room for two years plus, but we pretty much left them down almost all the time. I have them in our guest room now and they have gone up and down a bunch and are still great. But like someone else said they are a little annoying to open and close and wouldn’t be something i would want to do like three times a day five days a week.

We use magnetic blinds on a door at home and never have issue with them. Just get the plastic blinds, they are less noisy and hold up well. I used a roll of wrapping paper on my door for pumping purposes, white side out to the other office space. It was a violation of security code but oh well, my door was wood though so the magnetic blinds were not an option.
