Confession: If you have a hotmail or yahoo email address.. I sort of judge you. (I mean, it's not insurmountable... but you get an eyebrow).
It's just... who doesn't have gmail anymore? lol
What really dumb things do you judge people for?

haha, I have a hotmail account!
BUT it's not my main account. I got it when I was in middle school and now I use it as my junk e-mail. Whenever I go to a website that wants me to sign up, I just give it my hotmail account. My regular account is gmail.
My mom actually has hotmail (it's actually outlook.com now I think) because she didn't like how Google would read her e-mails and target ads at her with gmail.

I judge you based on your phone. If you have a flip phone, I'm judging hard. And if you own a business I judge you based on your website.

@Adira: same here-- I kept my hotmail with my maiden name and that's what I use for sales and signing up for things and whatever. My gmail is actually only for things that I want to get, like emails from people who know who I am.
However I have family members who still have hotmail. accounts.

@ShootingStar: If you have a flip phone, I assume you are at least 75, no?
grapefruit / 4085 posts
Haha! My husband still has a Yahoo account he uses for junk mail-type things.

@ShootingStar: What's wrong with a flip phone? Some of us don't want to pay for data plans!

Okay caveat: You can HAVE another account-- but if you give it out to friends, thats where the judging happens
@Adira: I mean... google is probably gearing up to use all its creepy intel to overthrow the world governments and become our (hopefully benevolent) leaders... but it's just... gmail is what you use. haha. It's so much better than other emails!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mae: haha, I totally agree! I eye-rolled at my mom when she told me why she got an outlook account instead of gmail!

My first ever email account was Hotmail in 5th grade. Can't believe it's still around!!!!

@ShootingStar: Oh man, I totally judge websites. If you have a shitty website, I assume you're too lazy to fix it, ergo you are too lazy for me to want to work with. However, a shitty website is better than none at all. I get unreasonably annoyed when a business doesnt even both to have one.

DH's main account is hotmail because he's had it for so long! I don't judge on email really, unless it's aol. If a business doesn't have a website though, that annoys me!

I have a hotmail account that I have had since forever- it was my very first email, so I have had it for about 15 years. I still have it because it is a way for people to always still find me. My number has changed, my address has changed, but I still have that account.
I also have a Gmail account.

I have a yahoo account. Had it for about 15 years. It's adult appropriate (not like sexychick@yahoo.com). I have a bunch of random gmail accounts but I forget the passwords and it's so hard to recover your password. So I just gave up on gmail.
honeydew / 7586 posts
I use my hotmail account for junk mail! All the stores I shop at send emails to my hotmail. I use my gmail for my personal email.
coconut / 8472 posts
@Foodnerd81: Haha yes. That's the kind of phone my grandma has. Even my non tech savvy parents have iPhones.
@Adira: If you personally have a flip phone I'm going to judge you even harder because you're in the same industry I am . In software we value technology for its own sake. The data plan is a small price to pay .
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ShootingStar: I do have a flip phone! I refuse to pay for a data plan. I don't even have a texting plan.

@Mae: Ha. The email thing is so funny. People still have AOL accounts!!!

I feel so old when I see people posting that they had email addresses in elementary school! Email wasn't invented when I was in elementary school!

I have a Yahoo account with my maiden name. I synced it to my Gmail. I deleted my hotmail ages ago. I judge dudes with phone hip holsters hard.

Haha, I have an old yahoo account I use for spam but my primary account is gmail
pomegranate / 3113 posts
My hotmail is also my account for store emails and such. I think I got it in 7th grade, soo...1994 or 1995? Holy crap.

i was dying when i friend who is younger than me, maybe 27, sent me her email address and it was @aol.com! i was like, are you the last one with this account?! ha.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@LML: I was in 6th grade when we got to "send an e-mail" to a class in Canada. I remember the e-mail address was a full paragraph long! I think I was a sophomore or junior in high school when friends started to have the Internet at home. (Which seemed like a huge luxury!)

Ummm, I think I'm completely uncool. My primary account is hotmail. I didn't realize email addresses went out of style.
I mostly have it because it's impossible to get a gmail account username that hasn't been already taken and doesn't have a bunch of random numbers in it.
Kind of reminds me of that one Seinfeld episode where Elaine was embarrassed that she had an "uncool" area code in her phone number.
bananas / 9227 posts
My primary email is Yahoo. I have a Gmail, but I hardly ever use it. Sorting email is so much easier on Yahoo!
grapefruit / 4819 posts
Yeah, I'm totally uncool then. Hotmail is my primary account and whilst I have a gmail account, I never use it, I just don't like it. I started my hotmail account after university (probably about the time a lot of you were in 5th grade or whatever ) and feel it is too big of a pain in the ass to change it now. Let the judging commence
I judge people who can't spell or use punctuation correctly, with my primary pet peeve being possessive s when one is trying to convey a plural. That and the your/you're mix ups.... I do judge, what can I say?
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
I totally have yahoo! I am too lazy to update everything to a new account, mostly
nectarine / 2272 posts
My feelings on hotmail are that everyone I knew that had one got one of those viruses that sent random emails to people. AOL i would definitely judge but I know people who have yahoo.

I use my yahoo account for things when I don't want people to know my real name.
eggplant / 11716 posts
I have Hotmail and Gmail. But it's my Gmail that is full of junk mail and mommy group listservs....so I use Hotmail if someone really wants to get in touch with me.
eggplant / 11716 posts
oh, and I've had my same Hotmail account for 17 years, haha. Since I was in HS.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
DH has a yahoo and I have hotmail for our junk accounts. I still use hotmail for pay pal cause I am too lazy to change. I use gmail as my main email.
nectarine / 2932 posts
I use yahoo! It all looks the same on my phone - I never log on on a computer anymore. I have a gmail account but it's actually my 'junk' account that I give stores.
pomegranate / 3845 posts
I couldn't tell you what people have as their email addresses, I don't have that kind of time to be worried about whether it's gmail or yahoo or hotmail or whatever. On my phone or computer, it just comes up as their name, so I'd have to drill down to see their actual email address and I don't care.

@littlejoy: My dad still has an aol account. I can not convince him to change.
