We bought a house that needs a total renovation. It has a detached garage about 150 feet from the house. I love having an attached garage, and DH is indifferent and would prefer not to spend the money, but willing if I really want it. The estimate is significantly higher than we expected, but still in a range we can afford. We're TTC#1, and I wonder how much nicer it will be to have an attached garage. How important is it?

ETA: we live in a cold climate, and I don't see DH or me waking up early to snowplow. This is our forever house, and it doesn't make sense to do it later- it's either now or never. We have enough money that we can still do the house the way we were planning, it just means less cushion. A covered walkway will end up costing close to as much since it is so long and will create other problems. We have to buy a truck since this is for a farm, and it won't fit into the detached garage. It's not the end of the world to park it outside, but it would be nice to put it in a garage.
