~50. Yay DC area - we live 1 mile away from daycare and 6 miles away from our work, and our commute is about an hour, so we have to drop her off by 8 at the absolute latest and depending on evening traffic, DH gets there between 5:30 and 6 to pick her up (after leaving the office at 4:30).

We only use daycare in the mornings. We started at age 20 months for two mornings per week, and then six months later we switched to five mornings per week. We have a combination of grandparent care and a sitter the rest of the time. So, our son is in daycare for about 25 hours per week, and then other coverage for another 30 hours (including nap and a trip to the park each day). I usually work from home about once per week so sometimes I can sneak out and see him while I'm home too.

We used a combination of daycare and grandparent care, so we never used the full hours we paid for. I believe the center was open from 7 to 6.
