The stockings that I REALLY wanted but missed the opportunity for last year's Christmas on mamabargains are back right now. The ones I want are $16.99 on the deal site. They look to be a really great quality. I am wondering if I should buy it now or wait for a coupon (hard to come by).

I bought my son his ginormous stocking on clearance from pottery barn kids, for about $9. I had to have it monogrammed, so that made it $15.
For my husband and I, I got the same style, also on clearance, monogrammed for about the same price. My son's stocking is about 3 times larger, lol, but they all cost the same.

I got a new one last year, but I work at a retail store that sells them at Christmas time, so I was able to get it for 75% off after Christmas.. I believe it was like $30 to start though.

I think we paid around $25-$30 from Pottery Barn kids. I think that as long as you plan on using them for a long time, and they are nice quality so you can do so, it's worth it to spend a little money. I think $16.99 is a great price!

I think I bought ours at TJ Maxx or something like that and spent just a few dollars each. But they aren't really that important to me, so I didn't look too hard.

We got ours at Wal-Mart, but I forgot how much it was. I know a few others have snagged some from there as well (they're surprisingly nice)! It was def under $20 .. maybe even under $15?

Here's my next question. We are planning on having at least one more child and there is always a fear of company closing down. I think this personalization ^ is pretty generic and any embroidery place can match. Should I buy an extra one NOT personalized for future baby #2? I want all the stockings to match on the fireplace!

Ehh, I totally plan to get other stockings down the line, right now my son is a kid and I want our christmases to reflect that. I had originally wanted ivory cable knit ones, like sweaters, but we'll get those later. Now, we enjoy the child ones.

That sounds like a good deal since they will be used over and over. My mom bought A's for her and DH and I got some when we moved in together, so they don't match but it's ok.

@looch: I think I am with you on this one. P love Minnie Mouse, so I think we will get her a Minnie one. DH and I need new ones, but we will just get whatever is cheap Plus, we don't have a mantle, I think if we did I would be more particular about what they looked like.

@bpcmarj: Yeah, that's my feeling! I mean, I want him to remember that he had this huge stocking and he could fit in it as a child, lol.
The thing is, you can totally plan for them to have heirloom "whatever, " but then they only get one. And then they get married and their partner has another stocking, so what happens? They get new ones, lol, unless they liked the mixed look!

@looch: I don't intend for my children to keep using their stocking when they're married. Anyway, I never had this kind of stuff growing up so it's important for me to provide that for our children. I'm not going to be upset if when she's old enough she wants and asks for a Disney Princess stocking. I'll just put this one away for when she outgrows the Disney princess.

I'm getting large personalized stockings from Paloma's nest.
They're expensive, but I plan on using them for many Christmases to come.

We dont have PB stores here, so I'd have to order sight unseen.
I plan on them being forever stockings, so Im not too bothered by spending slightly more on them. I think under $30/stocking is pretty good. $30 would be my max.
I was in love with the idea of getting ones that were vintage chenille, but they're just way too expensive and would cost as much to make as I would buying those ones. Christmas stockings is just not something i'm willing to spend tons on per stocking.

@locavore_mama: to answer your 2nd question... yes, I would absolutely by an extra non-personalized one for the future baby! That's what I did last year before J was born. I did personalize it though because we had already decided his name and knew he was going to be a boy.

I knitted ours, and the yarn came to about $16/stocking (but I didn't use all of it so I can use the rest to make some other little things like ornaments or baby socks).
