When younger (under 2) a lot!!

When she was a newborn all the time. Now I only sit back there if it's close to nap time and I don't want her to fall asleep in the car (she's 17 months old).

Very rarely. Usually only if someone else is riding with us and I give them the front seat.

Never, save for long car trips.

I never thought I would be the type of parent that sits in the backseat with my child. Guess what? I do it 100% of the time, and LO is now 12 months old. Part of the problem is that we live in the city so hardly ever drive. When we do drive, it's usually a disaster. For instance, we drove 30 hours in December over four days, and he slept for a total of thirty minutes each day (he normally naps 3 hours a day). I am hoping to move to the front seat once he is front facing.

We've never done that. He's used to all of his car rides being 20 minutes to an hour each way and he watches us in his mirror.

Almost always until about 6 months old. After that, we occasionally sit back there to help with a snack or something.

DD is 11 months and I don't think we have ever done this.

Just on long trips or of I don't want him to fall asleep. He's 10 months old.

Always on road trips.

ETA: we do it because our LO hates the car seat. If it's a short trip to the grocery store or something, we don't--but all trips over an hour, one of us is sitting in the back. If we're both in front, LO screams and screams and we can't manage her from the front in a safe way.

I do commute with her to work solo (so I am driving and she is alone in back), and that's 50 minutes each way, but it's a total disaster 50% of the time.

It just depends on the kid--some kids love their car seat I've been told. But not my kid.

If we all ride home from work/daycare together, one of us usually sits with her whole the other drives -- mostly because we've missed her all day and want those few extra minutes with her. Sometimes one of us will at other times if she seems extra fussy. We don't really take long road trips, though.

Every time! They'll scream themselves silly if they can't see us (or each other), but if I sit in the back they will fall asleep immediately just by holding my hand. A couple times after they fall asleep I've crawled up into the front so I could talk to DH easier!

Sat in the back during one trip when LO was very little. After that, we never sat in the back. And with 2 kids, we didn't fit in the back.

A handful of times when DD was a newborn/infant.

Never. Not when she was a newborn and not now.

For the first month or so (not too many trips, just to the doctor, Target, etc), all the time because I was a paranoid first-time mommy.

Since then, just on long car trips (~8 hour drive each way for Christmas), mostly.

Long trips I do, and if she's sick or upset for some reason.

I've been sitting in the backseat since DD1 was born with the exception of a few times. DD2 is only 6 months so I will likely be back there for another 6 months then switch to the front. It's cramped sitting between two car seats!

Most of the time one of us sits with him. But he has some health concerns and we have had to travel lots for appointments. If it's just me driving him around town he is fine to entertain himself. He will be 9 months next week.
