My son is 2.5 on Wednesday and I think we are officially done nursing! He went to sleep just now for nap without nursing and no tears. He didn't even ask! I told him at lunch, since there is no mommy milk left (18 weeks pregnant) and you are such a big boy, we aren't going to have mommy milk for nap. He didn't really say anything. And he fell asleep in about 15 min! I am so proud. Bittersweet emotions but mostly just proud and happy.

Congrats mama! We had a similar experience where I thought it was going to be sooo hard to wean her and then she took it so well. It is bittersweet but you've done a great job! Props to you for nursing while pregnant too!

That's great that it was such a nice ending of a nice long nursing relationship! I think my 18 month old is almost ready to be done. We dropped down to only once a day at bedtime this week and I'm both looking forward to and sad about it ending soon.

Hooray, congrats! We just weaned a few weeks ago, at about 26 months. It was pretty easy, after a little rockiness at dropping the second-to-last feed. DD occasionally will ask me "nursing all gone?" to make sure the story is still straight, and I confirm that yes, nursing is all gone - BUT yesterday I explained to her that nursing will come back when baby brother is born, and she was not thrilled to hear that brother will need all the milk for himself. Definitely some pouting. But she took it pretty well.

@MrsADS: That was so us, not many months ago. He was so so into nursing. I was worried he would never quit. Slowly setting limits and then being quite gradual in eliminating sessions was the way for us! The hardest was for sure night weaning.

@mrsbubbletea: I would definitely bet that he'll remember. But he'll probably be fine if you just explain everything to him - kids can be resilient, and I think toddlers do really get that babies need special care etc.
