I have cousins on my dad's side, but they are maybe a decade or so older than me. That was a big difference growing up, so we weren't that close growing up.
My cousins on my mom's side are a bit younger than me. We'd be friends, but they live in Japan and my Japanese isn't good enough to email with them. I used one of their names as a password for a while though... does that count?
If you have cousins, are they the same age as you? Are you guys close?

I have 2 boy cousins on my mom’s side. They are 2 and 4 years younger than I am but they grew up really closely with my sister and I (she is also 2 years younger than I am). On my dad’s side most of my cousins are MUCH older and live in Ohio so we haven’t spent as much time with them.

Nope. I have one first cousin on my mom's side. She is 11 years older than me. I have one other young person, my second cousin on my dad's side, and she is 11 years younger than me. That's it.

It kind of funny. All of the cousins in my family are three years apart.
My oldest cousin is 9 years older, 6 years older, my sister is 3 year older, than me, than 3 years younger, then I have two that are six years younger.
I have a Pretty close family but distance makes things difficult sometimes but we still talk and lov seeing ech other when it happens. I only have one cousin who doesn't talk to me. One of the six year younger ones was renting from me and I couldn't renew his lease because of financial hardships. He hasn't talked to me since

On my mom's side I have three first cousins, one a year older, one a year younger and one 6 years younger- all very close it was like I grew up with 3 extra siblings
On my dad's side there are 6 first cousins, I am pretty close with 3 of them- one is only 3 weeks older and we graduated HS together. I hope my LOs are as close with their cousins growing up.

Yep I was lucky to have a lot of cousins my age growing up. 2 on my dad's side that graudated the same year I did, and 1 on my mom's side. Plus several that are a year younger or older.

My cousins on my Dad's side are the same age as my mom! They have kids in college:) On my Mom's side, I have lots of cousins my age. There are also a bunch that are 12+ years younger than me. I'm not as close with them.

On my mom's side, I have 3 first cousins but they are all younger than me (10, 17, and 18)
On my dad's side, I have 6 first cousins. 4 are at least 9 years older than me. The other 2 are in elementary school (their dad/my uncle got divorced and remarried a lady in her 20s when he was 50, then they had kids)
I'm only close to the 10 year old cousin on my mom's side. I also have a few third cousins on my mom's side that I used to be close to because we grew up together. One of them is due in November with her first baby and I'm due in February. We're also 3 months apart in age, so that's pretty cool.

On my dad's side, I have only 1 cousin who is 17 years older than me. She was the only grandchild for a LONG time!
On my mom's side, I have 2 cousins who are 8 and 12 years older than me.
They've all had children of their own now and I am 8-12 years older than all of them. I was just in a weird age gap between my cousins and their children, with no one my age! As an only child I found it to be a bit lonely in my family.
I'm not particularly close with any of them.

I have a billion cousins, and most of them are much older or much younger than my sisters and me; my parents waited until their 30's to have kids, so there is a big age difference. The only cousins near my age are my dad's sister's husband's brother's kids (get that, lol?).

I have 7 cousins and one of them is married, so 8? One family which is My uncle and his 3 kids, no one really talks to them much, but the others are all VERY close- like hang out all day every day close. They're all about 5-8 years older than me and when I lived 2 minutes away from them I was young so we didn't really hang out toooo much, now that i'm older to be enjoyed by them I live about 45 min away so we don't see each other enough.
I'm closer with DH's 2 cousins than he is, I see them weekly.

@Oceanis723: This is my family too!! All the cousins are spread out by three years. I'm the baby at 27 and the oldest is 42. I think because there was always someone in the middle to bridge the age gap we all ended up really close. We are spread out so we don't see each other often but when we do it's awesome. We are actually all going to the beach together (and with our parents, SOs, kids, etc) this August and I am SO EXCITED. We went to this beach a lot when I was little but it's been probably 20 years since we were all there together.

I have a fair number of cousins of various ages (my great grandma had 10 children and all but 1 had children of their own). I have 10 first cousins.
Mom's side there are 5: oldest is around 38 and youngest is around 27. All but 2 grew up together (my uncle was in the air force so they lived out of state on base most of their life).
Dad's side there are also 5: oldest is around 40 youngest is around 20. Nobody grew up near each other.

I have 6 cousins on my dad's side - 4 of them are 16-18 years older than me, and two are my age (+/- a year). My dad and his twin brother are a decade younger than their two siblings, so that explains the age gap. We were always sort of thought of as two separate sets of cousins (4 bigs, 4 littles). Now that we're older it doesn't make as much of a difference.
I have 8 cousins on my mom's side, and they're spread out over 15 years or so, but most of them are within a few years of me.
Growing up we all (on both sides) lived in the same 20 mile area, so we saw each other all the time. Even now, most of them still live in this state, so we're still pretty close.

@mrbee: same as you, sorta! I have 6 cousins in the US on my mom's side, but they are all between 13 - 20 years older than me, so we weren't close. They also are scattered across the country.
On my dad's side, I have about 10 cousins who are closer in age to me. 3 of the girls are all my age and I adore them... to bad they all live in Taiwan and I only get to see them every few years

Yup, 5 female cousins in addition to my 2 sisters all around the same age. It's definitely slightly stressful since there tends to be a lot of competition and one of them is completely nuts and I don't talk to her any more.

On my mom's side, there are 11 cousins total, spread out over about 17 years. There are three age groups, four "older cousins," four "younger cousins" and then a pack of three in the middle. I am the youngest of the older cousins, so I am kind of in the middle. We are all very close to one another as far as cousin relationships go, and I feel so lucky to have had so many cousins growing up. It's weird to think that my kids will probably not have that, as I only have one brother and one sister and we all live too far away from each other now to have our kids "grow up" together. Sad

Two of my cousins were born in the same year as me. There are a lot of pictures of the three of us growing up. I'm sure we'll take another when we are on vacation in Sept.

i have one cousin the same age, but she lives in the midwest (i'm in CA) so we really don't see each other often at all. i have older and younger cousins, so i'm in the middle of all the cousins!
on DH's side, almost all the cousins are around our age. we see them often because they live in town.

All my cousin's on my dad's side are way, way older than me so no , we're not close. My cousin's on my mom's side are closer in age to me, but I'm only close to my two youngest cousins (I practically raised them) and they're 6 and 12 years younger than me.

I have one that is older who I haven't seen in about 20+ years, all the others are younger than me...pretty much ranging from 26 down to 8 y/o. It was fun growing up and taking care of them as LO's!

My cousins are all pretty close in age to me, but they lived in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Washington (state). So we only saw them once a year and we weren't very close.
Hubs' cousins are all close in age to him and his brothers and they all grew up within 20 minutes of each other, so they are super-close. When we first started dating, I was so envious of their relationships.

There are 20 cousins on my dad's side. I'm the oldest and my youngest cousin is 12 years younger. 13 of us are within 4 years of eachother. I like to think that most of us are pretty close. I found it weird that DH isn't close to his cousins, but most of them are far older or far younger than him.

I have a lot of cousins. I'm really close to the ones within 2-3 years from me the most. My closest cousin was born just 5 days ahead of me and we went to school together from nursery school to 8th grade. We were bridesmaids in each other's weddings and now we have kids the same age. I love my cousins!

I have a lot of cousins...I'm not even sure of the exact number but my Mom has 10 siblings and my Dad has 6! The majority of my cousins are at least 10 years older!

I'm the oldest on my dad's side, so their mostly young 20's and not at all the same stage as me. On my mom's I have quite a few within 5 years and one who's only 8 months younger and lives nearish. She's the closest thing I have to a sister (both with the love and with the fighting!), our little ones will be raised like first cousins.

I have lots of cousins. There's 9 on my mom's side ranging in age from 31-15. I'm 2nd from the youngest at 24. We see each other at most holidays and make it a point to go to weddings, graduations, etc. We all live within a couple of hours of each other. We'll sometimes get together for the heck of it and do something like go to an amusement park. We call it cousin's day.
On my dad's side there's 8 cousins ranging from mid 30's to 5th grade. I fall right in the middle. There's also 8 kids belonging to my cousins that range from 8th grade down. Again, see each other at most holidays and make weddings, graduations, showers, etc a priority. Less likely to socialize with this group of cousins but probably see them more regularly because they live a tad bit closer.

I have much older cousins from my mother's side and much younger ones from my father's. My oldest 1 was born on 1954, me 1975 and the youngest on 1996. Our ages are 21, 42 and 63!!!

On my dad's side, we are all within 5 years of each other (six total cousins including me and my siblings). We rarely see them even though they live the closest because of wild political differences (their choice not ours).
On my mom's side we are way more spread out- 25 years between oldest and youngest with a total of 13 first cousins including us. My mom is one of seven kids and my grandma was one of five so there are lots of people on that side! My oldest cousin's kids are close to my age. On that side, we all just tend to hang out with whoever is in our age range/ stage of life instead of who is "our" cousin. I'm closer to my mom's cousins on the younger end who are in their 30s with kids my age than I am to my cousin who is in his mid 40s with adult children. We see each other for occasional holidays and random weekends and always go to each other's weddings/ baby showers even if they are out of state.

On my dad's side, my cousins are near my age and some are a bit younger. On my mom's side, they my cousins are a lot younger (18, 11, 6, and 5 months), but that's because my aunt is only a few years older than me.

Not close. On my dad's side about 8-20 years older, plus didn't live close to us, on my mom's just one who was born when I was 22 so feels more like a nephew. I always wished I had some!

I have boatloads of first cousins.
On my moms side I am the oldest and there are some close in age. The youngest is about 12 years younger. I was close with a lot of them growing up and we saw them lots.
On my dads side there are a few older than me by about 3-4 years and the youngest is probably 16 years younger. While we saw these cousins frequently I was never as close with them.

I have 13 first cousins that range from about 15 years older than me to about 20 years younger than me. I played with the ones closest to me in age a lot when I was a kid. Now, I see the closest ones a few times a year.
