Our LO just figured it out. She took bottles easily and our nanny would rock her to sleep and then put her in bed. And then when we switched to a nanny share, our former nanny couldn't rock both girls to sleep, so LO learned how to nap in the pack and play, the nanny would just pat her on the back.

I think kids adapt and sleep differently for different people.

When she was an infant my mom would time the bottles and she would nap after she had a bottle with some rocking. Now that she's a real toddler (almost 2) she doesn't nap till I get home. I have to figure out a new nap strategy.

As a nanny I can't say I have ever had a problem figuring this out. Some kids have gotten drowsy enough while taking the bottle that I can either lay them down like that or I can bounce/rock them the rest of the way down. Others have dinner more of the eat, awake, sleep schedule and we typically find a method of rocking and then patting or something similar.

I would give your nanny a few pointers and then expect the first week to have crummy naps. They will quickly find their groove though and then it should be smooth sailing.
