I only have the experience of having one (2 years, 9 months), but sometimes this is normal. For us, it's way worse when she's out of her routine or overtired. And generally, we'll have a rough couple of days or a week and then we'll get a little break before the next spell happens. If it's constant, then that is really tough!

@Cherrybee: Mine is in a good space this month at almost 34 months, but I feel like toddler-hood is a roller coaster where they are horrifying then enchanting, over and over again.
It is weird how quickly it all fogs over in my mind, so I can't think of exact details, but I have very clear recollections of really not liking her (horrible, I know) and not understanding how people have more than one and, the next month or whenever, being blown away by how amazing and interesting she is.
I hope your next phase, a nice phase, comes ASAP!

@Cherrybee: How old is your LO (I know I should know- I wish we could put that is our profiles).
Mine didn't sleep through until 2+. I followed all of the rules then broke all of the rules, since following them didn't help. Anyway, her mood definitely improved when her sleep got better, but I have no idea what clicked for her. Good luck, mama- the sleep thing almost drove me crazy, really. I was driving through red lights, fecking up at work, walking out of the grocery w/ my cart before paying, etc and I definitely was not in the mood for toddler angst.

C is the same age and this is her when she doesn't sleep. If she slept well she really is a sweet, chill, generally happy kid (unless she is is teething or sick). But if she skips a nap- I'm just screwed. And her sleep has been quite the roller coaster lately, complete with Dh and I taking turns sleeping with her in the bed in her room. It's really doing wonders for or relationship too.

mostly after daycare. i think it is a long day for him and he doesn;t nap as well there as at home. another reason i plan to stay home at least part time in the future.

2 was hellish. Disagreeable a good portion of the time. Sleep improved after 1.5, but man was everything else was a fight.

I'm loving 3, he's sweet and loving and listens much better. He's fun to be around, eats well, and just is a cool little dude. He whines a lot, but I shut that down as quickly as possible. He also tests boundaries, but I call him out on it and our communication is much easier now.

Knowing what I know now, I'd have waited until 3 to have another, 2 was pretty awful since I ruined his life with a little brother.

Sounds like mine when she's tired. I took her to the Children's Museum today and then for lunch afterwards. She's usually really calm and good in restaurants. Today it was close to naptime and she was crying and whiny and arching her back. Took her home and put her to bed. She was so tired she fell asleep when I was holding her with her head straight up.
