@Amorini: No herbs, just acupuncture.
This morning I started freaking out that if I wait til Monday (CD11) for my monitoring appointment, it will be too late to add injectables. I'm on day 4 of Femara. I called and have an appointment tomorrow morning (CD8). I know this is idiotic, but part of me wants twins and then to be done.

@AmeliaBedilia: Part of me wants that too. We want two kids, but I really don't think that I can go through all of this a second time.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: @Aqualov: I'll join you in this. I'd like two kids, also. Even three kids! I don't have a strong desire to have twins, but I'm very much ready to be finished with this TTC/IF stage of my life.

@dookie32: I'm so sorry you are having to deal with yucky insert meds. Well, just to counter to aforementioned desire, progesterone in oil shots that go in the hip/butt leave your butt sore yet also numb for weeks+ even after you are done with the shots. So I don't think there is a "pleasant" way to get the drugs we need for this lame IVF we have to be going through. It sucks for all of us - inserts and shots alike!
@PurplePumps: I did a genetic screening test at my doctors encouragement before I started IUIs and was worried about the cost but didn't end up paying too much for it. I hope you don't have to, either. Could either of those conditions be something that is preventing pregnancy?

@PurplePumps: When I did the Counsyl genetic screening, my insurance was billed over $3k but then when it was rejected, I got a personal bill for only $99. Good luck!!!!

@agold: @Aqualov: @AmeliaBedilia: Me, three! Or four!
@agold: Are you saying what I think you're saying (transferring 2 embies)?
persimmon / 1132 posts
@PurplePumps: We did GenPath (not Counsyl, but I think just a different name). Actually DH did it because he had to for MFI. They didn't need to screen me unless something was found on him. Anyway, there wasn't and somehow we didn't pay a dime. (However, if I read the fineprint correctly, we signed away our right to have his blood used in experiments from here to eternity or something that felt weird ... but hey, we didn't pay.)
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Amorini: Yes, I think I'm fully settled on transferring my only and final two frozen embryos. Let's get this show on the road!
As for payment of the genetic test, I can't find any record of what I paid and I'm wondering if I didn't pay anything either. I would have absolutely sign up for something similar if it got me out of paying.

@agold: haha, that's what I thought! From your posts, it sounds like what you really want to do! As jaded as I feel sometimes, I've always been someone to follow my heart, though knowing what my heart wants can be super confusing. More than anything, I think this process is making my heart's deepest desires and my true self all very crystal clear.
On a tangent to that, has anyone found that IVF/fertility meds is bringing up old "stuff"? I thought it was strange for having these recurring dreams about old hurts and didn't mention it to anyone. My subconscious was definitely living through old junk. I thought it was unrelated but then my acupuncturist (who by now, you might understand, is definitely into alternative healing!) said that this ART process and all it's doing to our reproductive organs usually kicks up old buried emotional wounds and memories since we usually store that stuff deep in our bodies down there.
Like with the crazy hormones. I can really handle the traumas of middle school bullies and lost lives from high school right now!
Anyway, just curious if this is true for others ... For me, it was intense until about 3 weeks after ER...

Good apointment at CD8- three follicles on right- 13, 12 and 10 and four smaller ones the left. We're adding gonal-F at 25 daily until recheck Monday. He was planning on a higher dose but lowered it so we don't get too many.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Amorini: Yes, I guess it is what I really want to do. I understand the arguments for and against transferring more than one. But I'm just making up my mind for various reasons! And yes... this process has made my heart's deepest desires also very clear. And yes... the hormones have brought out some crazy in me. Husband notices it all the most. I just notice extreme weepy-ness.
ETA: On Tuesday, I start a new rounds of meds/injections, including but not limited to twice daily PIO shots, so bring on the crazy!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@agold: No, it doenst have anything to do with why i havent been able to pregnant... just if I did and my husband is a carrier too (we're going to get him tested) then there was a chance a child would end up with the disorder.
Insurance actually processed that claim pretty quickly. It's no where near $6900 thankfully. "Only" 700 or so but still a lot more than I expected. Ugh. I had a follow up with one of the consults, and he is calling my diagnosis mild PCOS based on the high AFC and AMH. His recommendation, which also happened to be my clinics also, was to add LH. But I think it's more cause straight FSH hasn't worked 3 times already, so they just want to try something new. One more consult next week just to hear another opinion...

so much to catch up on! Hope everyone is doing well!
We meet with RE on tuesday to discuss on next FET. Interested to see how many of you did an endometrial scratch/biopsy? Also, anyone have any good articles about it?
Thanks!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@PurplePumps: $700 is better than $7000, but still a lot of money! I hope it yeilds some good info for you. So what can you do with this info? IVF w/ PGD?
@endymion4: That's great you are meeting to pay your FET! I had an edometiral lining biopsy a couple of weeks ago to prep for my upcoming FET. I wrote about it a few pages back. What is your purpose for having it done? What are your questions?
pear / 1881 posts
@PurplePumps: oh my gosh! Well, at least it isn't $7000 but man, when you don't expect it, that's rough. Good luck on your next consult and hope you get answers soon ️
We have our transfer in the morning!! The nurse called this morning and we have one 6-cell embryo, one 8-cell embryo, one that grew one cell from Friday to Saturday, and one that possibly arrested. So, four total when they looked at them Saturday. Hoping we have one to transfer and one to freeze. I'm so nervous!
apricot / 365 posts
@agold: I just don't know anything about it. A couple people have asked whether I've had one done (because of the failed FET), but I have no idea the reasons for doing one vs. not, so thought i'd ask as we think about doing an FET again. @NorthStar: Good luck tomorrow!!! will be thinking about you!!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@NorthStar: Good luck tomorrow! Update when you can.
@endymion4: Okay, I understand. So yes, my doctor strongly recommended that I have the endometrial biopsy done. It was done as part of what he called a "mock cycle". He set me up on meds as if I was going to do the FET. He had me in tons of times to check the lining and adjusted my meds until he thought the lining was just right for a FET. Then he did the biopsy. (It hurt like a motherf*cker, but only for a few seconds.) The point, as I understand it, was to check the layers of the lining to make sure it was all right. The whole thing cost me $1,241.00. Now I will do the same course of meds again for the real FET. I hope all that info helps you! Let me know if you have any other questions.

@NorthStar: Good luck!
My ultrasound went fine today. The largest follicle is only 17mm, one slightly behind, and a few around 14mm and less. The largest one was 13mm three days ago, and he says they normally grow 2mm/day. The plan is to decrease Gonal-F to 12.5units tonight and tomorrow, repeat ultrasound Wednesday. Likely trigger Wednesday night and IUI Thursday. He thinks I will ovulate 2, maybe 3. This is later than my previous ones- I've triggered day 11-12, and I won't ovulate til the morning of day 15. I couldn't get my appointment for Wednesday until 8 (when I'm supposed to beat work), and I will miss a work meeting for the IUI. I don't like it, but having a baby is much more important. I have acupuncture this afternoon. I'm working on getting all my records to the new doc for a second opinion in one week.

@agold: if my husband is not a carrier, then we don't have to do anything. If he is, i guess we'll definitely have to do pgs, but I've never had a 5 day blast in the lab. Ugh.
@NorthStar: good luck today!
pear / 1881 posts
@Amorini: @PurplePumps: @Amorini: @agold: @endymion4: well, we transferred one and it was still in morula stage, so not quite blastocyst. Hope it still is good...doctor seemed to think it would be fine. Transfer was super easy, except for the full bladder!

@NorthStar: Thanks for the update- sending prayers! Any word on the others? I hope you get a freezer embryo!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: Sounds like this week is a go for you! That's great. And I'm so glad to hear that missing work isn't stressing you out as much any more. And you (and a few others on here) are really convincing me to try acupuncture this go 'round. Oy vey... one more thing on the list!
@PurplePumps: I hope he is not a carrier and that this is just a stupid $700 bump in the road.
@NorthStar: Woo hoo! You got a transfer and some more in the works. My doctor is fine with morula stage transfers also. I'm praying that a couple more keep growing strong and make it freeze! What's your plan for the rest of the day?
pear / 1881 posts
@agold: thanks for the reassurance!! I'm laying in bed watching a movie on my computer. My in laws are here entertaining our daughter cause my husband went to work. I really should be working but have no desire to

@NorthStar: "I really should be working by have no desire to..." <---- story of my life. It sounds like you are have a great relaxing day. I'm wishing all the best luck ever!

@agold: lol. I am so behind at work with all this traveling so I might have to work Saturday, but figured that it's better to relax..
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@NorthStar: I think there is nothing better than relaxing at home on a weekday. So I have chosen a few times to work a Saturday in exchange for a day off during the week.

@NorthStar: glad all went well!! and hope the report tomorrow is good, too!!
@agold: thanks for the info! interested to see what she has to say about it!!
@AmeliaBedilia: sorry you have to miss work, but fingers crossed it's all worth it at the end!

Hi all. Has anyone used Bravelle over the last couple of years? I got a letter from the maker Ferring Pharmaceuticals today that they've determined that certain lots didn't meet the potency requirements through the expiration date, and they've established a reimbursement program if you purchased the affected Bravelle in the US between 3-27-14 and 10-15-15. They say you should call 877-650-3482 to see if you're eligible for reimbursement of out-of-pocket costs. I'm going to call tomorrow, will let you know what I find out. I don't think a ton of people on the IVF thread used Bravelle, but just in case!

I am new to this thread and I am scared to death!!! On Saturday morning we had our first IVF transfer using a donor egg. I am 41 and we determined that my eggs are poor quality so we moved to this option. Anyway.... my question is this, I don't understand the embryo grading and ours was only graded a "C". I told my dr that our kids get in trouble for C's, so I am not encouraged. We transferred 2 5 day embryos and she said there is a 55-60% chance of pregnancy and a 20% chance of twins, BUT... considering I have had a negative test monthly for the last 3 years, I am scared to death! Are there any encouraging words anyone can offer? Success stories? Etc?
kiwi / 613 posts
@fotolori1: A 55-60% chance of pregnancy is amazing! Best of luck! I'm not sure what grade my embryo was that transferred, but I'm currently pregnant (26weeks) from my first donor cycle transfer. We had a bunch of failures and losses using my own eggs, so using a donor was definitely the magic for me. Hopefully it will be for you as well! Do you have any additional embryos frozen from the donor cycle, or would you have to do another fresh cycle if this one doesn't take?

We ended up with an 8 egg batch, of those 7 survived the thaw, 4 fertilized and the 2 they put in were the 2 best ones, the other 2 didn't develop any further so this is our one shot. We will come up with a way I am sure to make it happen, we always do, but having spent 16,000 on this run, I want it to work so badly! Congrats to you!!! Do you have embryo pics?? Mine weren't starting to hatch or anything.
apricot / 386 posts
@Dookie32 The 23rd! I don't know if I will make it that long! I am glad to hear that a 55-60% chance is good because I am very worried!

Dudes.. help.
My hcg had dropped to 8 last Tuesday. We waited a full week to get a repeat, to make sure they'd be less than 5. My clinic just rang. It's 22 now.
They aren't concerned.... but that's not normal. I'm worried about retained product or a possible ectopic, and they just want me to wait another week and have more bloods. I am seriously freaking out here.
What would you guys do?
nectarine / 2192 posts
@jaguar: You could ask for an ultrasound. Ugh, you've had such roughhouse with all this!
pear / 1881 posts
@dookie32: On the 25th! So, I've either have an amazing Thanksgiving with even more to be thankful for or will have to try and keep it together in front of family. Hoping for the first outcome..
@jaguar: oh my gosh - I would probably get an ultrasound, although, with the betas being that low, would they even see anything? This totally sucks
@fotolori1: I have no idea on the grading and honestly, it seems like each clinic is different. All my doctor told me was that mine was a grade of 2 (with 1 being the highest), but she didn't seem concerned. I do wish that I would have asked her for the chance of pregnancy with a morula.
pear / 1881 posts
The remaining 3 arrested, so I only have the one that I transferred. I'm so crushed right now..why does there need to be so many disappointments in this process?!
