a lot of stuff like this has been written but this one is really good. I especially resonated with this bullet point:
• Become unnaturally intrigued by what gets stains out of clothing, trade tips with other moms and hate yourself for it, bookmark stain chat blogs and hate yourself for it, share hot tips (sunlight! vinegar!) with your friends via text and hate yourself for it.

They forgot to mention the bit where you also have to be HR: resolve interpersonal conflicts, deal with complaints about discrimination (usually by age), sign up coworkers for professional development courses, and be the person everyone comes to when they've got a problem

@Mama Bird: hahaha totally. she also didn't mention willingness to put up with physical abuse from coworkers in the form of being hit in the face, having your hair pulled and being bitten.

@MamaCate: Yeah, I struggle with this too. Because my husband recently started a new job, it makes a lot of sense for me to have primary parenting responsibility now, and I want to support him as he gets established at the new company. But I also have a demanding job, and oftentimes I just feel like the maid in addition to being the mom, as I handle all the household chores. I think I need to look into getting a cleaning service, though really what I wish I could outsource is cleaning dr brown bottles and laundry
I had to have a talk with my husband yesterday about please throwing away his own trash, and I really, really wish he'd stop complaining about being tired to me, given that I do all the night wakings and my infant has been going through a horrible sleep regression lately. Really, I just want to feel appreciated....
