@winniebee: same, it's very cold here so everyone has a runny nose!

@Calibee: mine were ready after 10 days, but they were sent directly to the doctor so I have to wait till Monday.

@JennyG: I'm definitely eating more regularly, like a baby every few hours! But I have the impression that I have a tiny stomach at the moment! I'm full so fast!

@purplelilac: hope you feel better fast!

@JennyG: yes to the ravenous hunger! Wasn't hungry at all in the first tri but now am already thinking about meals days in advance. Hungry the moment I get to work and also need to eat lunch at 11am!

I've got a very full snack drawer at work too.

Is anyone feeling random flutters or twinges? Or am I just gassy? Haha

@Calibee: yay! I can understand the long wait - had to wait two weeks for mine under the premise of 'no news is good news'. We could tell the scan was a positive one due to no markers but I still struggled waiting for the definitive answer!

@Nutella: No movement yet. Though I'm tempted to shine a flashlight at my belly to see if I can get anything started!

@Calibee: is that a thing?! I have no idea clearly!
I'm still exhausted though will have some days here and there where I feel my energy is back to normal...it's very exciting.

@Nutella: ha I definitely feel something sometimes! Still don't know if it's the baby or just my digestive system!!

@Nutella: I've felt movement! I'm almost 17 weeks but I've started feeling flutters a few weeks ago. Not consistently but occasionally. A few times he felt so strong that I tried putting my hand on my belly to see if I could feel him from the outside (I couldn't)

@Nutella: I haven't felt anything yet other than during ultrasounds, but I found out I have an anterior placenta. Booo.

@Nutella: I've definitely felt a few little flutters. I would probably have dismissed them if this was first baby, but now I'm pretty sure they are baby movements.

EDD: July 30th, but I feel if I have an RCS maybe they'll do it sooner even though I didn't go into labour at all and was induced at 42 weeks last time.

First child: 2nd, we have a 15 month old daughter.

Any symptoms: I had some nausea off an on and didn't feel like eating or drinking much, but now it is way better. I now have a little belly too! Showed much sooner than with my first.

Who have you told: My mum, one sister, and a few close friends.

Current thoughts/feelings/fears: I'm hanging onto a bit of anxiety, which I carry throughout pregnancy. I'm feeling a lot better since we had our 12 week scan on Monday and saw the baby moving around! Still waiting on blood test results (probably 2 weeks) but was told everything looked great with the baby. Also wondering about whether a vbac is in my future or not. I'm with the same midwife I was the first time and she said I'll meet with an ob at the beginning of the third tri to discuss.

    @winniebee: :). Excellent!

@mamainthesun: @Nutella: thank you. It was amazing. We didn't do it last time and I don't know how we made it from 9 weeks to 20 without seeing baby.

Oh, and we're team green! We were last time too.

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

@Nutella: I didn't really start telling anyone until 13 ish weeks....and didn't tell work until 15....and am slowly letting more people know and I'm 16.5 weeks! I just finally said something to the boys' school today...it's been easy to conceal there since I'm wearing a huge winter coats at drop offs and pick ups!

  19. Nutella

    persimmon / 1045 posts

@winniebee: it's def more fun telling friends and family right! I have been so vague and flaky over Xmas with social functions I feel better telling people so they now understand my random behaviour 😅 Yay for winter coats!

Work will be interesting. It will be a surprise and probably not taken too well but at least if I say my piece then it's done and I can move on. But I still don't want to!
I think post-mc I'm feeling way more private about it all though, still just hanging on to the idea myself before it becomes worldly knowledge. It does seem like it's going by quickly though!

@Nutella: last time I told my coworkers in the classroom at 15 weeks (I was in a kindergarten class). I never told my principal, just waited for my stomach to tell him. Haha. This time I'm a stay at home mama and taking care of a little boy and I just told his parents on Tuesday because I feel like it's getting noticeable depending on what I wear and I want to be comfy.

Welcome new mamas!! We announced on social media over the weekend.

My MIL asked me if I had anything to do to get ready for this baby...not really! If it's a girl, we will need clothes, but if it's a boy, we are basically set. We will just move DS2 into the same room with DS1.

Will anyone keep the baby in room at the beginning? We had both my boys in their crib in the nursery from the get go, but our rooms all share the landing. Now with the AAP's newer recommendation, I'm reconsidering??

  23. Calibee

    apricot / 286 posts

@Mrs. J: My daughter slept in a bassinet in our room until she was 6 months. At that point, it felt like we were waking/keeping her up (we watched tv and talked semi-quietly and she used to sleep right through it), so she moved into her crib in her own room.

I'm planning to do the same with this baby. At that point, my daughter will be 2 years and 9ish months and hopefully ready (and fingers crossed excited) for a big girl bed in her new big girl room. And baby will go into the nursery. But if my daughter protests or isn't ready to give up the crib when baby is ready to transition out of our room, I'll probably put baby temporarily in a pack n play in the big girl room.

  24. Calibee

    apricot / 286 posts

I should add, if any more experienced moms think this sounds like a bad idea, let me know!! I don't want my daughter to feel like she's being evicted. We are going to majorly talk up the big girl room, let her help pick out bedding, etc.

  25. Mrs. Goose

    pear / 1737 posts

@Mrs. J: we had our babe in our room in a crib beside my side of the bed for 6 months and then she started sleeping pretty lightly and it was becoming hard for us to be quiet and sleep properly. We'll probably play it the same way this time although it would have been easier for her to sleep in our room for another 2 months I'd say.

I'm already wondering what we're going to do for a bed for our daughter and worrying about how she's going to sleep. Or if I should get a crib that converts to a twin bed so we can still have a crib for her? I'm afraid to rock her sleep boat.

  26. Mrs. J

    pomelo / 5132 posts

@Calibee: @Mrs. Goose: we had no issues moving DS1 to his big boy room at 18/19 months. We did it a little before the baby was born. Luckily, we were given another crib, so we didn't have to worry about the bed transition that early

@Nutella: yes, I still haven't told my bosses. I'm getting back my results on Monday so thinking I'll tell them asa I'm sure all is good! But I have told some of my students because it was easier! (ESL teacher)

@Mrs. Goose: is it normal not to have a 12 week scan where you are? Here it's the necessary scan to confirm and officialise the pregnancy.

@Mrs. J: we'll have the baby in our room in the beginning and then see if we move/rearrange the rooms and sleep in the living room in the mezzanine, or put the baby in lo's room. He'll be almost three by the time the baby arrives.

Has anyone had the oldest sleep with the baby? How did it go?

  28. Mrs. Goose

    pear / 1737 posts

@mamainthesun: I think it's totally your choice if you want to have one done here, especially when you're with a midwife (which I was last time and am this time). You don't even have to get the anatomy scan, but obviously they highly recommend it. Then you can also refuse gestational diabetes testing as well. I thought it would cause me worry last time if I got a result that the baby had a higher risk of one of the things they screen for, but that was silly. It was so worth it to get it and I decided last time that any future pregnancy I would get any ultrasound offered!

  29. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

@Mrs. J: I think the recommendation has always been 6 months in with parents? My children were incredibly noisy sleepers and we moved ds1 at a month and ds2 at 2 months. I'm currently pretty nervous about everything right now so I'm just going to go with how we feel after he is here I guess. It will be summer so we will have a rather loud AC so maybe that will help with the noisy baby situation?

I'm so frigging gassy it's so gross! I'm tooting 24-7. Hopefully this passes soon (no pun intended!)

@winniebee: they updated in Oct saying at least 6 months, but ideally a year.

  32. Mrs. J

    pomelo / 5132 posts

@mamainthesun: I am 13 weeks and haven't had any scans. I won't have one until the anatomy scan, and unless I'm late or something happens, that will be my only one

  33. Mrs. Goose

    pear / 1737 posts

@mamainthesun: @Mrs. J: and then back in the day there were none! :). And I think a lot of people used to opt out. I ended up with two anatomy ones last time because my baby was sleeping and despite lots of jabs by the tech and me walking around they couldn't get some pictures of the heart they wanted. She didn't move the whole time. I learned that not eating hours before your scan is a mistake... I then went two weeks over also so I had three bpp ultrasounds but they were quite quick and you couldn't see anything because the baby was huge and all squished in there. But those ones are to check blood flow to baby, heartbeat, and fluid levels in the sac anyway.

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

@Mrs. J: a year is so old! So is 6m! My husband gets up for work at 5:30 many days so honestly I'll probably move him when he starts being affected by that.

@winniebee: @Mrs. J: agreed! Hats off to people who go past 6 months. They must have rock sleepers and also be rock sleepers themselves.

@Calibee: I reckon by then your little girl will be super excited to go into her big girl bed! It was that stage we did it with my son and he was excited! But in saying that he has now regressed to cosleeping so I foresee all four of us in the same room for six months!! We had DS in our room for six months as a newborn & transition from there to his room was the easiest thing for us all
